I definitely think Hagrid is a Hufflepuff. He wasn't being brave to take care of people and animals, he did it bc he had so much compassion for them. Like, he didn't want to let go of them bc he wanted to take care of everyone and everything. Fluffy the ferocious 3 headed beastie was just a puppy to him. The dragon lit his face on fire and he still thought it was a sweet cute little baby. Even wanted to protect the spiders. He wasn't coming up with any big plans, he constantly let out too much information, wasn't super into solving problems or knowing tons of facts, that man was the epitome of Hufflepuff.

And yet when Aragog sensing the Basilisk in the castle begged Hagrid to let him go, Hagrid selfishly kept a terrified Aragog locked up. Hagrid often did selfish things. When it came to dangerous creatures Hagrid was selfish and just as often endangered his creatures. Under his instructions Hagrid darn near got Harry and Ron killed by giant spiders. It makes a lot of sense that Hagrid was a Hufflepuff. He said that "everyone", as in the other three houses, says that Hufflepuff are duffers. Then, before Harry cuts him off, the "but" indicates that he was about to defend them. Also, the Hufflepuff comon room is in the basement, closest to the dungeons other than Slytherin. Tom probably spotted Hagrid going down from his common room, and confronted him. All the teachers were presumably on the upper floors, so he could've snuck down one floor whenever he wanted.

My current theory is he was sorted into Hufflepuff, and Tom was familiar with him because he had already snuck beasties into Hogwarts and he was a big old fella. And I feel Tom would be willing to have a Hufflepuff in his posse if it afforded him extra muscle and a ticket to the giants. Perhaps Hagrid was the only proto-deatheater who wasn't Slytherin, and because he wasn't in Slytherin, Tom felt more comfortable snitching on him. And maybe Dippet thought he was the heir of Slytherin out of a belief that giants would only breed with villainous humans or something. Maybe Hagrid was a hatstall like Harry, and people thought he was Slytherins heir, because everyone in the school saw the sorting hat go "you, Rubeus Hagrid, the boy whose head I am currently sitting on, would do great in Slytherin, oh boy what a Slytherin you would make. This kid over here sure would be a Slytherin, being so eager to prove himself and succeed. How very Slytherin of him indeed. But he likes pancakes, so Hufflepuff it is. I feel like you're forgetting that Hagrid probably would have been pretty infamous in Hogwarts by this point, I mean he probably would have garnered attention from day one since he's a half-giant and really hard to miss, but it really would have kicked off once the school found out about his love of dangerous creatures. I mean Argog could hardly have been the first creature that Hagrid snuck in, and with him taking care of magical creatures it would have been even more obvious. And Voldemort probably had some of his followers keeping him up to date with all the notable rumors in Hogwarts and he would have been looking for someone to blame the chamber of secrets on, so it wouldn't have been all that surprising for him to know about Hagrid, even if he was in a different house. As for them being on a first name basis, it wouldn't be impossible for Voldemort to "befriend him" in private not long before the scene in the diary to make sure the rumors are true (and that he has an animal at school right now).
@theravenwizard3 жыл бұрын
That's a pretty good point but I also think Riddle in particular had very little interest in what was going on outside Slytherin house. Despite being a successful, charismatic young man, his followers are exclusively members of his own house... why? Not because he can't convince anyone else, but because he doesn't care to. It could also be for practical reasons, but I do feel like that's just kind of... well, not it. He knew about the room of requirement at some point during his time there, so meeting in secret would be trivially easy even if they had people from other houses, and there are some pretty darn powerful wizards coming from every single one, especially bloody Gryffindor. So why the Slytherins only if not because no one else was worth the effort to him?

