Seriously though, I was actually looking at possible bridge upgrades for a Squier Jaguar 5 string. How does this compare to the Fender Hi Mass, Omega, Badass etc?

Holy smokes I didn't realize how big of a difference that bridge made! My squire affinity j bass came with pretty soft and cheap hardware. I was adjusting the action on it when I noticed the hex screw started to strip and while it still works and barely adjusts, I might just dump that bridge all together and get this!

Tried this bridge on a couple basses and didn't really like the differences it brought versus the stock one. It seemed to be getting in the way of dynamics or certain frequencies or something. There was a limiting quality to it so I switched back to the normal bent plate. I did install it in a bass for my brother though and he loved it. I guess if you're doing more hard downstrokes with a pick it's just more stable and the sound works better for that.

I don’t care so much about “high mass” but the adjustability is what sold me.

Introduce a little anarchy. Upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos. That bass is an agent of chaos. Oh, and you know the thing about chaos? It's fair!

You sure can tell the difference in tone. This what you are looking for. WTF is every one slamming of the tune ?????? I think that the tone is Fantastic ! I just installed one on my new Squier Vibe 50's P Bass. I am very sure that this Little Bad MO FO is going to sustain for days ! Hip Shot makes a great product and if I had the chance I would have bought a Leo Quan ! I been out of this part of the business for a while. Great Job !

Do you have it on your bass? I'm thinking about putting it on my bass that's near 10 years old cause the bridge just seems so sad now that it collapsed on its own and it needs an upgrade!

Why can't he hear how out of tune that bass is? When you play an octave and it sounds major 7th it's time to turn off the camera and tune your bass. Everything, the pups, the bridge, the paint is secondary to being in tune.
@TheBassChannel7 жыл бұрын
I like my octaves to sound like major 7ths sorry

If you want to give a middle finger to your listeners, I'm fine with it. :-) But seriously, good channel but this Squier mod series has been a bit of a disaster.
@TheBassChannel7 жыл бұрын
G Calling it a disaster might be a bit of a stretch. We put in a lot of time and effort to try to show people some cool mods for a less expensive bass and people can't get past the fact that it's slightly out of tune in one part. We can't do everything perfectly with limited studio time and brand new strings. Bridge installed nicely, pickups sound good, paint applied successfully, strings kept stretching mid-take, ran out of studio time. All in all, I'm still happy with the effort we made to bring you this information and demonstration. Hopefully you'll enjoy the final part when the strings settled.

Why don't you play some relaxed legato bass lines? If you did, there would be a better example for viewers to hear the differences in tone. Especially the flageolet part is just nonsense. Also: why the hell do you talk so fast? What's the point? And yes it's said before, but still: a decent player would have tuned the instrument first.
