Im pretty sure tower of terror ii was the first roller-coaster to reach the 100 mile barrier a month earlier then this ride making it was the worlds first fastest and tallest roller coasters in the world.

if only they had kept these original trains and restraints. the updated trains and over the shoulder restraints killed the awesome floater airtime you’d get as shown in this video 😢 the ride is also rumored to be closing for good soon, who knows though. either way, it was a groundbreaking attraction that changed the game and had a great run.

This coaster has always been overrated in my opinion. I remember being terrified as a kid in line for my first ride on this. And that was the most intense part. I remember getting off it and thinking "that's it?". Even now with it launching backwards (which is a dramatic improvement), it still leaves something to be desired.

Having gone to Magic Mountain for over 20 years, I thought this coaster was overrated. Back when it was the "hottest" coaster in America ( right before CP dropped Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster), I was underwhelmed by this ride, thinking it was the definition of "gimmicky" and "One trick pony". Nowadays, nobody gives a shit about this coaster, so it's ironically become underrated as a result.

I mean, this program out in 2002. It was still pretty new and groundbreaking at the time. Of course in retrospect, it's nothing special, and probably the weakest of the 100+ MPH coasters. But at the time, this was a pretty revolutionary ride.