@survivordave2 жыл бұрын
@@theravenwizard It wasn't an option even hypothetically though. From Deathly Hallows we know his thought process from Harry reading his mind that he thought the diadem was the safest Horcrux of all because no one knew about its hiding place. Compare that to the cave, which only a handful of Muggle children 50+ years prior had ever seen firsthand. He wouldn't have considered the Room of Requirement even more secret if he'd let in anyone else no matter how much he trusted them. And Voldemort certainly didn't know about the room's ability to shape itself to your needs. Voldemort was way too egocentric to have been content hiding his Horcrux in Hogwarts's junk drawer if he knew it could have turned into a grand-looking dangerous magical gauntlet that would have only allowed himself to pass through safely.

Lots of people are using the argument, that Hagrid wasn't a Slytherin bc of his personality. But you have to remember, that Hagrid was over 60 at the begining of series. Yet , he was 11 when he was sorted into a house. While I wouldn't describe Hagrid as cunning or valuing cunning of others (you're sorted not only based on you personality, but also what you value - Hermione values courage over knowledge, hence shes a gryffindor, Wormtail values bravery even though he's not brave and gets sorted into Gryffindor) In the series he seems to value Dumbledore's LEADERSHIP or at least follows his every order. He is i very DETERMINED to raise magical creatures, which I consider AMBICIOUS. Kinda. But when he was 11, his father had already died and Hagrid wanted to make him proud. He wanted to be succesful wizard and I think Slytherins value success a lot. Then there is an argument that Hagrid is half giant and Riddle would still notice him. But why would a PREFECT called him RUBEUS? And why would Hagrid called a random PERFECT BY HIS FIRST NAME? Also, Tom would have to had known that A Hagrid was fond of large and dangerous animals and B he HAD a giant spider in the castle? Its lot more plausible for Voldemort to have known that if they were in the same house.

@Ingemaja6 жыл бұрын
Solid Ronin I agree with you there, but I would also like to add that I think both Filch and Hagrid would have problems if they had to live outside of the magical community. Manual work would make for an excuse to keep them around, as well as giving them a chance to feel accepted. Both of them had valuable knowledge, as well: they probably knew hiding-places and so on that the rest of the staff would have problems finding. Hagrid and his immense knowledge regarding magical creatures could also be helpful if anything dangerous were to ever cross the grounds. It would be easier to patrol the grounds with more people, and them being used to not having magic would perhaps make them a little more observant and so on. I think it’s a win-win: they could feel valuable and stay in the world they grew up in, and the school could get help with certain issues. What do you think?

"You know, sometimes I think we sort too soon" Heres my theory. Young hagrid had it rough as a kid, being half giant and all. He wanted, no needed to prove that he was more than that, preteen angst and all, and was willing to do whatever to prove it. Hagrid gets sorted into slytherin. Time goes by at Hogwarts and he sees how the need for power manifests in some of his housemates and deep inside knows that's not what he truly wants. He starts making friends with and/or idolizing gryffindors as he sees how their values carry them to their goal in a noble way he didnt know was possible. As time goes on it becomes apparent to all who really know him Hagrid belonged in gryffindor all along, so once he was kicked out of Hogwarts as a student and his classmates left Dumbledore acknowledged the sorting hats mistake and took it upon himself to ensure future generations didnt associate hagrid with the house he should have never been in to begin with. It's also interesting to me at least that someone like Harry also had the sorting hat question whether he would do better in Gryffindor or Slytherin. Hermione also had a similar experience with either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. So it may have been something similar for Hagrid, where it could tell he had the capacity to do well in perhaps Hufflepuff or Slytherin. (Or maybe even Gryffindor, it's hard to know). At such a young age, Hagrid's desires may have been different and that could have landed him in Slytherin. It seems a little strange to me that a Half-blood obsessed with blood purity like Tom would have taken interest in being close friends with a half-blood like Hagrid. I kinda just assumed Tom knew him because he caused trouble a lot, probably wasn't the first time he'd tried to bring creatures into the castle with him. But I could see Tom taking a special interest in Hagrid because of his size and possible connection to the giants. If he was Slytherin, I would agree that folks like Dumbledore would want people to think that Hagrid was a Gryffindor instead, especially with the way Hagrid changed as he got older.

