@charlescernoch76862 жыл бұрын
I myself an a Slytherin, and you are correct they aren't evil. More ambitious to a fault sometimes, we also have a tendency to be cunning. Him creating his own lightsaber style to harness his dark side is ambitious, he looked at the other 7 styles of combat and went "yeah nah, that stuff isn't good enough." Shatterpoint as well is a very cunning power, rather than facing things head on like what a Gryffindor would do, it allows him to identify weaknesses and pin point on that.

@@whatsup2318 the thing about light and dark is that they are not the same as good and evil. The big problem with this sort of thing is that George isn’t JK, and therefore has different takes on what heroism is all about. This is the first comment I have seen that is a solid argument for hufflepuff, but I see it as a sort of luna lovegood thing, learning about different people, planets, and cultures through the strays he picks up. But after she leaves the Jedi Order i think she's 100% Ravenclaw. She's an extremely good mechanic, in Mandalorian she is extremely wise and careful and always treads with caution, and also the Ahsoka novel portrays her more on the Ravenclaw side with all her plans and everything. I usually have a similar type of thought process with these things as J, but I REALLY can't agree that Leia is a Slytherin. His entire argument hinges on the "ambition" of starting the rebellion and resistance. The only problem there is that we have a DIRECT parallel to this in Harry Potter. Just because the Golden Trio has the massive ambition to make a ragtag group to go up against Voldy doesn't mean they should all be in Slytherin. While it is ambitious to do something like that, J needs to stop getting fixated on specific actions taken by the characters and focus on the core of who they are. Ben has done much better in this episode at evaluating someone's spirit and drive. I felt similarly about his Qui-Gon reasoning. Just because he cheated or lied once doesn't override every other bit of information we have on him.

I’m thinking primarily of the Leia: Princess of Aldaaran book, which it’s been a while since I read so forgive me if I’m slightly mistaken. In order to claim her right as heiress to Aldaaran Leia has to complete three tasks. I remember one of them is humanitarian in nature (giving out aid to a desperate world). The other was to climb a mountain that her step mother was nearly killed attempting during her trials. And joining the junior senate (or whatever it was called). All of it seemed routine. What Leia did during the humanitarian task was smuggle people off the planet by hiring them as help. Tricking and angering the empire. This to me seems like Leia more than anything else her kindness led her to use her mind and wits to get out of situations. I would say this puts her in Hufflepuff, but I can see how she would value wit and cunningness to help others as a politician, which could put her in slytherin.

Qui gon is definitely a hat stall and I feel like he's the ultra rare hat stall that can be sorted into any of the houses. At the end of the day, the final decision for a hat stall is about what they valued most and I see qui gon choosing hufflepuff. He's not motivated by ambition, nor do I think hes overly fixated on bravery or particularly brash though he certainly possesses traits valued by both houses. He's not really concerned with gathering knowledge beyond what is required for him to be able to do what is right by the force. Qui Gons ultimate mission is to maintain the balance in the force, doing what is best for the universe. Like i said, I can't hate on any house chosen for qui gon. For me, I see it in this order: hufflepuff, ravenclaw/slytherin (tied) then gryffindor. Sidenote: it bothers me jay says something about him cheating the dice because hufflepuffs aren't just goody two shoes. Cedric showed that he was willing to be dishonest ie cheat in the triwizard tournament. It's not something incredibly egregious, he just got help on things and he shared information on the second task with Harry because Harry shared with him what the first task was. Qui Gon is a very difficult one, because he has this very important characteristic which has to be what would ultimately decide where he's put, but that characteristic is really hard to put in any of the houses. This instrumental characteristic is his complete trust in the force, always following what the force instructs him, and striving for balance in the force. That's why he's so rebellious and different in his ways, and why he once declined an invite to be on the council. He doesn't care about politics or what the council has to say, he just follows what the force. This makes him really different to put in a house. He's really wise, his general calm characteristic, and him really studying the force is what could make him a ravenclaw. Rebelling against the council to do the right thing, you could kinda put him in Gryffindor, but that has the weakest case I would say. Then of course you could say Qui Gon is quite ambitious in his goals, and really putting that goal before everything. His goal is also kind of a case of "the greater good", and he's not caring that much about anything besides that, leaving anakin's mother in slavery and such. So Slytherin is a valid pick in those regards. But I would say Qui Gon is a hufflepuff, for the simple reason that he's just really, REALLY, incredibly loyal. Not to the jedi, actually kind of the opposite, but to the force.

