I think the book that Harry is drawn to in the restricted section, could actually be magic most evil, because while searching for information on Horcrux’s, Hermione, find it, and read out to Harry that it states who cruxes are not discussed she closes the book with frustration and it does let out a small scream.

Chapter 11: Quidditch. AKA: The Dumbest Assassination Attempt Ever. Like seriously what was Quirrel's plan? Harry falls off his broom and then what? The entire job of a bludger is literally to "unseat as many players as possible." Harry falls off his broom in POA and is knocked off his broom by McLaggen in HBP. Clearly there were safety measures in place to save him before he fell to his death. Even if Quirrel had successfully cursed Harry off his broom, Harry was never in any danger of dying.

Man! i never thought the mirror to bring nothing but some echos from deep inside Harry's mind. as we know he has some memories locked up in his head as dementors show him in the third book. so even when more of Harry's relatives show up, i always thought them to be just random people with different features from Harry in them. but if Lily and James were "pulled" from the afterlife by the mirror, i can't stop imagining excited Lily and James pulling the Potter family with them to see their son.

Something I recently thought of, based strictly from the movie. When McGonagall hails Wood from Quirell’s class, does anyone else notice that the roar sounds from Quirells room sounds oddly similar to the sound of Devil’s Snare once exposed to light? Quirell can be heard talking about a Vampire Bat at the end, so you would presume he is talking about nocturnal creatures. So it seems that Quirell has already figured out how to get past the second obstacle after Fluffy.

Since we’re nearing completion of the second book, I decided to go back and re-listen/re-watch your TTGD Supercuts (thanks for putting these together btw!). I actually have some interesting insight about how the Gaunts may be descendent from the second brother is his “great love” died. I had a great uncle who was head over heels for a girl, but she married another man while he was away at war (WW2). He pined for her, hoping she’d divorce or her husband would die and refused to move on. In the meantime, there was another girl in his town who was head-over-heels in love with him. He basically “friend-zoned” her for about 20 years. When the woman he’d been pinning for passed away in her 40’s, he finally married the other girl. So it’s absolutely possible to have “one great love”, but still marry someone else later so you at least have companionship, even if they’re not your 1st choice.

To the point about Wood knowing about golf, but not basketball: I can see a Scottish wizard knowing about golf from an early age. They may be wizards, but he’s still Scottish. His dad golfs. And in 1991 when the book is set, basketball probably wasn’t a very prominent sport in the UK. It predated the ‘92 Dream Team, so that cultural thing hasn’t happened yet.

3:11:50 This is my personal theory after listening to that part but maybe the story is as told in the tale (without Death's shenanigans) and the second brother left the stone to his fiancee's family which later integrated into the Gaunt or were the Gaunts to begin with or to his disciple who was a Gaunt or his descendants became. This way it still holds true to the story while giving an explanation to how the stone got there. Salutes from Spain.

I believe the map does show mad-eye and Barty crouch jr. it just doesn’t differentiate between barty crouch sr. And jr. I think there’s one point in goblet where Harry checks the map and sees mad eye in his office (the real mad eye, locked in the chest) and barty crouch (jr, though he thinks it’s sr.) in snape’s office. Another burning or rather, melting easter egg type question, why weren't first years allowed to keep their own broomsticks in School? because people like Malfoy and the weasleys had their own broomstcks, probably before coming to Hogwarts, so, they would be somewhat familiar with Quidditch if not just zipping around hidden places in the countryside where they lived on their broomsticks.

Oh, this drives me so crazy. Guys. GUYS. I love your content, but come on. Dumbledore says the line about "how few wizards could see what you saw" after Harry sees himself holding the Philosopher's Stone but not using it! He even goes on to describe others seeing themselves with riches or drinking the elixer! That line has nothing to do with Harry seeing himself with his family! Which is sweet, is lovely, but doesn't seem that unusual. Particularly after the first wizarding war when all kinds of families had been torn apart! I imagine a good many wizards and witches would see themselves with their families, whole and happy - unless you really think wizards are that shallow? Heck, by your own theory, that's the vision of the definitely-not-pure-hearted guy that created it in the first place. Harry is unusual because he was one of a very, very small number of wizards who wanted the Philosopher's Stone for a reason besides personal gain. But what he sees on that first trip to the mirror is entirely expected.