We don't know. Maybe in that point in time, Hagrid had ambitions to not only be accepted and have friends, but even respected and/or feared. Fully agree. JK claims the house 'traits' are only generalizations, but she hammers those generalizations home in the books so that you seriously can't escape them. The problem is the traits she divided them by are too easy to select as "good" or "evil". More neutral traits, or a more neutral portrayal of the traits, would have helped level things out. I wonder if the books, and the houses, would have been better had Hermione been in Ravenclaw and Ron in Hufflepuff. Broaden the base.

Isn’t Hagrid basically a burlier part giant version of newt scamander though???? And Newt was as hufflepuffy as a hufflepuff can be!!! They both have the thing for the dangerous magical beasts and wanting to convince people they are actually ok, fiercely loyal to friends (e.g. Jacob Kowlaski/Dumbledore) and hard working, Newt to make his book and care for all the creatures in his case and Hagrid the same at Hogwarts! Hagrid will always be a hufflepuff in my eyes, sorry J I think everybody just has there own opinion on these things as the house qualities aren’t exactly black and white and are largely up to debate, but great theory with more evidence than I expected!!❤️
@Altorin6 жыл бұрын
Geek Girl that's the thing. There are no hufflepuff traits. Not really. Hufflepuff is about being a rising tide to lift all ships. The traits associated hufflepuff - kindness, patience and consistency are just the consequences of raising a person as a hufflepuff. Hufflepuff traits are developed in house. You might come in being kind but you don't get sorted into hufflepuff because you are excessively kind. Other houses need their kind members. You're sorted into hufflepuff because you don't necessarily feel like you belong anywhere. Helga hufflepuff believed that all wizard children deserve a place to grow and learn and feel like a family. So those lost little first years feel welcome in Hogwarts by being sorted into hufflepuff. Other houses are sorted by their traits. The house looks for certain aspects of a character that they can hone to an edge. Hufflepuff is different. Hufflepuff just wants to know if you are magic capable. If you are they'll take you and treat you like a brother. That all being said, there is still more evidence that hagrid certainly might have had the "trait" of feeling lost or overwhelmed on his sorting. Hagrid as he is as an adult would be sorted into hufflepuff or gryffindor certainly. But we don't know what he was like at 11. He wanted to be a wizard even though the world told him that he couldn't. That much we know for sure. And if he wanted it badly enough that could certainly swing him out of hufflepuff and into slytherin during his sorting. The only house that breathed a sigh of relief when he was sorted was ravenclaw. Everyone else would have wanted hagrid. Gryffindor and slytherin because a half giant can be an incredible asset. And hufflepuff because they want everybody.
@Altorin6 жыл бұрын
I suppose "having a capacity for kindness" is an important hufflepuff trait - it's not a house for sociopaths, but if you're lost and scared and happen to be an unkind first year they'll show you what true friendship is and let that capacity for kindness flourish.
@crybaby34866 жыл бұрын
Altorin, You can say the same about a lot of other traits that would be used to sort you into other houses, like ambition or cleverness. (It's literally 3 AM and I totally lost my train of though on this, but I thought I'd give my 2 cents.)
@saramunozmunoz6 жыл бұрын
Geek Girl as a fellow Hufflepuff, I'd love to claim Hagrid. But I think he really is a Gryffindor.
@rickymanelski56166 жыл бұрын
Altorin, I'm with Crybaby on this. You can say that about any of the houses. Gryffindors aren't really extra brave, they are just put in a house that values that, and they become brave. Ravenclaws aren't really extra smart, they are just put in a house that values intelligence so they study and become intelligent. This treads into the whole nature vs. nurture debate that psychology has been arguing about for decades. Are people really the way they are because they are because they are born that way, or because of the way they are raised and grew up. I personally think it is somewhere in the middle, not completely nature or nurture but both combined. Also, my personal headcannon is that the sorting hat sorts, or at least heavily takes into account, based on what someone values the most, not necessarily what attribute they are. So if someone values bravery the most, they will go to Gryffindor, even if they aren't the bravest. Then they are around a bunch of people who value bravery and most end up developing those traits. This would explain people like Peter Pettigrew, as well as Neville, who turned out really brave, but that was developed, he wasn't that brave when he was sorted. If this is the case, then the people who are sorted into Hufflepuff are the people who value kindness, loyalty, hardwork, and acceptance over the traits of the other houses. Then even if they aren't that way naturally, they house helps them become that over time, like you said. I just think it's the same for all the houses though, and you can't take one houses traits and say, well those people aren't born that way, those are developed by being in the house, but all the other houses the people are just naturally those traits.
@maxi19684 жыл бұрын

