Your missing one additional fact. Dumbledore would have the cloak at the time the eye was made. Dumbledore said he wanted to study it. The eye could have been made as part of the studying process to see what it would take to see through it. So the eye could have been made before Moody needed it. Also, also Dumbledore knew James as a kid. So the eye could have been made even earlier. But it makes more sense it was done when Dumbledore was studying the cloak.

I completely forgot that Moody got his eye after Voldemort fell. I always thought it was much earlier. Given how cautious Moody is, there's no way he would just use any old magical artifact, especially one of unknown origin to replace his eye. So at the very least he must have gotten it from Dumbledore (who else would he trust?) From that logic, Dumbledore making it isn't a huge leap as he wouldn't give Moody something he didn't 100% trust himself and the only way to do that would be to make it. Somewhat circular logic but it does make sense in context.

So now we need a What If series concerning Dumbledore’s Hallows. The eye(replaces the stone), the deluminator (replaces the cloak), and Hagrid’s umbrella (replaces the wand). What if Voldemort believed in the hallows and sought them all out, and Harry had to use Dumbledore’s newly created hallows to combat them?
@edeepolyakovsky72019 ай бұрын
This would be so awesome but I think the eye would replace the cloak and the deluminator would replace the stone. SCB made a video before theorizing that Dumbledore made the deluminator as an attempt to recreate the powers of the stone (i.e. reaching your loved ones) and in this video they talk about the eye’s power to see through the cloak. The three objects are almost like anti-Hollows. The eye penetrates the cloak, the deluminator brings you to your loved ones, but only if they are alive unlike the stone which shows you your dead loved ones but can’t bring you to them, and Hagrid’s umbrella is a humble wand which people are led to believe is not even actually a wand, while the elder wand is famous and believed to be the most powerful wand of all. Anyway, a What If? video about this would be great!
@kayleighlehrman95669 ай бұрын
Harry is already the bona fide master of the Cloak, there's no way Tom could get it without first killing Harry and then after that he'd have no reason to pursue the Wand or the Stone.

What puzzles me about the Eye is how many “layers” can it see through? We know it can see through the Cloak. We also know that it can see through clothing (He can see the socks from Dobby under Harry’s dress robes at the Yule Ball). It can also see through the floor/ceiling and furniture (he sees the boggart at Headquarters in Order). Can he (literally) see through people and their clothes? Can he see anywhere in a building? Is there a limit? Does he have to consciously think what he wants to focus on? (That sounds mentally exhausting, overstimulating, and taxing.) is this mentioned anywhere? What do y’all think?

I like this much more than the „it came from Grindelwald“ thing that sometimes comes up and just relies on Grindy having one normal, but strikingly blue eye. I am not sold on the idea that the eye was made by Dumbledore, thou he might have helped enchanting it. However I feel like the biggest misconception is with the, "ability to Invisibility Cloaks". I don't think the eye can see beneath an invisibility cloak, it can simply see a protection spell in effect. And that may have something to do with the color blue, and how that arbsorbs light from sources.
@therealsarlic47029 ай бұрын
It’s confirmed the eye can see through Harry’s cloak, because in the same scene where he sees Harry under it, he sees Harry mouthing and pointing at the Marauders Map telling Moody that it belongs to him, so Snape won’t take it.

What if Harry wasn't the true master of the cloak? If you think about it, the cloak stayed in the bloodline because it was handed down through the generations. Something that’s always bothered me a little is how Barry Crouch Jr is so adamant that he hated death eaters who went free, effectively denouncing their allegiance with Voldy, yet, during his hearing he displays determined denial of his own guilt. Belatrix, on the other hand, continues her bold support of Voldemort in the face of conviction. It just seems as though it’s a bit against character, given how he is later revealed to be.
@magosiakaszaowicz33866 ай бұрын
Maybe he was the only one who had a chance to walk free because od his family connections. After all, that's what happened, his mother freed him from azkaban. He could have been pretending to foul her. Bellatrix probably didn't have any hope so she just used the situation to show her support to voldy.

His issue was with the fact that they'd abandoned the cause more than anything. Claiming innocence to go free and then work from the shadows isn't necessarily abandoning the cause, so it does line up with his principles in theory.

I had a discussion specifically about Harry being able to resist "Moody s" Imperio and the little voice coming up in his head for it. is it Harry s subconsiousness or is it Voldemort, who does not want to be controlled? Whilst it is possible and maybe even probable Dumbledore made they eye, I have a few issues with the theory (theories I guess). 1. Do we know the Elder Wand really could repair wands? We only see it in this one specific case where Harry is the owner of both wands, so we can't really say whether it can repair others. I always wondered what happened to Dumbledore's original wand and whether he just magicked that into an umbrella for Hagrid? It doesn't really matter either way, as if the EW could repair wands, Dumbledore would have done. 2. I don't think Dumbledore could see Harry under the coat at Hagrid's, I think he just used intuition. Hagrid was being rather obvious by looking at that corner and being all jittery. To anyone who knew Harry possessed the cloak, it would have been clear he was there. That or he just saw him walk there earlier from his office window or used non-verbal magic. That's sorta it, I do believe Dumblie created the eye, but the biggest question that remains: WHAT DOESE THE BOGGART LOOK LIKE TO MOODY (when he sees it through several floors)?! Sorry for shouting, but I've been asking myself that for years. Is it a shapeless mass or something he fears? Also that whole seeing through clothes thing is mega creepy considering he's at a school... How does it work? Does he have to focus on it to look through it? It seems a little head-fornicating otherwise.

