I like it really very much my KD-C1. I have second battery after years of daily use and everything works perfectly. No mods needed, just program it and go. just be noted > there is few upgraded models like KD-C1 Plus and KD-C2 even. I did not tested yet. :)

just got 2 of these for £18 under the retevis rt22 brand.exact same.cracking little radios.not got my licence yet but ideal for listening to local repeater and per channels.got a fright when I read the tiny manual and seen the desktop charger was optional accessory and didn't know how to charge then I seen yours and ringways video and found the charge port under earpiece socket.great videos by the way

Its considered as SRRS or Short Range Radio Services in my country, the Philippines since it is only a merely 2 watts radio. Any radio that is 2 watts and below is an SRRS.

The instruction leaflet doesn't make it clear but to Scan the channels press and hold the -(minus) key for a few seconds. The 'Add Scan' should set to Scan (and not Del) when programming the radio.

I can do that, I tested around a lake with bushes and scrub and could get 3 to 4 miles with them, they are fantastic little sets and have the best audio quality of any radio I've tested.

Testing these cute little radios under singular, idealized conditions is like rolling a ball downhill and saying "Look how far it goes!" Your results WILL vary. Possibly by a lot. I have these. 16 channel. I always considered them only two watts. Small antenna. Charger port broke on one of them (glove compartment bumps).

Because they are sold world wide. No telling who's frequency you are on when you transmit. When you program them you pick certain legal channels for your country.

it is bl-5c also variations will also work but might not fit due to the end plastic.. long story but depending on the nokia phone you might have to trip plastic on the battery, which is a risk since its lithium..

USB port is for charging only. Use a standard baofeng 2 prong programming cable.

Once you plug in the standard 2-prong programming cable, if not working in CHIRP - on a Windows PC, go to CONTROL PANEL - DEVICE MANAGER - then go to the tab/drop down menu PORTS - from here you should see what COM Port number the USB Serial cable is on. In the CHIRP software, make sure the COM port is the same.

Did you ever try to see if it would accept a VHF frequency and then actually key up and receive decently on VHF? I realize the antenna may not be resonant, but I'm curious if the radio actually functions on VHF?

marsradio no I haven't yet, I really like these little radios and have been having fun using them, I have to say the audio quality of these radios is better than anything I have even my yaesu and ICOM handled radios, it's superb.

I have four of them that I use here in the US for both ham and GMRS. Programming is via the mic/earphone connections to USB port. The micro-USB is strictly for charging the battery.

OK, because I'm a complete moron, I got cold feet and cancelled my order of the Retevis RT22's. Instead, I bought two Retevis RT1 radios. Why? Well, I panicked! But now my feet are even colder. And now it's too late to cancel the order (Sure, I can send them back, I know, but that's not gonna happen). So, new question: Do you have any experience with the Retevis RT1? Yes, I know that it's a completely different radio.