We can obviously tell that Hagrids a hufflepuff. I mean when you look at the other houses it might be like “oh he could be a gryffindor” but hes just such a huge softie and trusts people and cares for them. The cutest moment was probably when he was sad about sending the baby dragon he found in the first movie to Romania. “What if he doesn't like it there, what if the other dragons are mean to him.” Like that's a hufflepuff for sure.
@MountainFisher2 жыл бұрын
Hagrid treated many of his pets selfishly. When Aragog sensing the Basilisk in the castle begged Hagrid to let him go, Hagrid selfishly kept a terrified Aragog locked up in a box. Hagrid often did selfish things. Like keeping a dragon he could not continue to care for and endangering Ron, Hermione and Harry. Hagrid's monster fixation often put students in danger. When it came to dangerous creatures Hagrid was selfish and just as often endangered his creatures. Under his instructions Hagrid darn near got Harry and Ron killed by giant spiders. Started with boxes of Skrewts ended up with two. Hagrid often did what he wanted regardless of danger to students or pets. If not for Ron's brother who could take his dragon how many students could have got hurt if it got loose? Hagrid utterly refused to believe it would hurt anyone even after Ron was bitten by it and had to go to the hospital wing. Borderline sociopath if you cannot or will not see the harm you cause to others.
@coltonstewart869811 ай бұрын
@MountainFisher Hagrid cared for the monsters so deeply and could only (in his mind) keep them safe in his care. His "acts of selfishness" are just him being dumb. Noone has ever accused Hagrid of being too smart. He did those things not because of some grand plan to own them or to be selfish, it is because he truly believed that he could provide the best life for them. 🖤💛🖤💛 Hufflepuff 100%

I personally think Hagrid was in Hufflepuff. Not only is he incredibly hardworking and loyal (like the video points out), but I feel like there is a connection between being in Hufflepuff and loving magical creatures. Newt Scamander was in Hufflepuff and he was very fond of magical creatures, and broke school rules to take care of them or study them in some way, just like Hagrid. This doesn't necessarily mean that Hagrid was in Hufflepuff, but there is a similarity. I see the points that Hagrid could be in Slytherin, and that could be possible, but I just think that on a personality basis, Hagrid has the most Hufflepuff traits than the other houses.

