The reason Mario's music sounded so fast, is that the clone people mistakenly used the ROM from the PAL version of the game. When played at NTSC speeds, you get the crazy fast music like that. No idea why they would have mixed them up but I've seen the PAL Mario ROM on more than a few multi-carts for some reason.
@TheGamerWithMore7 жыл бұрын
aphexteknol Why do they use our version of Mario? I'm here in the Commonwealth. So, yeah... PAL is the standard here. PAL@50hz

Hey Nico awesome video! I'm from Brazil and yeah we have a lot of clone consoles, mostly chinese Nes SOC, but in the case of the Sega consoles (Master System and Mega Drive/Genesis) those new versions you see are all actually licensed by Sega, since the late 80's a company called TecToy got the official license from Sega and they been sealing versions of those systems here to this day.
@StopDropRetro8 жыл бұрын
Yeah! I heard about those Brazilian ones that were like plug & plays. I see TecToy stuff on ebay every now and then but then I remember they're in PAL so I never end up buying them.
@magisterludi28718 жыл бұрын
Actually they're in PAL-M , the signal is identical to NTSC when it comes to frame rate and scan lines ,so it should work on your tv, but the picture would be displayed in black and white, you can use a pal-m compatible capture card or something like that though.

Nice job getting the controller to work better. This thing looks so terribly built, and its so weird that the controller ports were put on upside down. Have you tried connecting a Genesis controller to it?
@StopDropRetro8 жыл бұрын
Yes, that was an oversight on my part by not telling that I did try a Genesis controller and it didn't work. It was strange, it feels like the buttons are remapped or something. So that's why I thought about making a custom controller from the ground up but I should have been clearer on that.

That was one thing I forgot to mention in the video. I did try a Genesis controller, but it didn't work. I think the buttons are remapped or something. I even tried another 9 pin famiclone controller and it still didn't work so I think this input is proprietary to Karaoto or something. That's why I thought about making a custom controller from the ground up, I should have been more clear on that but I forgot to mention it.
@rainbowcemetery8 жыл бұрын
all them clones use db9 ports, probably cause they're the cheapest. but they use shift register style controllers like the nes/famicom so nothing else that routinely uses that port would work. other clone controllers should work though that's a little weird. if you ever do open it up it'd be interesting to see what's goin on in there.
