This is who Superman was always meant to be. Not just some god-like alien from a doomed planet, but a boy from Kansas who put on a suit and cape. A hero who chose to be our friend and protect the world he loves and calls home. That is Superman.

Perfectly stated. Bad writers get so fixated on the 'Super' part of his name, they forget the 'Man'. The thing about Superman is that, of all the DC Trinity, he's the most human, despite being an alien. Ultimately, he's not a tortured rich kid or royalty from a magical island. He's a simple farm boy from Kansas. And too many writers don't understand that.

Exacty! I love how in this version of the origin the focus is on Clark dealing with the consenqueces of leaving Smallville to train with Jor El, seeing how it causes lose time he could have spend with his mom and his friends in Smallville. His coming to Metropolis is Clark's new beginning, with him not only finding one way to be close to people by helping them as Superman but also developing new friendships and find new love in Lois Lane. This whole drama helps highlight Clark as more human and relatable character compare to previous versions, where the story is just Clark dealing with prejuice and having to earn people's trust.

Tyler Hoechlin plays Superman perfectly. He is so far the best Superman we’ve gotten, and it’s nice that the writers care about showing who Clark is at his core, opposed to just wanting stuff that looks cool. The writers should get a raise for the good work they’ve done.

It's basically the same plot as Man of Steel, Done with so much more heart and respect to the source material. Another Kryptonian shows up and tries to use a DNA archive to bring back his people. In MoS they could have simply gone to the moon and Superman would have helped them. In this show they have to hurt humans to do it, which actually puts Supes in conflict with the villain.

"Thanks! My mom made it for me!" Those were, as far as we know, the literal first lines spoken by Superman in public. It tells you everything you need to know about the dude. He's sweet, he's a dork, but he also loves for his family, and he's completely unafraid in being just sincere and warm and nice to total strangers. You will note, none of that describes his powers. And that's the trick to Superman. It is the MAN that makes him Super.

The suit he's wearing is based on the Fleischer cartoons from the 1940s (available for viewing on KZbin). The crest/insignia is different from the Kingdom Come version (which Brandon Routh rocked in the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover).

@hbinitials7 Snyder verse is a flop garbage on its own. The 2 minutes of Whedons superman has more personality than anything in Snyders garbage Injustice superman. Thank goodness this garbage Snyder verse is gone is for good. James gunn can finally give us the real superman

This just goes to show that the CW can still have good shows and writing.

This shows that they put all resources into Superman and said screw all the other shows, other than Stargirl, which is where CW quality truly began to change. I actually hate Superman as a character. I would like to see other characters in good quality. Same with Marvel. Bored of seeing Spiderman, Wolverine, Ironman, and the usual characters repeatedly.

I like how my boy Superman didn’t even check on the people in the car just to have a moment with a boy that was completely ok. Just flew off 😂

He probably had them x-rayed and heard their hearts beating before even grabbing the car.

I don’t know what it is about this scene. But it makes me a little teary eyed when he catches the car and the music plays

I was skeptical too as I am a Cavil fan but oh my, Tyler did more than a perfect job as Superman and he's the ideal portrayal of the Superman

something I didn't noticed at first but the shot with Superman and the car, his cape is CG. It's reflection is missing from the ground and there's some scaling and distorting effect as he gets up. At 0:48 (one of the frames) you can even see a masking issue with his left hand over the cape. Just a minor nitpick in an otherwise amazing scene :p

The phone booth suggests a time period in the past before cell phones. I know they lasted for awhile after , but they stopped making them for sure around 1994. So this must be a in-between time period. After cell phones , but before all the booths where taken down from the eighties.

Only problem is this Superman here was born in 1981, this part of the episode i assumed took place in the early 2000s but you probably have better judgment than me... I'm only 18😂

@@casonallen4800 wouldn't say judgement just time differential . Read al ghul has experienced more then Batman but Batman has better judgement.

I guarantee you public phone booths were being produced long after 1994. The majority of people with cellphones in 1994 were either wealthy, provided with one by their job, or simply posers.

Yo, a friendly humble Superman that saves people then smiles and calls a little boy "Friend", ending with a dorky "Thanks ! My Mom made it for me." These are the small things that makes him the Superman everyone knows.

This is why Superman is my favorite Superhero, because he’s someone with enough power to do whatever he wants yet he always puts others before himself, I know there’s a saying that “absolute power corrupts absolutely!” But Clark Kent’s powers don’t corrupt him, if anything they free him of corruption, he’s the very definition of a hero and that’s why he’s my favorite!