Here's the thing. This is a fabulous theory. Well-researched and it makes alot of sense. BUT I think you thought it out better than J.K Rowling did tbh. I think you are seeing connections that J.K. Rowling may not have intended to be there (so kudos there cause damn this is well thought out and well connected) However I think there are a few problems with your theory. First of all, even though I know that sorting is partly about values and where you wanna be placed I really could not see Hagrid in Slytherin at all. Even though it would be cool if he were, I can't see it. He's not ambitious at all really, nor is he cunning, resourceful, or self-preserving. Despite this, it COULD be possible that maybe his values do align with Slytherin, even if his traits do not, but I highly doubt it based on what we know of him. In fact his values and traits fit perfectly with Hufflepuff as you said: he's loyal, hardworking, dedicated. Additionally those pieces of evidence you brought up could be debunked - Hufflepuff is also in the basement for one, Hagrid is the only one with giant blood so of course he would stand out a bit, the Slytherin heir suspection thing might have been because he was a giant and people have been shown to be a bit giant- hating PLUS he did have a giant spider sooooo its not much of a leap and people would have discarded the Slytherin heir thing in light of that information, plus any of these points, though cleverly put and interesting to think of, are just circumstantial and cannot be taken as hard evidence. So we kind of have a mess here. Ravenclaw is out for sure, but J.K. Rowling says Gryffindor, some circumstantial evidence suggests Slytherin, and Hagrid's own personality and values suggest Hufflepuff. So heck, there's a bit of weight in all three. Personally though? I think all the evidence definitely fits him best in Hufflepuff. And I think you might have a sliiiight bias towards Slytherin especially since there are not many good characters represented in Slytherin (which I get you on honestly.. there needs to be more) But overall? Really interesting theory. Keep doing these. They are always fun to watch and make me think! - A Ravenclaw who very much enjoyed this video!
@FulcanMal6 жыл бұрын
I would argue that Hagrid is resourceful and ambitious. He always manages to acquire extremely rare creatures by making connections with people. Not to mention that he managed to get a job as grounds keeper at a school from which he was expelled after supposedly causing a students death, and a school that teaches magic despite him not being allowed to use magic. This suggests both resourcefulness, and ambition.
@MsWatismyname6 жыл бұрын
He tends to get the restricted creatures in Knockturne Alley, sometimes helped by an outside plotting force. He was hired again as groundskeeper since Professor Dumbledore didn't believe in his guilt and thus hired him out of pity. In my opinion, he would make for a wonderful Hufflepuff an awkard Slytherin.

I agree! I think that there is more of a case for him being in Hufflepuff because it seems to fit his values and his personality (I was actually pretty surprised to learn he wasn't a Huffie). The only justification I feel I can make in favour of Gryffindor is that we don't really know what his values were when he was at Secondary school age as in-depth as we seemingly do for adult Hagrid. His run in with Tom Riddle and getting expelled and banned from using magic, very likely, would have altered his outlook on life and what he values in general. I think he can be resourceful and ambitious (I think to do the work he does without magic he would definitely have to be resourceful in any case), but I would also make an argument that people's actual skills don't really matter so much with the house choices, as we saw with the golden trio and even the Marauders, it seems to come down to values first and foremost.
@Nortarachanges6 жыл бұрын
I agree that Hagrid fits the personality of Hufflepuff NOW, but maybe he was a more ambitious eleven year old. Numero Uno on my list of why the Sorting Hat is garbage. I always assumed he was a Slytherin because of the Tom Riddle knowing so much about him and he’s keeping a pet in the dungeons thing anyway. Didn’t know about Pottermore. If he was a Gryffindor, why choose the dungeons as a hiding place? It would make more sense to keep Aragog in like a nook on the roof or somewhere in a tower room or even the Room of Requirement. That thing shows up for anything ^_^
@cupcakepink12996 жыл бұрын

Some may already know this but the reason why Hagrid could not just perform magic to complete his duties was because well, he was not actually allowed to do magic due to his incompletion of education at Hogwarts. After Hagrid was accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets from being found out by Tom Riddle (Voldemort) he was expelled. After his wand was snapped by Dumbledore (not to mention the one person convinced that he was innocent) it was later repaired in secret by Dumbledore with the use of the Elder Wand and hidden in the form of a pink umbrella (seen in the first movie). Filch as many know is a squib, a person born by 2 wizards who is not able to perform magic, essentially a muggle pureblood. That being the reason Filch could not just use magic. I also do know that someone else could have done it but that would take out the purpose of their jobs.