I listen to Stephen Fry, and the brothers listen to Jim Dale so mixing up the narrators would also add some spice to the quiz

Hey! Love your Videos and particulary your theories! I had a question: Could it be possible that Voldemort also had a time turner in school? He is Always described as being a fantastic Student and even without muggle studies, he would have had 11 subjects (Hermione still had one after she quid Trelawnys class) And I think it could be argued that He had all Others considering that you would need a lot of subjects to be viewed as one of the best students Hogwarts ever had and be ready for a great future in the ministery. Edit: Especially in year 5 he could have used the extra time to search for the chamber of secrets and of course to keep a close eye in Hagrid (although maybe He entrusted his followers with the latter).

Reading the books, I was left with the impression that the eye was actually in Moody's eye socket, rather than being like an eye patch :P

I was rewatching the first movie with my little sister who finally turned 8 and could start watching the movies (parents rule, not mine) and she asked a pretty interesting question. She saw the part where Harry stabs the book with the fang and I explained to her that the venom is what’s killing it. She asked me “does it have to be magical for that to work? Or could we throw the book in lava?” And that got me to go on a whole breakdown trying to think that through. Like magical items were used to destroy the hocrux’s but what if instead of using the sword or fang, we simply use muggle creations like a hydraulic press or acts of nature like a volcano? (Or something crazy implausible like throwing the ring into a black hole?). Would those things work?

Following this logic, the eye feels like a countermeasure against the invisibility cloak in case it was ever stolen.

Mad-Eye's eye has always reminded me of the Eye of Sauron from The Lord of the Rings.

i think i remember you guys having a theory about this eye at some time. the scenario that moody got it from dumbledore was similar but the origin of the eye was different. the theory was that it was grindelwalds eye which dumbledore took after his victory. i always likes that theory and forgot it wasnt canon haha this new theory is also nice thought

I think the evidence for it is much more sparse, but I liked better the theory that it's Grindelwalds eye that he has. Still perhaps given by Dumbledore, harkening back to their connection. Or even an invention of the two of them during their time together

It would make sense that they both made it together as they were both obsessed w/ the deathly hallows & would need a way to find the cloak

i very much like this theory, i've always been a bit "meh" on you guys' idea that it was somehow grindewald's blue eye, just didn't seem to fit or make all that much sense, but i have no trouble accepting that dumbledore with the elder wand could make something on par in ability with a deathly hallow, really nicely put together this one!

I like this theory for SO many reasons!! First of all, I've ALWAYS hated the fact that fake Moody could see though Harry's cloak. That should just be IMPOSSIBLE, if we are to believe it to be such a powerful object that can hide you from death itself. But this theory gives credit to the fact that Moody can see through the cloak. I have always LOVED how Dumbledore knew that they were hiding in the corner of Hagrid's hut, but just thought that "he know just about anything going on at Hogwards" (Yearh, no kidding :) if hes glasses can see through the cloak). Even though it's not relevant to the eye, the theory also explains how Hagrid's wand-brella works, as we know for a fact that Harry successfully repaired his own wand, using the Elder wand, where all other attempts to repair it has failed. So it totally makes sense that he repaired Hagrids wand and transfigured it into an umbrella to avoid suspicion from others, making it a wand-brella. Also, since Hagrid is such a huge asset to Dumbledore, he can't have that Hagrid does not have a wand, he NEEDS it in order to keep being a great asset. Side note: I also always loved how you in the first movie, when Harry returns to the mirror, how you can see Dumbledores shadow emerge out of nothing. It gives credit to the theory that Dumbledore himself has tried to replicate ALL of the hallows. The Deluminator was supposed to replicate the Stone of resurrect, but with the opposite effect (taking Dumbledore to see his sister, instead of bringing his sister to the living as the stone does... I think that he actually tried to cross over to the dead, just to see her). But as he'd need HER to say his name for the Deluminatior to work as intended, it never did as she was unable to actually say his name. It's not unreasonable to think that in his search for a way to hide himself (replicate the cloak), he found a way to see through stuff and it's not unlikely that he cast that spell on his own glasses. This also explains WHY he borrowed the cloak from James, so he could study it in order to replicate it. It would have given the Order a HUGE advantage over the Death Eaters! I don't know about the wand, I see many possibilities, one is that he'd already got it from Grindelwald so didn't bother trying to replicate it, another that he's not too keen to invent a killing object, that might possible fall into the hands of a Death Eater IF they were to win over a Phoenix member (He knows it's possible to beat the unbeatable wand after all).

I was always under the assumption that the eye was actually created by Grindelwald, as the keystone in his search for the Hallows. To see through all and detect the lingering traces of the Perveral's magic (or Death depending on where you land on who craeted them). Additionally, and I may be miss remembering something here but, isn't there a theory that Dumbledore put a charm or something on the cloak. The cloak being unfindable being disproved by the eye, or that he senses the mark he placed not the cloak giving him a rough sense that it is present.
