If anyone is wondering why they decided to go with an unmonitized battle pass the devs said it was to resolve an issue when it came to releasing new content. Basically before most new cosmetics were put in the in-game store. This caused a situation where new players had to choose between weapon upgrades and cosmetics and old players could just get everything instantly. With the battle pass system new players can get some cosmetics without sacrificing upgrades and old players now have to work for the new stuff. Also slight correction; no class is "squishier" than any other. They all have the same amount of health.

@@Vysair I was simply talking about how much damage the classes *take* not how much they *do*. of course scout have the grapple hook so they can avoid a lot of damage by zipping away and driller has good crowd control so they can kill a lot of bugs before they get to them. But in regards to the amount of health and shield each class has it's the same for all of them (there are armor and health upgrades that give you more but those upgrades are the same for each class). Great summary video! Only thing I will say is that no dwarf is "squishy or tanky" in the traditional class sense, they all have the same health pools. Just in case ppl might get confused that Gunner can take more hits than Scout, when in reality they just have different means of avoiding damage. (Scout fly away, Gunners dome shield, etc). There's fun to be had in learning how to avoid that damage and dance around the battlefield as each class. Learning "pancake parkour" as Engi is very satisfying for example haha

Hopping from warframe to drg was one hell of a hit of whiplash for me. I mean sure, it was free, but I could never get any good cosmetics and the grind was unreasonably long, basically locking me out of having the fun I want. Then I go to drg where I can buy all of my cosmetics and there's far less of a grind to get what I want. I understand the rpg mechanics was what made warframe the game it was, but it sucked getting new toys only to realize the extent of the grind I would need to pursue with my incredibly weak weapons to get them to the same spot I'm already at. Drg was so much easier, with a pretty reasonable grind for upgrades. Warframe felt more like I had to have a specialized build for everything, but drg was a bit more flexible as it relied more on applying the comparatively smaller pool of loudout combos to different situations. I bring I dread killer engi around surprisingly often because while I am much weaker without huge cc, I rely more on my skills at kiting and using the pierce mod for my loki.
@comet.x Жыл бұрын
I had the same experience! With warframe I did get far enough to have a 'god build' (no idea how it holds up today) and get cosmetics with plat trading, but it feels with deep rock i got new toys way faster! and the new toys are actually new! not just particle emitter #67

As someone who has been playing DRG for a total playtime of 20 hours, with hopefully much more on the way if life doesn't get in the way of it, Engineer is probably going to be my favorite class to play. I'm already close to promoting my Engineer (rn at rank 21 at the time of writing this comment) And have barely touched any other class other than the gunner in the tutorial level. There is something so satisfying about throwing out a Shredder grenade, setting up a turret, then befriending a glyphid named Steeve, and watching them all go to town on a crowd of glyphids, while I stay back and take potshots at the horde with my grenade launcher. Truly the summoner class of DRG.

FOR BEGINNERS WHO WANT TO PLAY WITH RANDOMS: most of the chillest people are the ones with the silliest server description (I usually set it to something like "Ever seen a glyphid in a bikini? Now's your chance!" and have gotten some of the funniest people, but ofc also some tryhards). I do NOT recommend joining the e-Sport-esque servers (the ones with the "At least one promoted...", "serious or get kicked...", "Lvl100 + blablabla...", etc.), as they are usually the people, who I feel aren't really getting the game -> As said by superdude, despite the first couple of missions are very stressful, it's usually a very chill game!

also for anyone concerned about the cosmetic DLC, let me say that its in the steam store, so you can pay with steam wallet or real money and don't have to buy a premium currency. They go on sale during steam sales and the older ones go on a pretty cheap sale. Also the price is waaaay better than anything in any other live service game. where most games want to charge you $15-20 for a single skin, maaaybe with some recolors, the DRG ones are packs that come with at least 4 skins (one for each class) and a recolor that can be used on all skins, and all other recolors can be used on the new skin. they also come with some variety of a mining pick set, a skin for each gun, a skin for bosco (the drone that helps you when you are solo) and a recolor for the guns. All of that usually costs around $5-6 full price, and again they go on sale.
