Supercharged LT4 crate motor swap in my Grandfather’s El Camino!!! (Part 1)

In this video I go over my late Grandfather’s El Camino and go over the GM 6.2L Supercharged LT4 crate motor and other parts I ordered for the car. Then me and my brother pull the old motor.

The LT's use a PWM fan. If you can't find one, Dakota Digital makes a fan controller that along with the BIM will control the fan or fans. I'm using 2 SPAL fans on my LT/L83 swap in my 37 Chev PU.. It will bring the fans on one at a time and also will shut them off at your desired cruising speed.

Dewitts has a good spal controller that uses the special temp sending unit and nothing else! I have on my C6 it works well.

I did a Tremec / LS Swap in my Elco too… A company called Three Pedals makes a clean clutch direct fit Clutch Pedal

Man I wish I knew about that company earlier! I ended up doing a universal Willwood clutch pedal, master cylinder and had to make a custom bracket. I’m still not sure if I’m 100% happy with it.

I think maybe electric vacuum pump is needed too for power brakes and such because LT4 doesn’t produce enough engine vacuum

The LT4 has a vacuum port on the intake/throttle body. In the manual the LT4 comes with it says that port is specifically for power brakes. I have a vacuum line ran from that port to the factory brake booster and the brakes work just fine with no issues.

I want to put this LT 4 engine in my 1956 chevy 3100 truck did you do anything to the chassis sonit can handle the power also where you located at i will help if need im retired military so i get bored and depressing staying at home

Quick question - Would the LT4 engine fit in, without a hood scoop? Not a fan of the scoop.

Yes, it would clear with a stock hood.

I’m not sure what the specs are off the top of my head. I know they are 15” Keystone wheels but I’m not sure what size BF Goodrich tires they are… I’ll take a look next time I’m at the shop!

When my grandfather was alive I was in no position financially to take on a project like this. Not to mention my grandpa probably would have shit himself if he saw me tear apart his car like we did haha This is really my first time doing something like this so my grandfather more than likely would not have trusted me and I can’t say I would blame him. I don’t think anyone realizes how important people are until they are gone and it’s to late. Then all you can do is something in their memory.