Mace using knowledge of both light and dark sides of the force to improve his abilities is really a ravenclaw thing to do. And Asoka, especially later, is a character who walks her own path based on what she's learned over the years makes me think of her as the Luna lovegood of star wars. Ahsoka is way more a Hufflepuff. Luna would have been a Hufflepuff had her constant drive to seek knowledge not taken over. Ahsoka exhibits the main traits of loyalty, justice, truth, and acceptance that Hufflepuff embodies way more than the really only trait of wit/knowledge that Ravenclaw prioritizes.

Anakin is totally a Puff. Like sure, he has plenty of bravery, arrogance, and ambition, but his *main* thing as both a person and a his character arc, is his outright obsessive loyalty, his inability to let go, and his expectation of the same out of others. Itself leading to the almost inevitable disappointment and anger when they fall short of meeting it.
@ThatOneLadyOverHere2 жыл бұрын
Yes! And all of his reasons for choosing the dark side hinge on his relationships with people. His trust in the Chancellor. His desire for the council to trust him. His desire to save Padme. I think he acts like a Griffindor, but it isn't because he values bravery. He is confident and cocky, but his dependence on the people he loves is his driving force.

@ThatOneLadyOverHere2 жыл бұрын
@@darthanakinII I disagree. Mainly because what ultimately decides your place is what you value most not how you act. Yes Anakin values power, but it's for the benefit of the people he loves. All of the decisions he makes that lead up to his fall are all for the people he loves. He is brave to save the people he loves. He seeks power to save the people he loves. He befriended his droid and refuses to wipe its memory because he values it as a personified ai. He's smart, but that doesn't make him a ravenclaw.
@bluesidecollection Жыл бұрын
I think he is loyal, but he is way too ambitious (and eventually power hungry) to be a Hufflepuff. He did anything for power. He kind of reminds me of the Malfoy family. At the end of the day they switched sides as need be for power and to protect the family. Which a lot of Slytherin families did. Bellatrix was extremely loyal to Voldermort, but she would never be a Hufflepuff. I think all the houses overlap. Slytherins and Ravenclaws are both ambitious but for different reasons. Slytherins are also very loyal to family. That's why the bloodline is so important. If Anakin had more Hufflepuff traits he definitely would have listened to Padma way more. Slytherins have a tendency to think their way is the best way. Plus while loyality is a Hufflepuff trait so is sense of justice and patience. A Hufflepuff wouldn't switch sides so fast and would try to change the faults of the system. I think Padma is a Hufflepuff. While both Anakin and Padma were extremely loyal, she has a stronger sense of justice and morals than Anakin. Anakin gave up a lot of morals for the sake of power.
@Dunstan9 Жыл бұрын
@@bluesidecollection Anakin, and even Vader really, aren't actually all that "ambitious" or glory hungry actually. Such as him basically dismissing and paying no mind to the whole "Chosen One" thing. What they are is cocky and fixated on how things "should" be. The failure of reality to live up to that "should" then leading to the whole "fear leads to anger" thing Yoda talked about. Take the anger at Obi-Wan in AotC for "holding him back". It is not rooted in a lust for power, but in him displacing the blame for what he would otherwise see as his own failure to measure up. All of which is ultimately rooted both in being another expression of his inability to let go, and in his binary view of right and wrong that allows for little to no in between.

I say this is a really tough sorting. Because I doubt everyone is unified on WHICH version of the character they’re sorting. Just using Anakin as an example, like you guys said. He’d be sorting into 3 different houses depending on which period you’re looking at. Young Ani is a Puff. Clone Wars Ani is a Gryffindor. Revenge of the Sith Ani is a Slytherin. Also, no offense(I love you guys), but your level of Star Wars knowledge isn’t as big as your Harry Potter knowledge. Ezra, for example, is UNDOUBTEDLY a Puff. Ezra jumping into fights he can’t win isn’t because he’s overconfident, it’s because he’s trying to protect his friends. Also Luke, in Episode 5 and 6, is a Puff. He literally abandons his training with Yoda the moment he learns his friends are in danger. Friends(and sister) who are then threatened by Palpatine and Vader in the next movie, which make him MAD. I’d argue early Leia is a Slytherin(or is this Gryffindor behavior). Because the first time we see her on screen, she LIES to Darth Vader’s face. She’s on a ship that just left the Battle of Scarif. Vader was THERE. He KNOWS she’s lying and she still tries it anyways.

