Thanks for the quick response. Looks so simple on the videos. Got it to work once...could not replicate. I understand the concept of siphoning. It seems I couldn't get a full tube of liquid up past the highest point of the tube. I bought this to empty out a built-in boat fuel tank, and will have to extend the hose. I'm not encouraged by the test runs.

I have one of these with a car washing brush on the delivery end. It is an amazingly effective gadget, and a good substitute for a conventional hose. As long as you keep the brush moving forward and back over the bodywork of the car, which you are doing anyway, the one-way valve at the inlet end pumps suds and water from a bucket. It will move the cleaning water right up to the roof of a car, too, because the bucket does NOT have to be higher than the brush in order to flow the water... just the motion of the brush is enough to lift it up..

Can be easily made with a larger hole tube and a kids marble, with a soft spring to just force the marble up and / or down to close the hole. Ezzy Pzy.Made a few for myself and friends. Maybe I'll do a video someday to show how !

Those have been around for a long time, but they don't work for siphoning gas out of a car. If there is any resistance, such as in the filler tube of a cars gas tank, you can't move the hose back and forth fast enough to start the siphon.
@jaythebanker7 жыл бұрын
Tis true sir! But they work great for moving gas from a 5gal gas can to a boat on the lake with absolutely no spillage whatsoever. ....+James Barca
@jamesbarca72297 жыл бұрын
Yes, they do work very well for anything like that, especially considering how poorly the "environmentally friendly" gas cans work. I rarely used to spill gas when fueling things up, until they came out with those things.

Did you add coloring to the water in the top container? The top container with the water in it is colored. Then when you siphon the water out at the bottom, the water turns clear. Clear like water looks. Did you put some color stuff in the water?? The bottom plastic container has clear water in it, but not the top. Is it me??
@jaythebanker9 жыл бұрын
I actually did color the water a little...and you are right that it does look like it came out clear! Wasn't anything undid though.. Great vision to catch that!!
@armwrestling_nerd7 жыл бұрын
it is an ordinary check valve in the end of the hose. knowing that may help you to improvise you own "super siphon".
I just used one of these for the first time today, It really is awesome! THE way to siphon!

If you can insert the syphon hose into the spot needing to be syphoned, it should be possible to jiggle it (upward/downward) enough for it to work.

Great point papakernz! Back in the day I think all gas tanks had a wider opening in the neck.. Of course I think that was pre-unleaded gas! Manufacturer definitely needs to make a slimmer nozzle... The application we've enjoyed the most is transferring fuel into a boat at the lake. We NEVER spill fuel anymore! That's a good thing! Thanks for watching!

After 40-50 shakes, I got a brief dribble, then nothing. Tried it in a 5 gal. gas can, then tried it in an open bucket. Could not get it to work.

I bought one for my low available energy/resource SHTF kit and I love it. Its very much win:

Shouldn't take more than 5-10 to work it.. Works every time for me. Make sure the fitting stays submerged the entire time...up and down motion. AND, the draining end must be lower than the fitting in the 5 gal can. (similar to the video)

can it tranfer water from lower to higher the same way or do you need gravity?
@jaythebanker8 жыл бұрын
+Lisa DeMayo great question!! It DOES work based on gravity.. So it's got to be a little "downhill" so to speak. Thanks!!

+glenn pierce ... I've seen them for maybe $10.. depends on where you go. Most big box home stores will have them.

Great product, too bad it doesn't fit in a gas filler neck on a vehicle to drain my gas when I need to replace a fuel pump! product flaw!
@jaythebanker6 жыл бұрын
I don’t believe it’s design was ever intended to remove gas from a vehicle fuel tank. Many more applications exist. Thanks for the comment.
