i worked at the biggest engine rebuilding plant in north america. he had a couple of engine cleaning booth. they worked like this: -rotating sprayer like a dishwasher spinning inside -boiling and steaming water inside the cabinet for about 1hour -we added what looked like either dishwashing or clothes washing powder inside -the engine part were on a stainless rack that would rotate inside

I am looking to build a workshop in the coming months and this is definitely going to to be included in the plans. I look forward to watching the videos once you've edited them on how you constructed it but, in the meantime, I will do some research on the individual components so I won't be completely pilfering your idea. That's some excellent work you've done there, and very clever too! I literally laughed out loud even you showed us your solution to the door sealing conundrum. Brilliantly simple, but so very effective. I haven't checked your channel yet, as this is the first of your videos I've seen, but I'm really hoping that you've given an update on how it's faring and any revisions you've made. I did have an idea on how you might cut down the changeover time between the different processes by eliminating the manual rinse - a loop of pipe around the inner perimeter at the top of the walls, fitted with spray nozzles similar in design to those in a garden spray irrigation system to direct fresh water over all internal surfaces for a timed flush with fresh water should do the trick at the press of a button.

Love the idea. Nice job! I think I need to do this. One suggestion...use water tight switches installed INSIDE the cabinet to actuate solenoid valves to change from one operation to the next. No need to remove your hands from the gloves over and over.
@SuperbikeSurgeryTV2 жыл бұрын
You are not the first person to suggest this! Personally don't think it's such a great idea. It's such a harsh environment inside the cabinet even the best quality switches wouldn't last with the heat and high pressure. I'm already on my second set of high quality billet aluminium waterproof lights!
@steventimme52682 жыл бұрын
@@SuperbikeSurgeryTV True watertight switches aren't connected directly to the switch. It's just a mechanical linkage with a rubber seal connected to a remote switch. Even if it did leak, the liquid wouldn't harm anything. I can send a drawing if you're interested.

Sadly, for me, it looks like you won't have it available in my lifetime. Being in my 70s, I often forget my clock is winding down. I'm also trying to finish the restoration of my 1965 GTO so I can leave it to my grandson once I'm gone. I'll keep checking back to see if things change. have you tried, after cleaning it all up, use stainless ball media to peen the surface? the idea is that, that exhaust side in particular looked quite porous (due to surface corrosion of aluminium), and glass bead at best just cleans it up, but stainless might be heavy enough to level it out, make it smoother, less prone to catching dirt and corroding?