When you’re a Slytherin: Hagrid’s a Slytherin.
@MrMarinus185 жыл бұрын
I do think Hagrid had a strong desire to prove himself a wizard given his mother. I think the houses are that Slytherins want to make their superiors proud of them, or make a crowd proud of them. Hufflepuffs want to help their fellows and support them. Ravenclaws want to show off themselves and their abilities. Griffondors want to prove themselves and show they can defy the odds. Dumbledore always looked more like a ravenclaw to me. At least when he was young he was obsessed with his abilities. His plans with Grindelwald for a wizard ruled world were very theoretical. Harry would indeed be hard to put since he has attributes of all four. He wants to prove himself a wizard to his parents, he wants to help his friends, he wants to show off his skills and he wants to defy the odds. Griffondor and Slytherin have the thing in common that they focus on others but there is a crucial difference. Slytherin's try to work up to their superiors while Griffondors try to work against their superiors. Most Griffondor's are quite defiant and self assured therefore. While Malfoy can talk a big game he almost always acts through someone else. When in the sixth book he has to stand on his own he seriously struggles. The heads of house really define them as well. Especially Magonacle, while she is strict she also can be extremely defiant if she wants to. For example when the Dursley's wanted to stop Harry she took it as a challenge and only after considerable effort did she use Hagrid to just brute force the letter in. More so against Umbridge when she was by far the most defiant of them. Even against Dumbledore who she reveres she is not afraid to voice disapproval. Such as when Dumbledore left him with the Dursley's. She advised against it and that it would be better to keep him with Sirius. Slughorn also is classic Slytherin in how he wants to feel he is important and others admire him. He wants to feel that wizards in higher positions then himself still look up to him.

Also in the Sorcerer’s Stone Hagrid says to Harry when discussing Voldemort “Well, some say he died. Codswallop in my opinion. Nope, I reckon he's still out there, too tired to carry on” Hagrid obviously must have seen Tom Riddle’s skill as a Wizard in school and knew that a wizard that was as skilled as Tom was wouldn’t let themselves be killed just like that and Hagrid rightly suspected that his old friend was still alive

Well JKR also says Cursed Child is canon even though that doesn't add up, and I don't know any Potterhead that counts it truly as the 8th book, so I'm completely on board with your theory. It makes the most sense, there's no plot holes in it. No offense to Gryffindors, but Hagrid to me seems like someone that doesn't like attention. Also, he spent a long time trying to convince people that magical creatures aren't inherently bad, and I can see him trying to fight against the Slytherin stereotype in his youth. In my opinion there's no way he wasn't a Slytherin. If he was a Gryffindor he wouldn't have done so many tasks alone, like going to talk to giants with only the Beauxbatons woman and taking care of Aragog; imo that's a Slytherin thing, they tend to take care of business without drawing attention to themselves. And he's not a pureblood wizard I don't think, so maybe that's why he got so hurt when Malfoy called Hermione a mudblood. Maybe he was called that as well.
@brittanya.70636 жыл бұрын

Brittany A. Tom Riddle was a Prefect, someone in a position of authority and trust, which Tom gleefully abused to get away with murder, and take away one of the few things Hagrid had left. (His mother had long since left, and his father had died the previous summer. Hagrid had only three things: His wand, his home at Hogwarts, and Aragog. Tom Riddle took all those away from him just to cover up his own crimes.) A Slytherin ruined Hagrid's life, and he had to watch as most of his classmates became Dark wizards who followed that Slytherin. Is it any wonder he says most Dark Wizards are from Slytherin? He knows better than most that true evil has been spawned by that house.

