I bought BOTH of these in 82 and still have the Truck! She is a Short bed SR-5 in Creme with the gold stripes and every option but tilt wheel. Lifted4'' and locked with 33's and a Doug Thorley Tri-Y Header. I run a Stockland hi rise camper shell but have the Hungus roll bar with 9'' Dick Cepek lights from 82 as well. She has never failed to get me home and makes me smile every time I climb in after 39 years! Best 10K I ever spent.

"Check out that 4x4!!" Marty was right, these trucks are gems. I've only owned one vehicle my whole life, a '92 Pickup. I wish I had the money to fully restore and upgrade her like this too. And I don't personally like Yellow or Red paint on vehicles, but this truck is still gorgeous! (Ha, three wheelers are hilarious.)

I remember when you could buy one setup like that new from the Toyota dealer. It was later than '82 but they were so popular that the local dealer was selling them off the lot with a lift, bigger tires, a light bar decked out with KC lights and the big tube bumpers. They had them on the lot ready to go or you could choose a stock pickup and have them install whatever accessories you wanted.

I hope someone somewhere has one or two of these in a museum. This was my first truck and I owned 3 of them. Classic, beautiful, rugged, fun, and reliable. I hope a 100 years from now people see one of these and go back to simpler times where driving one of these on the sugar sand at Daytona Beach or in the woods around Gatlinburg or Tellico, TN. is way better than whatever is currently the norm.

I had an 83 also , Imo this generation of the pickups was definitely the best looking overall, although the 85 gets a lot of attention with its😮 extra cab , power windows, more options ,last yr of the solid axle ,I still prefer this body style, On my 83 I didn't like that I couldn't recline my almost new recaro bucket seats I had to where I was comfortable, so after my cousin egged me on about doing it , I cut the rear wall off my cab and added 6" off of another cab I had, it worked perfectly, people would look at it and say hmm there is something diffrent about it , lol , only if you knew what to look for you'd see that behind the doors I had double vents instead of one, I installed a new set of 6" lift leaf springs that i pulled one leaf out of for a softer ride , 3" body lift, 36" tires, 22r with the rv cam, and 5.13 gears, man I miss that truck, Been looking for another one for years, I've looked at a few but being in New England every one I looked at was rotted to the door handles, I'll have to go out west one of these days and find a clean rust free project,
