I wouldn't say that the racing was better then than it is now, but for me these were the golden years of dirtbike racing just because of how I perceived this stuff when I was younger. I had a Yamaha pw80 and all I could thing about was getting that kx60 because a 2-stroke without a kickstand was like the epitome of a racing dirtbike to me! lol But man, I gotta say after riding the 250f the technology and capabilities of these bikes are pretty rad
@3acharyy879 жыл бұрын
Yeah when I did get the kx60 i took that kickstand right off.. but we rode more trials than tracks so it was less convenient. I've ridden the rm125 and rm-z250 back to back for comparison. I hated that the 2strokers are about dead in mx and sx racing, but I can see why. The rm125 was fun and felt "flickable" and i had to work the clutch more to keep the power in the sweet spot. The power of the rmz250 was just always there tho, super smooth and really stable* esp. coming out of turns. I felt less confident jumping the heavier feeling 4 stroke at first, but once you get used to it..you twist the throttle and she hops right over the doubles!
@telefunkenyou476 жыл бұрын
Yep, taking the kickstand off my 1980 CR80R and finding a good milk crate was a big deal. It was crucial for fantasy garage racing on school nights before bed. I even put a linen sheet over it for that "Wah Lah!" effect. Miss you, Dad.

No it wasn't
@carlstanton25504 жыл бұрын
It really wasn't, hence why it was allowed in the 125 class. The 250f nowadays would be a bit quicker, due to them being lighter, and the fact they now rev more like a 2 stroke. But the early 250f was heavy, slightly sluggish, and the power rolled on smooth, whereas the 125 2 stroke had explosive power.