I have a question on Harry Potter lore! In the movie adaptation of Philosopher/Sorceror's Stone (I forget how close this is to the book), when Quirrel is trying to kill Harry, he's able to choke him without a problem, but the moment Harry grabs him - first on the hand and then the face - Quirrel's flesh smokes, burns, and turns to dust - and when Harry does this to Quirrel's face, it kills him. If we know that Lilly Potter's loving sacrifice made it initially impossible for Voldemort to touch Harry... how come Quirrel was able to choke Harry - touching his bare throat - but not abide the touch of his hands, specifically? Surely any contact of any sort should have been deadly or at least agonizingly painful.
Luke is clearly a Slytherin. All he wants in that first movie is to get away and do bigger things, fight the Rebels, be a Jedi, etc. that’s ambition, baby!

He pulls his saber as a last resort, yes manipulates the dice and mind-tricks but uses them to avoid violence, and will stand loyally by those around him (Darth Maul fight, protecting those around but escapes ASAP, trust in those around him to work with his way and know him) Yeah, I definitely see QuiGon as a Hufflepuff and have from the start.

Oh my Kenobi YES! Obi Wan is a mixture of Qui Gon and Yoda so when the question was posed as to his Hogwarts House my husband said Gryffindor and I said Hufflepuff! Yoda is totally Ravenclaw for both of us! Luke Skywalker is definitely blind Gryffindor for the rash and boldness that he possesses. He is a space wizard so he is the Harry Potter of the Star Wars franchise. I would place Mace Windu in Ravenclaw because he was a very wise man and I believe that he was more intuned with the Force than most Jedi and knew that Anakin was corrupted. Qui Gon is Gryffindor for me because if you want to use his "feel don't think" when it comes to the Force then he is definitely in the right house. We also get to see him manipulating the force for his benefit which you can say if the Weasley Twins had this power they would have used that as well. He only manipulated the dice because of the slave owner was not going to let him go after he had won the race. Qui Gon was right in Anakin bringing balance to the force but just not in the way that everyone expected. Anakin Skywalker was a very hardworking (Hufflepuff) little boy but he became Slytherin in the end. Anakin Skywalker put his trust in the wrong person. Palpatine ruined Anakin Skywalker! Rey is in my opinion a Ravenclaw because she was a scavenger from the beginning. Leia would be Gryffindor with her being the leader of the Rebellion. The Rebellion is the Harry Potter equivalent of Dumbledore's Army or the Order of the Phoenix. Ahsoka Tano is a plethora of different houses but the one that stands out the most to me is Slytherin because she turns her back on the Jedi Order and gets trained by Vader. Kanan Jarus would be Slytherin. Kanan is Draco Malfoy's equivalent. Ezra is the mirror opposite of Neville Longbottom and would definitely be in Gryffindor. He is super confident but incompetent.

