I remember Terence Stamp talking about one of the more subtle ways he wanted to show Zod regarding everyone he met as being completely beneath him, was to have him deliberately not quite look them directly in the face, he does it a few times with different characters & it's brilliant. Strange thing is, he played mostly good guys. His debut was as Billy Bud which established him as a pretty boy actor. He definitely aged out of that by the time he was Zod. I think he would have been a great Thufir Hawat in Dune. Although I do like Stephen McKinley Henderson. Of course, if Stamp had been Thufir, Villanueve probably would have still cut him him out of Dune 2.

Even though Terence was in the first Superman film for only a few minutes, he shone in it, especially for the defiant speech he gives Marlon Brando: *"You will bow down before me! First you, and then one day, your heirs!"* So, technically, that was his comeback film. But *"Superman II"* was his full on comeback. Gave gravitas to a character that was nothing like the version in the DC Comics. Terence Stamp made that character better.

Terence has said he was at an ashram for several years prior to filming this, where he and all other attendees were required to be "present" and aware at all times, and that he just used that awareness and present-ness in playing Zod. He didn't worry about making him evil, or anything like that. If you look at some of his scenes, you can kind of sense that and see that.
