This oddball street truck comes to us from Ozzie, the man with the 650 WHP Evo, one of the fastest cars Matt's ever driven. Ozzie's 2011 four-cylinder Tacoma features a Rotrex Supercharger, header, and exhaust, as well as a Bilstein sport suspension, upgraded brakes, and street-specific wheel/tire combo.
Check out Ozzie's Evo here!

Yeah, my work truck isn't boring, either. But, it isn't lowered. I like everything else about this. To be fair, this isn't obnoxious, like many. To each their own, I just don't get lowering trucks.

No need to shit on the guy's daily driver umpteen different times, Matt! That's not like you! Personally, I think it's a pretty cool ride! Not everyone can afford to have a Corvette, a MB SL, a Ford Focus RS, and whatever else you've got in your garage. I give this guy much respect for the fact that he drives 130 miles each day to work and back. That's more than I drive in a week. At least you complimented him on how well he took care of it.

Trucks like this are great because they are affordable and functional. You can daily drive this to work and not worry about someone stealing or denting it like a sports car. Throw your surfboard or 30 bags of mulch in the back too. Can even pull light trailers and boats. Had one like this when i was in college and still miss it.

Oz & Matt, so glad to see a Tacoma on the channel! Wait until you see what is coming down the pipe line. Going to be BIG. The V6 1GR-FE makes between 190-200 whp, in factory trim. All aluminum open deck engine. This 2TR-FE of Ozzy, is a closed deck iron short block, from the 3RZ lineage. Just with a newer head. Stout engine. Baby 2JZ. It can handle A LOT more power than the V6, once it has internals. On that note, there are a few 2TR-FE engines either built or being built, to handle some 20 - 30 PSI snail power, right now. One is a drift truck, in SoCal, and the other is a long travel truck from the sunny desert. Drift truck is sick! Swapped in a 240 sx rear suspension.

LS is smaller. Probably woulda fit. A junkyard 5.3 with a junkyard duramax turbo and then buying the legit supporting stuff like the ECU and piping and such would net about 400-500 wheel for around the same price. If he went rear/bed/mid mount with the turbo, it might not even need an intercooler.
@jamescharles7637
@jamescharles7637 7 жыл бұрын
Drunken Hamster Shit a 5.3 with H,C,I and some 11:1 pistons would do that. Still be able to run pump gas with no turbo, piping, tuning involved. Clean and easy.
@Drunken_Hamster
@Drunken_Hamster 7 жыл бұрын
H,C,I on a 5.3 with 11:1 pistons and nothing else aside from tuning for those mods will net 400-500 WHEEL through an auto with 4wd? Or a straight cut sequential with RWD only? What about the power CURVE? The redline? Does that castrate the bottom end? And do you mean premium, or could one run regular/midgrade in that setup?

I feel this guy. His criteria for builds hits me where I live. I mean, I wanna turn my high mileage daily (01’ LS430) into a race car someday when I retire it. I just crave substance from every vehicle I own. Even if others don’t see potential or worth, I do.

It's a 4 cylinder reg cab short bed RWD so it weighs like 2900lbs.. It's a toyota so it won't break, i think this build is actually very cool and makes a lot of sense. Also it's body on frame.. Like any truck and oh ya any Corvette... So it's extremely rigid. This man is intelligent and he knew that the 4 cylinder rwd regular cab short bed would have decent weight distribution for a truck and with the right amount of performance added to that equation it'd transform into the fun RWD toyota vehicle we miss so much. No surprise that some don't get it though, kinda hard to wrap your head around if you're not a car nerd. I'd love to see this build be done to a 1st gen 5 cylinder RWD reg cab short bed manual transmission chevy colorado: Again, very light, body on frame construction, rwd relatively good weight distribution, great power from the 5 cylinder. Loads of potential! Just lower it add tire, add power, add mechanical grip and you've got a fun Ute xD

I'm getting a 2.7 auto in January. I have run 2 test cars with Marvel Mystery oil in the gas 4 OZ's and in the oil . Also switched to severe Amsoil transfluid with Militec 1 in that. I add 1 oz of Militec 1 to my Marvel in the gas. Friction is supposed to be 27% of an engine so these 2 proven friction reducers and the MMO cleaning additives give me added compression which someone tested on a Cavalier on the nest. I havn't been on a Dyno but I can pull away with my 2004 Cavalier and do 7 sec 0-60 now. My MPG has been increased in summer temps at 60 mph 2 -3 hours freeway on cruise for testing. I consistently show over 2 years a gain of 11.4 mpg ....stock when new is 31-32 mpg now 43.4 on long tests. I BELIEVE like Arron Nevile said.....that I can take that 2.7 to 34 mpg and increase the hp and torque on a 0-60 which is slow stock. I will be changing all the fluids to Amsoil and using M1 in trans and rear and motor to start them conditioning. I will use my super formula of Marvel + Militec 1 OZ in each bottle . My mechanic uncle used it for 55 years especially in the arctic for starts.....developed in 1923 and I had an engineer on the net break down the 5 chemicals and one is a friction reducer. WHAT_____do you think ??

Yeah I've been driving a 94 Integra GSR with 8-pound flywheel for over a quarter million miles. It definitely takes practice to drive smoothly, especially with the A/C on because it drags the RPM down super fast when shifting. But it can be done and it's not a huge deal.

I bought a 2010 black Toyota Tacoma access cab with a four-cylinder automatic 2 Wheel Dr. and I love that truck real nice truck and gets good mileage to as far as making it go faster I probably wouldn’t Toyota Tacoma‘s do not have a very great suspension system they’re adequate but you don’t need to go blistering fast over bumps in a Toyota Tacoma you’d probably bounce right off the road

Could of been a money issue when he bought the truck or in my case I wanted a a used Toyota Tundra. However when I started pricing used ones I was finding they were more than brand new ones. I just bought a brand new one, he might of wanted a V6 but they were at such a great price for the 4 cylinder.

The 1st gen Tacoma 4 cylinder engines are pretty stout. I've seen more 2rz/3rz drag trucks than 5vzfe. But this gen's (2nd gen) 2tr has few advantages over the v6 or the 3rz.

That's because like cars, they keep making trucks fatter and fatter. They keep adding pointless shit and adding weight for no reason other than to make the person feel like they got that nice v8 tundra, only you didn't lol. The point of a small truck is to be SMALL. There comes a point where the 4 banger just doesn't have enough torque anymore. Old tacomas weighed close to as much as modern civics. This is where the 4 banger trucks shine. But now the 4 banger truck is dead.