2:44:45 To be fair, in defence of the Dursleys, I don't think they even HAD a picture of Harry's parents, and would NOT have bothered to find / get one to show to Harry. They were not expecting Harry to arrive at their doorstep at all, and for all practical purposes, they were completely Cut-off from Lily and James, intentionally at that. Why would they have a picture?
@Dartitis-266 ай бұрын
I think Petunia would still have a picture of Lily somewhere from a time in which they were children, because why wouldn't she, she might not even know she still has it (of couse that still meant she didn't show it Harry because she didn't know she had it in the first place). But maybe in the basement or the attic in an old wooden box there is stuff from Petunia's childhood including pictures. I mean, Petunia will have pictures of her parents, and those pictures will include Lily. But you're right, she would never have a picture of James and baby Harry and probably not a family picture from their wedding as well, as she clearly severed ties (shoutout to Perce) with her at that point in Lily's life. I think if Harry ever asked to see a picture of his parents she'd simply say she hasn't got any, and she wouldn't even be lying, she'd just assume that to be correct, and even if she showed Harry a picture of Lily it would have been a childhood one and not a picture of Lily how she looked like as an adult and mother-which would've been quite an interesting situation, Harry only having a picture of his mother from when she was younger than he is.

Hey SuperCarlinBrothers, I think this might give your Harry Potter fan brains a good workout: Why Dumbledore knows moody is fake (focus on 4th point): 1. The memory in the pensieve that Harry stumbles upon means that Dumbledore was onto Barty Crouch Jr, he just wasn’t able to figure out how or if he is alive. 2. He knows that someone is stealing from snape and making polyjuice potion. 3. As the amount of stuff stolen was large, and when crouch sr dies, it implies that the perpetrator is in disguise and living in hogwarts and needs to drink the potion constantly. It is also suggested by the fact that Harry’s name was thrown by the goblet: to trick Dumbledore’s protective enchantments, it would ve taken time and required the perpetrator to be inside hogwarts. 4. All this should ve been a speculation with just one link missing. This link was provided by Harry when he tells Dumbledore about his dream. Dumbledore also INTENDED Harry to see the Barty Crouch court memory. Dumbledore knows the connection between Harry and Voldemort and knows the significance of this dream where BARTY CROUCH JR IS STILL ALIVE. And now the disappearance/killing of Barty Crouch Sr further adds to it, the ceiling incident in the beginning and everything would have made sense to Dumbledore. There might be another possibility: Dumbledore knows that Voldemort must be finished off by Harry and therefore must be brought back to life and the secret of Horcruxes be identified to kill off voldemort for good. He might also have guessed that Voldemort will use Harry’s blood in his ignorance, meaning Harry is safe. What he actually might have missed was that the cup was a Portkey or that Harry and Cedric might go together; as he would never risk a student’s (Cedric’s) life.

I was puzzling about the lighting of the lamp in the library here. Harry would surely have learnt, Lumos, the spell which would make his wand tip light up. Hermione could have taught him that if the teachers didn't, so I'm guessing he lit a lamp because he didn't know there was an spell, charm, incantation to make his wand tip light so he could see his way with his wand instead of risking a smashed lamp which was still hot, found seconds later by Filch when Harry legged it after the book screamed.

Ok so what if the story of the brothers is the coded recording of what you need to nake each item. The elderwood plucked by death is possibly code for using thestral hair as a core in an elder wand. Death plucking a stone and turning it thrice are i believe involve taking an item from a thestral (maybe an eyeball) and casting an unknown spell upon it. The clues for the cloak are found in the story and during the xmas reveal. Death cutting his own cloak is the thestral hair. Harry says the cloak feels like water woven into cloth. Perhaps the cloak is woven from thestral hair and water (possibly from the river in the tale or lethe river water, perhaps the river in the tale is the lethe river just outside the underworld). Finally i believe emotion is key in powering each spell used to make each item. Pride and/or ambition was folded into the wand, sorrow and/or longing was used to forge the stone, and love and/or peace stitched the cloak.
