Nice. I have a b&w Harbor Freight scope I bought several years ago. They are especially handy looking inside walls. This unit is color and so much better with the small diameter and much longer cable. I’m going to give it serious consideration after the holidays. Glad you demonstrated it.

btw, not just for cylinders, these can help you identify pin-outs on multi-pin connectors under the dashboard, make sure you are back-probing into the right wire if you are trying to scope signal on something very inaccessible. Trying to change a headlight on one of the newer vehicles where you can't tell where the clips are inside the housing? This is great for that. Looking for mouse nests in inaccessible places, such as within a hvac box or even within the ducts. Want to see if there's oil in the intake manifold? Is it coming from the turbo or the engine breather? Easy diagnosis. Tons of other uses. It's one of the tools to keep very handy and use daily, not something to shove into a box and pull out sporadically just for cylinder inspections.

Well, that's certainly one way of looking at things ..

I see (through a borescope) what you did there.

I love that you stuck it in your ear.... Not a surgical device.
@IDNHANTU2dayАй бұрын
But it does the job. A surgical device is the same thing with a different label stuck on it yo increase the price.

I love it. I use an older model without the articulating head. That in itself is worth the money, but also the very very narrow camera head is key. You won't believe the tiny spaces you need to get one of these into and sometimes the camera on the older ones is too wide. Mine is only about three years old and the camera is only just narrow enough to fit through some of the newer ultra-narrow European spark plug holes. Side note if you are going to use this for cylinder inspection, maybe be careful about using it on a hot engine. Some manufacturers say the camera can deal with high temps? My experience is the lens begins to get cloudy after many dips into a hot cylinder bore. Something to consider. I'm on my third one now.

That’s a nice scope, looks like good quality for reasonable price. I bought a scope through Amazon quite a few years ago that pairs with iPhone. It was only about $39.00, tiny like that one but does not articulate.

Thanks for the demo, Steve. How good is its depth of field? If you stick it under a door to see what's on the other side, is the whole room reasonably in focus?

It gets blurry after about 10 inches but not too blurry. You can make out objects and people. But can't make out fine detail

30 + years ago I was a gold buff. I made a backpack with batteries and a 12 vdc vacuum that powered a fiber-optic scope. Searching for nuggets was the purpose. That was the tech at that time. Cameras have made that obsolete now, but it was pretty cool at the time.

Amazon also carries an endoscope the plugs into your phone or tablet. I used it to find a bent valve in a friends VW engine

So good to hear Aptera is a Right To Repair company! Been wondering if they're promising us a subscription free vehicle. If you've covered that, I'm behind from having too many news firehoses in my subscription feed.

It would be cool when it is legal to replace mirrors with cameras, especially on my pickup, with tiny cameras

Are you filming with an iphone? The swap between lenses is jarring.
