I don’t think I can stand the rain is that musically interesting except for the different instrumentations they‘ve chosen. I’m not saying that the song isn’t good, because I love this song so so much. Thank you for pointing out that Lucas’ voice was pretty much front and center during the chorus! I realized that after a couple listens and with a lot of fans being upset that Lucas didn’t get many individual lines, it reassured me that he played an very important role in giving the song the overall color that it has. His heavy vocals are no joke and without them, the chorus wouldn’t hit as hard, I think. Also yes, I had the same issue with the chorus. I heard the Avengers chords and thought “lol okay that’s cheap, effective tho”, and assumed it was the prechorus, but realized later it was just the chorus outright. I look forward to seeing your album reaction!

I personally really like SuperM's Jopping and most ppl I know do too. The line distribution is ok and the song is not predictable so I don't get sick of it fast like I do with other songs. We also got some typically EXO, NCT, Shinee parts which fans may be able to recognize for example Baekhyun's high notes that is a must for EXO(for example in Eldorado)

I really love the song. Honestly, I never thought people would be so "shocked" about the chorus. Sure it's not what we hear from K-pop normally, with the verse 1-verse2(sometimes)-pre chorus(build up)-powerful chorus structure. There is no big drop (or at least not the common one) and I really like that. They used the guitar as a transition for most part and it was really nice (and I think the guitar, if we completely anticipate the song could lead people to think there is a drop coming and therefore the chorus when it's actually the transition between the chorus and the verse, a really clever move). I really liked how the bridge was so SHINee sounding too. I really can see the EXO, SHINee and NCT colours in this track and it's so interesting to me as a fan of all these groups.

idk i feel like the last chorus is the climax : it's the only time in the song where the chorus is sung two times and with adlibs + baekyun's crazy high note which makes it more epic than the previous times the chorus was one, it's like a firework to me, it ends the song perfectly and kind of justifies the whole structure of the song.

@@Empyrean.127 I agree with you, the whole song started off on a high so a drop wouldn't be able to top that. I didn't even notice the chorus felt like a build up, the song felt complete. Having a heavy drop to round off a song is so prevalent in music now that we just expect every song to have the same formula. Jopping stands out in a way where every part of the song feels like one, you cant distinguish where the verses/prechoruses are. SM did an amazing job and this song banged

I love songs like Jopping that mess up typical formatting. You expect a drop or something, but it's more like the entire song just builds as it goes so the final chorus is the most epic version of the previous ones, while the guitar has acted as both transition and outro. The overall method of building up reminds me of Zimzalabim. Also, I feel like people maybe are even more thrown off by the chorus being the chorus because it's kind of in half time? Idk, but I really liked the song.
