It's becoming easier and easier to stay connected as a community because of social media. I've been doing it for 20 years and you were just chopping away on your own. Now there are FB pages and whatsapp groups where we can stay connected and get advice.

I live in Juneau. My dad was in the Coast Guard and when he got stationed here I looked at him, in 10th grade, and told him that I didn't care if he hit transferred again, I wasn't going. I was home. Alaska is amazing.

Thank you Nina and Brennan, a story to follow as the refit progresses. Loved the disaster story, the plaster and finger condom is a great twist on the old tradition of a silver coin or other treat in a pudding. Glad the guests thought it was a prank and the Captain just settled for shouting.

I catered a birthday party yesterday and I forgot my bar height table. I have a 15 skewer oca brazil rotisserie system, had it loaded down with chorizo, picanha, tri tip and chicken breast on these 28 inch skewers. My poor back was screaming while half way through slicing all that hahaha. I'm definitely getting those Risers at any cost!

When we owned our Cookies by Design in Vero we had a 60 qt Hobart Mixer, the thing was a beast. And a smaller Hobart for mixing icing for cookies and smaller Kitchen Aid for small batches. Loved that Hobart though

The story of the finger glove in the mashed potatoes reminded of something that happened to my son. He was about 5 years old and we were out at a rather posh restaurant one Saturday afternoon. Short version: there was a finger condom in the food and it got stuck in my sons throat. I had to do the Heimlich manoeuvre on him several times before it finally came out. Total relief but only after sheer terror.
