When you rush a job and you don't really know what you're doing sometimes it bites you in the ass and you chip the finish. A scraper razor blade should have been used on all sides of the old nut to separate the nut from the finish. Also knocking it out side ways prevents lifting the finish. That being said , I'm sure we've all made mistakes , I know I have.

Their fine bass nuts, but won't change the tone of anything fretted. The real benefit of a tusq nut is their tuning stability(less friction on the string) compared to a plastic nut. That being said some squires are using a synthetic bone material that shouldn't need replacing.

Nice hack job. You chipped the fretboard and you used super glue to secure the new nut. A better way to do it (learned from better tutorials on YT): Score around the old nut with a blade then put a screwdriver or small flat object on the side of the nut and tap a few times with a hammer. The nut will dislodge. Then clean up the nut slot with sandpaper. Graph Tech nuts need to be adapted to the slot with sandpaper, they're usually a bit thicker and wider (on purpose). Finally use a couple of drops of wood glue like Titebond to keep it in place. This way it'll be easy to remove if it's needed.

Hey, I know this is an old video but do you remember if the nut slot was flat or radiused? I can’t find a flat TUSQ nut and I was curious
@TheBassChannel6 жыл бұрын
It was radiused. Just their standard Jazz Bass slotted nut.

Bassic Gear Review Oh. Well it looks like I’m not that lucky, I have a flat slot and probably will need a different nut
