Ty I've lost my strong singing potential and have been searching for a vocal coach This pandemic has truly made it hard and unaffordable. Everything you said reminded me of my highschool teacher, who was a vocal coach also. I tried everything you said and it all worked out. I'll continue to watch your videos. I appreciate you, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I have to say that I was to a point where I wanted to give up singing because I just didn't have the direction and understanding to become better and learn how to overcome my problem areas. You have helped me so much!!! My voice starts in such a low register for a female that most female teachers aren't in my range. Which has been incredibly frustrating. You have given me hope!

I've been working on learning to sing for a while now but, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to relax my jaw. I tend to carry a lot of tension in my shoulders and neck, and I subconsciously clench my teeth pretty much all the time. This probably has to do with my ADHD and anxiety, but it's been that way my whole life to such a degree that I'm not sure my jaw muscles even can relax and be loose. I mean, I can open my mouth, talk, sing (or, y'know, "sing" bc I'm just learning), etc. but when someone tells me to relax my jaw muscles, my mouth settles into a closed, teeth-together position. Even when I'm sleeping, I have a tendency to grind my teeth rather than having my jaw muscles fully relax and my mouth hang open (or whatever it's supposed to do). Even doing the exercises you suggested here -- grabbing my jaw and shaking it and shaking my head rapidly to let my hopefully relaxed jaw bobble around -- resulted in no relaxation or movement of my jaw. It just looked like me actively holding my mouth open in a fixed position while I nodded vigorously. I can make my lower jaw LOOK like it's bobbling around by using my jaw muscles to open and close my mouth rapidly, but it's not loose or bobbling on its own; I'm faking it. End result is, whenever I want to open my mouth wide to talk loudly or sing (or just to open it), I'm actually putting effort in, using my muscles to make my mouth open rather than settling into its default, "relaxed" position of being closed. So, I guess that's my question: How does a person combat decades' worth of not being inherently slack-jawed? Because, man, so far, I can't find that "relaxed jaw" thing that every vocal coach in the world talks about.
