@@RADCOMJ1 Yeah. Box office is just ridiculous. It discourages people from watching movies and is responsible for beautiful movies being left in the dark and not expanded on. The only thing they have ever been right about is Velma being terrible and it is still getting season 2 so box office is stupid.

Dark Phoenix starring Sophie Turner 😂😂😂😂. Possibly the worst American accent ever attempted on screen, Sophie couldn’t act to save her life. Her acting in front of green screens are the ultimate in cringe. Her performance was a career ender.

I believe an issue with hero movie sequels is that a significant element of what drove a character's popularity is their original villains. A hero concept with crappy villains never makes it off the ground, while new villains for long beloved heroes rarely stack up to pre-existing ones in the minds of most audience members.

Dark Phoenix "failed" because Marvel Studios interfered the original script for Dark Phoenix had Skrull as the villain, an explosive battle in space between Jean/Phoenix and the Skrull armada and another battle outside an US Government building Marvel Studios decided to steal these plot points and use them for their Ms Marvel film, then demanding Fox to completely rewrite the film, thus making the general audience believe that Dark Phoenix is a "bad film" all of this is true - there are set photos confirming this aswell as comments from producers and cast
@leodouskyron5671
@leodouskyron5671 Жыл бұрын
I completely disagree and still want to see a link or title for your claim (I LOVE hearing behind the scenes stuff). Lets be honest about the real issues as Marvel is very very little of the problem here. *The Director and script issues* The reasons the movie failed were NOTHING to do with anyone else but the movie. The plot was one that had been done before and poorly. The director was the one that wrote the XMen 3 (made money and it was very not good to those that knew the story) and this was his first time directing because he wanted to make it up to the franchise. To say he failed even with his GOOD intentions is not debatable. *Poor acting* The acting was far from good with Fastbeender was phoneing it in for the same starting plot with Magneto and the cringe dialog was noted by everyone I knew and I you are going to ignore the Jennifer Lawrence hated the role and the makeup and just about everything to do with it then you are missing the obvious. (She almost seems to say "Oh no I am dying at the end) *Difficult story line* And that is not all. The film was also working with a story that is as a stand alone almost impossible to get right because it needs a multi-story build up to the tragic end and a single story can't do it. And the is made worst by elements of the storyline already been expended in previous movies and thus not accessible to help in the ramp up here. And worst of all, one of the main elements of the story is we have to believe that there is a loving family here in the X-men and that need comes across. In some ways the character of Jean Gray has to be realistically seen as both loved and under powered. And neither were really set up so that when she goes big it really dumps. Also, the used of her power turned off by Professor X did not do good things in the comics and in the first attempt at this story and they should have re-imangined the themes better then they did. *Legal issues* This is the only place where Marvel studios has a minor hand. The Marvel Universe film rights are a mind field and to get what you want 2 studios had to get together using lawyers and rich Studio execs to deal with making money with greed in the way. That said, Hulk made it into films, They worked out spiderman and did not wipe our Spiderverse. It cane done but SONY (see FANT4Stic) was always difficult to work with and so you have two greedy companies at work annoying each other but here is the catch - the aliens the this movie needed was *the Shi'ar Star Empire* . Sony put the Skulls in to mess with marvel but the story does not use them. The Star Empire comes to avenge the destroyed world and that means an Alien invasion that is closer to End Game and legally they could do it if they actually followed the story and SONY didn't want to do that they wanted to stick it to the mouse. This was a bad movie that had little hope of being a good one. That is no one's individual fault. Sony was able to get other good movies out before it and this one should have just been shelved.

I enjoyed Dark Phoenix What I like the most about the X-Men movies is the fact that they never tried to follow the MCU's formula or its tropes, especially after it became a trend They never relied on nostalgia, the tone always kept consistent, and they always focused on the present And Dark Phoenix kept that way They kept their sense of individuality. Even the score was different in each movie Plus, I found Simon Kinberg's direction pretty solid He was able to give the movie an identity of its own, rather than trying to replicate Bryan Singer's direction Unlike Brett Ratner tried to do in The Last Stand

I wasnt happy with how they killed off Mystique and why was her colouring suddenly paler all of a sudden? That's never explained. X men movies have always divided fans, these two weren't any different for that.

The Spirit failure was by far the most astounding of these. Miller knew Eisner personally, and had done several long interviews with him. He failed with The Spirit on almost every level. The Spirit -- particularly the post-WWII issues, were unquestionable graphic masterpieces, literally decades before their time. They were filled with things for both kids and adults, invented, perfected, and/or utilized almost every single visual and storytelling trope used in comics (I recommend one hunt down the 80s Kitchen Sink reprints of these, which usually had a page or two of commentary about the context, lost to time for most of us, and/or noting key techniques used in a given issue that were only rediscovered decades later, such as the 9-panel page.) One of the most key failures was the choice to use The Octopus as the main villain, but to then cast Samuel Jackson in the part. Jackson is awesome, don't get me wrong, BUT you don't cast someone like that and never have them appear in person. The key aspect of The Octopus was that you literally NEVER EVER saw The Octopus in ANY issue -- all you generally saw was the iconic glove. At best, you might see a shadow figure, but you never ever ever actually saw The Octopus... but Jackson appears as TO almost immediately. It's flabbergasting that Miller did such a wretched job of bringing any aspect of The Spirit to the screen, given the intense graphic aspects of the character. He SHOULD have understood how to present the character far far better. And it did, pretty much, destroy any chance he had as a director, his efforts were so horrifically bad.

Dark Phoenix, many reasons why it flopped. Two big reasons were because with all the main character deaths and the ending they originally filmed being really similar to Avengers. And right as they were trying to decide what to do to change the ending, Fox had started negotiating with Disney/Marvel for the XMen rights. So everyone in the production phoned in their contributions to the film. Not defending WW1984 but it's release has a home release during the pandemic on Christmas day. So that could be a reason it under performed. Like if a group of friends wanted to see it in the theaters(if you could at that time) they all buy a ticket each. So say 5 friends at $20 a ticket is 100, even 2 at 20 is 40 then now that same group of 5 or 2 now are watching it for 14.99 in their living room or wherever. But again I watched it that once and haven't watched it since

Christopher Reeves only agreed to do Superman 4 because he was told he would have more creative control which he did but like you said the original budget was slashed considerably also part of the deal was he would have done another movie for the the cannon group that brought the rights to Superman and that movie was street-smart which was another box office failure on the plus side we got to see Morgan Freeman give a incredible performance I remember the movie was touted as Chris Reeves comeback film but everyone was talkin about Morgan Freeman

Loved Suicide Squad that really should have been a hit. Shazam was my big disappointment. I had a lot of goodwill towards that movie after my family and I really enjoyed the first film. It was a total turdfest from start to finish. The kids were all mostly adults now and yet for some reason when in superhero mode they behaved like nine-year-olds. It just made no sense. Once Covid screwed the schedule up they should have abandoned the family and done a solo film with Shazam acting with at least the same level of maturity as Peter Parker who is actually younger than Bill Batson.

For better or for worse I'll always prefer the X-Men over the MCU Because even the bad movies have something good to offer Something better than the MCU

The Suicide Squad flop because of a costume, image problem. NO one complain about the looks of a few of the members ? The dot guy, even a clown suit looks better. His outfit is chaotic and loud. His power was great. The rat lady has a rat problem. No one complains of the rats ? They would be more appealing if white instead of the gray.

Blankman really shouldn't be on the list. It was more of a spoof movie like most of the Waynes family movies
