Everybody wants a Super Vulcain, but where can we purchase it? Why is it not available in the US?

Was interested until I found out that they want $9000 plus shipping. There are a lot of other machines that can do this stuff for less. I do however, like their use of extrusions for oval and oblong shaped bending. That's unique. Just not $9000 unique.

+TheBikerScout I believe the reason they are so expensive is because it comes from a small French company who only makes them to order. You are basically paying how much it costs to make these machines on an individual basis.

+douro20 That might be true... but it's a bad business model. See how many extrusions they have, from the base to the inserts? Plus all of the castings! I know that you need to at least order 20 tons of extrusions before an extruder will sell you special shapes. Plus, I'd be willing to bet that there are similar minimums for specialized castings. The only cool feature I see that is definitely unique are the oval extrusions. But how much call would I have for oval shapes? In a pinch, I can make oval bucks out of hardwood. If you are an ornamental iron worker, chances are that when you start out, you bend a lot by hand, or order from the catalog. Also, probably have a small space. There can't be that much demand for ornamental iron, that someone starting out would consider $9000 + add-ons, when you can achieve the same results for less than $3000. I found and bought the pro series from MetalCraft and I love it. What it can't do, I've got a couple of other machines from a few other places, like Swag Off Road and Howron Bending Tools. They are all manual, like the Vulcan, but allow me much more growth until I need to move up to Powered Hydraulic or CNC machines. A 50 ton iron worker is about $9000, even less on the used market. By the time you realize that you need to grow and can't keep up with demand, you wouldn't add a manual bender, you'd go straight to hydraulic and speed is what makes you the money at that point.
