Hello, and welcome back to another train trip report on my channel. For this week I am travelling on-board the amazing Frecciarossa 500 high-speed train operated by Trenitalia!
Special shoutout to ‪@NonstopEurotrip‬, who did a video on the other Frecciarossa train in Premium Class. Check out his video here: • Italy's FLAGSHIP Highs...
Today's route starts in Roma Termini, the main station of the Italian capital of Rome. From there it serves Roma Tiburtina, before speeding along at 250km/h (155mph) on the Direttissima (which translates to 'direct route'). That's not all, as once we arrive at Firenze S.M.N. (Florence), a reversal is made and we continue at an impressive 300km/h (186mph) towards Bologna and Milano, passing through the spectacular Reggio Emilia AV Mediopadana on the way.
These high-speed trainsets have had an interesting past, originally starting off with different powercars (renumbered to E.414) to the ones they have now (E.404). The former now are used on Frecciabianca and InterCity duties, quite a world apart from the 250km/h (155mph) running they were built for. Interestingly this train originally worked on Eurostar Italia services, not to be confused with Eurostar of today. This former duty is where the external and internal design come from.
I'm really happy with my journey on this Italian high-speed train, and there's much more Italian high-speed content coming up soon, so enjoy the video and be on the look out for more!

Thank you for coming to Italy, you're always welcome. Italy has an amazingly good HS railway system, very efficient and high quality, it's successful. ETR/TAV is amazing and so are other Italian trains like the private Italo (like Thalys/Eurostar). Very much like france, similar to TGV.

I'm partially Italian. I've been on a Frecciarossa ETR 500 once from Florence to Rome back in 2008! Most of the times I'm in Italy, I tend to use the local and regional trains (treno regionale or regionale veloce in Italian)

11:46 there are actually 4 types of Frecciarossa services along the Turin-Milan-Rome-Naples line: -Turin-Rome/Naples calling at all stations except for Milan Centrale, it calls at Milano Porta Garibaldi instead; -Milan-Rome/Naples calling at all stations; -Turin/Milan-Rome/Naples calling at Turin, Milan (Centrale and Rogoredo), Rome and Naples; -Turin/Milan-Rome/Naples calling at Turin, Milan (Centrale only), Bologna, Rome and Naples; some trains may reach other destinations (like Brescia, Salerno or Battipaglia) but before Covid each of these services had a frequency of 1 tph, for a total of 4 tph, 2 "slow" and 2 "fast"
@raffaelefiore6650
@raffaelefiore6650 3 жыл бұрын
The ones you call 'abandoned stations' at 15:20, are not such. They simply are trainstops along the historic 'slow' line between Bologna and Milano (anyway capable of speed up to 200 km/h), which along the first section after departing from Bologna, runs adjacent to the High Speed line, and join the HS Line again at Milan's door station, named 'Rogoredo'. Nonetheless, also the other two sections of the HS Line (Rome-Florence and Florence-Bologna) do have the old slow line running more or less adjacent to them.

The Reggio Emilia station looked AWESOME! I think whilst Business Class is perfectly acceptable, you’d probably find me reserving Executive Class. At this stage of my life, why not? 😉. As always I enjoy your presentations and can’t wait to be able to travel post pandemic 👍🏻

a failure on the on board systems in italian trains is normally referred to a temporary failure of the on board safety systems for speed an signal management control in high speed and traditional lines. if the on board train systems doesn't read the right code o if it doesn't read it at all when it passes over a balise or a signal, the emergency brakes automatically trigger. the train will not be able to move until the failure will be fixed. safety first!

I'm sorry, you're wrong. Tracks at Bologna Centrale station are 25 overall, two of which (no. 2 and no. 5) are service tracks without platforms, therefore there're 23 tracks for passenger service only. They're distributed a s follows: No. 1 to no. 11 are surface passing-by tracks (2 of them without platforms); No. 15 to no. 18 are underground passing-by tracks (for High Speed service only); No. 1 to no. 7 'West Apron' are surface, dead end tracks on the West side of the station; No. 1 to no. 3 'East Apron' are surface, dead end tracks on tne East side of the station.

2:00 there was and old war-time law in italy that prohibited filming inside stations airports and other infrastructures. No one even bothered to cancel the law after wwii was over until the 90's if i recall, but you can still find someone unaware of the thing and still enforcing this old law, but it is very rare.

@@SuperalbsTravels i heard of those situations only in rome actually, and this may be related to the station workers that doesnt want to be filmed (because it is known that absenteism is quite spread amongst them, most notably on rome metro workers and rome local police), so my guess is that they pretend to not know about this law being revoked just to protect themselves.

I believe that failure you experience enroute was something to do with TVM430 having a spastic moment. So the driver shut off the train and turned it on again to clear the errors. _I think_ please dont quote me on this, just that this happened recently to me as well.

The first part of the line betrween Bologna and Milan, is shared between HSTs and regular rails. The "abandoned" station is very close to the Borgo Panigale Airport Terminal (BLQ-LIPE). IMHO is possible that it was designed and realized to allow suburban trains to connect the area with the airport. No idea why this is not currently used.
