Maybe the cloak was part of that veil extracted and put into a specially designed invisibility cloak. It could help explain how the three brothers created their items. The eldest used the veil to balance his wand idea, the middle brother tried to pull a soul out from the other side and only managed to get a small stone through that held interesting effects for the user, and the youngest was curious about what the veil in the portal was altogether.

New Theory: I just thought of this while typing another comment, so it probably falls apart. What if the original dementors were a group of witches and wizards who created horcruxes to explore the veil--possibly haveing one on each side--but upon returning, they were trapped in between life and death, misshapen, and with the need to consume souls or at least strong emotions in order to survive, because their soul was left on the other side. The reason it's foggy when new dementors are being born--I think that was in the books...--could be because what's left of the souls the dementors consume with a dementor's kiss are returning from the other side of the veil as new dementors or something. As I said, I haven't fully thought this through.

Sirius' body was never recovered or seen, the veil would destroy the casing and then the soul. Then like a siren song, lure the remaining soul to it to reunite it. If it didn't moldy wouldn't be able to escape the veil, once all other horcrux were found and destroyed and his body was killed. Something Hermione says about fiend fire and how it destroys the horcrux, makes me think it would work, but not be the best way.

Please explore the idea that the Peverells "cheating death" in the story actually refers to them literally returning from the veil. I've liked that idea for a while but this idea of sending only part of your soul through made me think of it again. Then go cuckoo-bananas and explore the idea that the realm of death is actually where magic itself comes from, essentially borrowed by channeling through a wand. I mean Death gives the first brother a wand. And so many of the creatures used in wand crafting are death (or lack of death) themed; phoenix, unicorn, thestral. I guess it would make more sense if the Peverells were actually the first Wizards :(

If horcruxes are meant to prevent the user from passing onto the afterlife, and the veil is a way into the afterlife, wouldn't the horcrux just bounce off off it or otherwise be prevented from passing through it? Honestly based on the ankering effect of the horcrux my best guess is: Eithwer the Veil is a brick wall for Voldemort's horcruxes (the other Horcruxes pull it back using original voldy as a rope) or as you said, he gets yeeted over, depending on the horcrux yeeted through. Like the diary containing most of his soul would most likely completely pull him in.

If it remains intact then there is the possibility in Voldemort's case that rather than being trapped between it could allow him to travel between them freely. It still leaves him in the situation of risk if all living side horcruxes are destroyed but would allow access to knowledge and possibly materials from the other side.

@@Wormwoodification I don't know if you are deep into the story but before the events of the first book petunia Vernon James and Lily had met up and it didn't go well James and Vernon had a huge thing and that was the last time petunia saw Lily alive. The issue is three things 1 petunia was jealous that Lily was a witch, she wanted go to Hogwarts so bad that it made her acts like she hated them but she really wants to be them. 2 petunia already has a life set up for herself where is she call the Vernon about her sister and how she was ashamed of having a witch in the family, she thinks that if she expresses love for him or for Magic that she would lose everything and have nothing in both the Muggle world and Wizarding World. 3 she was always regretting the way she treated Lily that was her biggest regret. It tore her apart when she found out Lily was murdered and that Harry lost his mother. Deep down she loved him but her fear of losing everything and her inability to move past hurt feelings made her what she was

If I were Voldemort, these were my horcruxes: - The lost Ravenclaw Diadem, hidden in the room of requirements (something very hidden in a public place full of magic) - The goblet of Hufflepuff, hidden in a Gringot's vault (something in charge of my followers and protected by a magical institution without knowledge what it is) - Slytherin's Locket in a random, sealed cave protected by inferi and other deadly spells (similar as in the books, but with splitting information about it to multiple families of deatheaters) - A timeturner hold by Umbridge (can I then control time in some way or amp up my foreseeing abilities?!? let's try) - A pebble thrown inside the mariana trench (very difficult to spot and get to, just in case) - The golden record of the Voyager-One space probe (to really tie myself to this world and make sure I'm there where no man has gone before)

The "Limbo" that Voldemort's soul is in is not because he's stuck between the two. Most of his soul is destroyed, not on the other side. The part we see is the 1/2^8 that actually died. He's stuck there because he physically can't move because he's only 1/256th of a soul. All the soul he has left is beyond the veil. What isn't there anymore can't anchor you to the mortal world. So I think the soul inside would pass to the other side, but that piece would be like the Voldy we see. Maybe he would automatically become a ghost. I do think that he would remain in the mortal world. Maybe he is anchored to wherever the majority of his soul is.

@@MemeMan99 Yes! Apologies for only seeing this now. From what we know about the veil, it has no physical space. It’s merely the passage to death for souls. In book canon, we never know whether Bellatrix used the killing curse or another stunning spell on Sirius Black, but from contextual clues it seems the latter is more likely. Following the stun, Sirius fell backwards into the veil, resulting in his death. We know Sirius is truly dead and not in limbo because Harry is able to recall his soul from the Resurrection Stone before entering the Forbidden Forest in book 7. The reason I’m emphasizing this is because a Horcrux is basically a host item (or body in the case of Nagini, Harry, and potentially Fawkes) for a fragment of one’s soul. Sirius’ soul was still taken from him even though he was alive at the time of falling through the veil (book canon supports this). If Harry were to fall into the veil, I would argue that his soul would be taken, as well as the fragment of Voldemort (and maybe even Dumbledore) that live inside of him, destroying the Horcrux that was Harry.

I don't think so. Nick explains that he was too coward to die properly hence he became ghost. I doubt ghosts would try to to correct their 'last failure'. They no longer can grow mentally.

We assume the soul fragment is destroyed, what if the fragments are waiting in Limbo to be complete again so they can once more be whole and move on to the afterlife? So now we only know 1 way to destroy a soul: being eaten by a dementor. Now the real question becomes wether or not a soul fragment in Limbo and a fragment in the afterlife (i.e. past the veil) can combine again...