Every house elf at Hogwarts were fired by their masters, at least as far as I know (please correct me if I’m wrong, the last time I read the books were 7,5 years ago). The elves see it as an honour when they have someone to serve, and they (I’m not including Dobby right now) don’t want any kind of payment for doing so. Hagrid knows a lot about magical creatures: diets, natural habitat, values etc... he probably knew what elves would think of SPEW. Seeing as SPEW kinda broke their moral and honorary code, they would dislike it. Hagrid were against SPEW because he knew that most elves would be offended by it

Ingemaja That can indeed be the case. It makes sense. But the House- Elves don't know any better. I agree with Hermoine on the whole S.P.E.W. thing. But of course, Hagrid would believe that they didn't want it, for he would know them well. So I guess it makes sense, yeah.

Exactly what I was thinking, the Hufflepuff common room is in the dungeons too! I always thought of Hagrid as a Hufflepuff, no matter what J.K. Rowling said in some interviews afterwards. Hagrid is fiercely loyal and accepts everyone, as you can see in his treatments of magical creatures. He's a bit like Newt Scamander in that (who is a Hufflepuff) :)

counter-theory: Swagrid was in gryffindor, but during that time Tom Riddle did try to get Hagrid within his early forming inner circle. Maybe as a set up to frame Hagrid the whole time, or realizing Hagrid was a softie then framed him.

Hagrid could not be a slytherin. And yes, Tom Riddle would know who he was... after all he was a half giant... how many people you think would NOT know who Hagrid was. It would have been hard to miss him. A six foot tall 1st year... yeah he would be quite hard to notice... NOT. And before I forget... Cedric Diggory and Newt Scamander were also Hufflepuffs... as I am.

I'm convinced. I also think JK Rowling is biased to Gryffindor. She naturally makes every strong character that because she identifies closely to them.

Aqua Marine Yea peter doesn’t make sense because he’s a coward...definitely not Gryiffindor(y) (Brave) Tbh he is more of a Ravenclaw or Slytherin

Hagrid also has apparently no issues going into Knockturn Alley as well. Maybe it’s because of his size that he’s generally left alone but perhaps his possible former Slytherin status allows for the others there (mostly dark wizards and witches) to regardlessly accept him.

J, I think you were too convincing with your Hufflepuff argument. Most of the comments I'm seeing are "Hagrid is a total Hufflepuff!" Personally, I believe the Slytherin idea, because it fits _perfectly_ in the story. Plus, Slytherins are intensely loyal to those who have earned their trust, like Dumbledore and Harry. He no longer felt any loyalty to Slytherin house after seeing the ways it had treated others and himself. And don't say Hagrid doesn't have ambition! It's pretty dang ambitious to: 1) Buy a dragon egg and try to raise it in a wooden house without any help 2) Be expelled in the *third year* and somehow become gamekeeper, then manage to get whatever qualifications needed to teach students (hello, they're not going to let just anyone teach). 3) Barter with giants and live near them 4) Travel home alone with one of said giants and manage not to die 5) Attempt to teach said giant English 6) ACTUALLY SUCCEED at a lot of this. I'm fully convinced.

An ambition is something you want to do. Him wanting to get expelled is unlikely.

I disagree partly with number two, Dumbledore would let anyone teach. Look at the DADA teachers throughout the years, *almost* every teacher has a reason why "hey maybe I shouldn't hire them" JK Hagrid's great and I agree with you

I see your point, personally, I think you got your point across better than J did because I stand by the Hufflepuff theory strongly and yet you got me to rethink my point where as J did not. Great job.

I think he is a Hufflepuff, because he is friendly and hard-working, and (like he said) he is loyal to Dumbledore.

Well, Hermione exhibits a lot of Ravenclaw traits. People argue that Ron could be in Hufflepuff (something I don't agree with). Finally, let's look at the big man himself, Dumbledore. A man who exhibits traits from all four houses and represents a united Hogwarts, is still a Gryffindor.

Hufflepuff is the only choice that makes any kind of sense, Hagrid isn't especially cunning or ambitious, so Slytherin is out, He's not insanely smart, so Ravenclaw doesn't make sense, and while he is brave to a certain extent giving his desire to work with dangerous animals, I seriously doubt that's the kind of Bravery they are looking for.
