He couldn't possibly have built a boat any lighter. I built my first hydroplane at 15 years old in 1963 and another at 34 years old in 1982. The first one had a 16HP Mercury out board and the second one had a 35HPJohnson outboard. To think he even designed and built the ductwork for the impeller jet drive is impressive. i self-taught myself a lot about woodworking I carried with me throughout my life and I am now 76 years old. You brought back many memories for me. Today I would build one with a watercooled motorcycle engine.

You are correct , although burocracy and bs would not allow it to be used , probably even try and stop it from being built, licensed, and soon the thought police will impound our creativity to the point where many will not function . It's so damn sad that the countries that we have been lied to for most of our lives as being backward, suppressive and tyrannical are infact the the ones that are not only far more liberal, free and healthier than anything that we experience. Our for fathers died in vain for a system based on lies. Cheers

I'm guessing the fueling wasn't up to snuff because there was never a point when throttle was wide open, you couldn't open the throttle past maybe 25% because it most likely leans out terribly bad, prolly be much faster if the fueling was right and had some way to measure A/F ratio and def a boost gauge too. With the pump outlet leaking like that too, could pick up alot more power and fun just refining it, the last 10% is always the hardest on any project. Still very cool, lets get a part 2 with the kinks worked out!

Yup, looks like it definitely needs more fuel. I'm thinking, though, it may develop too much velocity through the venturi which may result in over fueling. Time for a bigger carb and a tune either way. Or maybe, just maybe dual carbs. Whatever is easiest from what he has laying around. I bet he was just excited to get it in the water and drive around. I know I would have been. He sure seems up to the task of finishing and I hope to see how this develops.

Pretty sweet build. That boat moves pretty good. For no More than you did with the engine. I build those vanuard engines for pulling tractors. And you can achieve some really big horse power numbers for the size of the engine.. I have a video of one of my early builds with a super charger. On KZbin. Supercharged vanguard v twin with eaton m24 supercharger.. . Your boat would really Ripp.with some more extensive engine modds.

How much horsepower does a supercharger add to these V twins? I’m guessing it makes a 18 hp about 25-30 hp, is that close? I want to try it on my son’s go kart.
@joshb69932 ай бұрын
How many more rpm can those engines handle stock? Was he getting close?
@eddieshirely14622 ай бұрын
The horse power it will make. It all depends on how much you do with engine build. You can really go all out. Butt They can get expensive tho. I do allot of experimental projects. Like supercharger and turbos. And achive some pretty healthy big power. Butt. There's a place.called carrier performance. Specialises in mower raceing and whatever you need your engine tweakwd out for. . Check them out. They have some bad to the bone products. . They have builds that support 80hp. No blower or turbos. Just naturally aspirated. And They wull rev 9000 Plus. But the hi reving and power curve depends on how the cam is designed. And head flow. There's lotts of differnt cam grind. Can't just throw a big cam in a stock engine. And expect it to be a monster. Lol
@eddieshirely14622 ай бұрын
@@joshb6993 keep it under 4000 and you should be ok. it will do more butt. The valve springs can't keep up to much past that. And it starts floating the valves. And that can go south in a hurry. And you will end up with a trashed engine. I would highly recommend billit connecting rods. If you plsn to rev it ti far part thr factory governd speed. Yes stock rods will take Some extrs. Buttt it gets risky. Dont need a rod cutting loose and trashing stuff
