You think you could do a video on adding oil to the rack ? Like what to isolate and how to purge the air out of the hoses
@tonyu4699
@tonyu4699 2 жыл бұрын
What I do is pump oil until there is no air left and full column of oil out of your hoses tighten it slightly on the oil rotor lock and pump a bit more oil out. Tighten the hose all the way and pump oil in the reservoir

Hook your discharge line from your recovery unit up to your manifold then let the pressure build in your isolated filter then when the pressure gets to about 250 psi to 300 Crack a valve and it'll push all the oil out of your filter. Do it several times. Then when you've done that switch hoses around and recover residual gas hopefully this makes sense.

Excellent work as always, I personally don't like to break the flare nuts loose if I don't have to so what I do is unbolt the cap then loosen the band and drop the shell but there is more than 1 way to skin a cat.

Great vid as always,anyway concerning the sightglass on that rack where its paralleled in by the 1/4"" connections (not full line size) as in this case was told its only purpose was mainly for as a moisture indicator being its not full line size and you should only rely on liquid level receiver indicator

Appreciate it Gendron, this was super informative and to the point! (like usual) -Would it be possible to shut the inlet of the oil filter and have the system pull out whats inside like a regular pumpdown. (or would it only pull down and equalize with whatever that pressure is?) - Thanks for the tip on clearing the gauge lines at the end, I was wondering how you would get that oil out!
@gendronhvac-r1269
@gendronhvac-r1269 2 жыл бұрын
You could do that. That's a great idea. But it would only pull it down to suction pressure. But that's still good. It would probably go from like 60 PSI to like 50 in this case. But the real benefit would be that some oil would flow into the compressors and you would have less oil that you would have to deal with. But you would eventually have to recover it out of it that you couldn't get it down to zero. Great idea thanks for the comment.

Hey, you know those oil level control floats on Copeland's? What's the best tool to get to those pesky 7/16 bolts? I've been just using my gear wrench open end and flipping it. I wonder if they make super thin wall closed ends. Maybe a crows foot?

Min 13:30 - cleaning the oil out of your gauges: Ok... After disconnect the Red line, you've got some remaining Liquid in the Red hose, which is boiling off, and then you re-open the Blue hose, and the boiling off liquid makes a "final force" down the Blue hose into the suction side of the system. Have I got that right?
@gendronhvac-r1269
@gendronhvac-r1269 2 жыл бұрын
Yes :) But it's just more that one side is a higher pressure than the other side. High pressure goes to low pressure

Hi Gendron, I have a question here. I know the the oil level on oil level controller usually should between 1/8 and half, what if it is full, will it cause any problem? Should i pump out some oil from the compressor and let it remain at half?
@gendronhvac-r1269
@gendronhvac-r1269 Жыл бұрын
It could be any of the following 1) compressor might not be running.if this is the case it will fill up with oil. 2) someone could have messed with the regular. 3) could be flood back 4) it was never set right. If you're concerned and you think there's a problem. You can pump out the oil Down to half a sight glass. Make sure the compressor runs Check that the oil regulator is set to the proper level.( Read the manual. ) Then check for flood back. Hope that helps :)

At the very beginning of the video the sightglass was flashing. Doesn’t that mean that it’s low on refrigerant?
@gendronhvac-r1269
@gendronhvac-r1269 Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, If the receiver is full then it could just be a low load condition.

Sir Curious is the rack operational when you replace oil filter at that unit
@gendronhvac-r1269
@gendronhvac-r1269 Жыл бұрын
It kind of is, So the compressors can hold around a gallon of oil apiece. So when I turn off that oil line There's usually like a 10 minute window before compressories start going off on oil failure. So typically you start and the rack is fully operational four approximately 10-20 minutes. Usually if it takes you about an hour then Every compressor will be turned off by oil failure. It's not a big deal Typically you have About a 2 hour window after shutting down the rack Before Food spoiling Occurs and that is Customer driven so It will vary by customer. So you finish up the filter then you stage the compressors back on. Usually not a big deal I hope that helps
@hg2.
@hg2. 2 жыл бұрын
Min 5:30 That's where you've valved-off inlet and outlet. Are the compressors running while the oil line is "blocked"? How long would you guess the system would run before the whole system shuts down on low oil pressure?
@gendronhvac-r1269
@gendronhvac-r1269 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I leave It running there are safety that will stop any damage. And anyware from 30min to 2 hours depending on the rack. But it really would not be much trouble to shut of the rack for a hour.
@hg2.
@hg2. 2 жыл бұрын

@gendronhvac-r1269
