Awesome run therem8! That practice paid off plus the fact that you couldn't possibly be below me on the HST! Nice points off the bonus stages helped too, GG!

What emulator is this that allows that barrel / curved effect on the screen, to make it look like a CRT monitor?
@oldstylegaming2 ай бұрын
thats just an overlay mate, however mame allows you to set up like a crt in the ini settings if you want that effect

Damn, I didn't realise Super Space Invaders 91 was so cool. Anyone know if this version makes it onto one of the Switch Space Invaders sets? If not, what system would I have to play it on? Thanks in advance.

OSG have you played the 1995 version? Its quite cool just like this version it perhaps feels a bit less like space invaders but its great

Great play by the way. You're a little better at this than I am lol. Because I'm playing on taito legends on PS2 I just put in infinite credits lol. Easy. It's still great fun even with infinite credits

Never saw this in an arcade, but pretty nice update to the classic original! I like the fact that you can now fire MUCH faster than in the original.

This is a huge upgrade from the original. There's also a 95 version which is also great. I've just played both versions on taito legends two and very much enjoyed both 91 and 95 version.

@@Simon0 Such a simple concept, but I remember people forming a LINE to play it back in the day.

@@JustWasted3HoursHere I think for the time the original was something special. It seems a bit naff now but not at the time!

@@Simon0 Supposedly (and this actually makes sense) the game mechanic of the aliens going faster and faster as they're eliminated was by accident. Since the CPU was drawing the aliens (no sprite hardware apparently) it took a little bit less time to draw them all as they were eliminated, so they were relocated faster and faster by the CPU. In play testing it worked out great so the programmer just left it in. In Space Invaders Deluxe (I think it's also known as Space Invaders II), which came out right after the original, there's an Easter egg: If the LAST alien you shoot was one from the very BOTTOM row, you'll see a rainbow effect. It's a bit tricky but doable.

@@JustWasted3HoursHere oh shoot I wish they hadn't have left that in and they stayed slow would have been so much easier lol
