It's the game making the noise you would make seeing this game for the first time so that you don't have to feel bad about climaxing by seeing the glorious title screen for The Ring: Terror's Realm.

I just skimmed through the previous episodes to make sure I didn't miss any plot points. It was Chris (white woman, blonde, dressed in yellow) who introduced Meg to the chief. Kathy, in all her business-cybergoth glory, is apparently a brand new character, who for some reason is disgusted that the only security guard at the CDC takes his job very seriously.

This game is a treasure. I love bad survival horror games, and this one's right up there.

The sad part is that the office music is not even that bad, it's just completely misused. It feels like they accidentally swapped the track used for the office with one that was supposed to be used for a 20 second action sequence, which would also explain why it's just a short loop repeating over and over. Maybe later in the game there's going to be a part where Sadako chases the player to the tune of relaxing Jazz music.