You could argue that their core traits won't change as they grow, so the age doesn't matter but I don't know. I feel like headmaster Dumbledore could've been a slytherin, even if little Dumbledore was clearly a griffindor. My opinion is that people vote more on the traits the characters show in the series vs the traits they most value. Remember, if we did that in Harry Potter, Hermione would be a Ravenclaw and Neville would be a Hufflepuff. Just sayin'. So I vote... -Obi-Wan: Hufflepuff (although that argument for Gryffindor is strong. I think he values fairness over bravery, however.) -Yoda: Ravenclaw -Luke: Gryffindor -Mace: Slytherin (but really split between Ravenclaw too) -Qui-Gon: Ravenclaw (no doubt. he is the definition of creativity, originality, and individuality...all Ravenclaw traits that I think he always values. He was taken by young Anakin BECAUSE he was special and unique.) -Anakin: Slytherin (Anakin and Darth Vader may be different characters, but they still share the same house. There is not a more ambitious, cunning, prideful, or resourceful character in the whole Staw Wars universe!) -Rey: Hufflepuff (This one is hard because she is so resourceful and self-preserving like a Slytherin but without the ambition or pride. And I would have said Gryffindor no doubt because of her daring and courage, except I don't think she values those things. I think she ultimately values loyalty and justice the most and she is super modest and hard working. So that's what helped me make my choice.) -Leia: Ravenclaw (I was almost certain I would have said Slytherin! But, although she has like EVERY SINGLE Slytherin trait, I think she values intelligence and wisdom and sharpness more than anything else. She always backed up anyone who brought a creative solution to the table and she herself was very witty and wise. Hence Ravenclaw.) -Ahsoka: Hufflepuff (She is super brave and I would have put her in Gryffindor but she always struck me as someone who valued fairness and justice and treating others with respect. Plus she was very loyal to what she stood for, even if she left the Jedi Order.) -Kanan: Ravenclaw (I haven't seen much of the Rebels show, but what I've seen makes me think he values intelligence.) -Ezra: Slytherin (Again, haven't seen much of Rebels).

Anakin is a character that could fit in any house truth be told He shares traits of every house and I think his strongest it Gryffindor or Slytherin However his sense of loyalty is a key factor, he always puts himself in way of danger first and values the life of every clone and also very fair to his friends and is always hard at work improving his combative ability I would honestly say Hufflepuff but it’s tricky so I think either Hufflepuff or Slytherin

I was following the Qui-Gon as a Slytherin until I remembered the line where Obi-Wan says if he just did what the council wanted he would be in a high rank but he doesn’t care about power and just turns it down. But I do not know where the hufflepuff came from haha

He takes Anakin to train him. “Good Hufflepuff, she took the rest and taught them all she knew.” Qui gon is also fiercely loyal to the force above all else, even his position in the Jedi order.

Young Luke reads more Hufflepuff to me. Sure he makes brash choices, but it's almost always to help his friends

😂vader is a huffle puff Neal caffree is a Gryphondor. 🦁Cordel walker? Gryphondor!

I can see why people think of Qui-Gonn as a Hufflepuff: he is loyal to the Force above all else. Not the jedi way, but the Force.

Anakin definitely is a mixed bag. I can argue great points for all of the houses. But for me he falls into Slytherin. Ambition, resourcefulness, cleverness, determination >>> that is all Anakin; from kid Anakin to Clone wars Anakin to ROTS Anakin.

Anakin is the perfect example of the “bad guy” Gryfindor. He’s as arrogant and cocky as possible, he’ll go and try something without thinking it through, and he values bravery and friends.

Reminiscent of a young James Potter; his heart of hearts is good, but he can also be very impulsive and arrogant.

How bout killing all the sand ppl and executing count dooku, I feel like both of those actions makes him a slytherin, plus he’s willing to go to the dark side to prevent death, literally what Voldemort does, like he kills kids to allegedly save padme

Windu is 100% Slytherin .... His fighting style (of which he is the only master) focuses on utilizing the dark side of the force to find the enemies "shatterpoint" (The book 'Shatterpoint' is my source.)

Also Qui-gon has the ultimate loyalty to the force. He is the one that discovers how to become a force ghost and he teaches Yoda and the others.

Regardless of the mentioning of Disney Wars material(and it's characters) such as the Sequels and the Mando. This was quite a fun idea and I agreed with most of them.

I agree with J that Lea is a Slytherin. She has the sass, shrewdness, intelligence, leadership ability, and ambition that are all valued by the house.

Anakin is definitely Slytherin based off of how ambitious he is. He dreams big, he is desperate to prove himself and he says he is choosing the dark side for Padme, but in the end, it feels like he is more lured by the promise of power.

Yes he's been ambitious/cocky since he was a child.. He's either Slytherin or Gryffindor..no contest

You’ve convinced me that Anakin is a Hufflepuff turned evil! I struggle to place people in hufflepuff because they’re the house I understand the least

Me: Has only watched two Star Wars movies. And neither of them were the “good” ones. Also me: Yeah. Let’s see what Houses these characters are in, even though I don’t know 90% of their names.
