I have been in the HVACR trade for 35 years now, and I wish this was available when I was coming up. I often send your videos to the apprentices to help them get a better overall idea of what we are dealing with. On the job training along with the schooling in the apprenticeship is great, the videos make it that much better.

Just to add to the oil and low charge troubleshooting...check if you have air heat reclaim. Make sure three way valve and check valve are working. Ive seen many racks go down because liquid and oil is logged in the air reclaim coil(s).

Gotta love the empty oil jugs up on the roof when you walk up to a rack with multiple compressors off on oil.

I’m 27 currently working at a factory job making 19.72 a hour. I took a long hard look at my life and realized I wanted more in my life. I’m strongly thinking of going not only into HVAC but HVAC/R. Is there anyway in get to a apprenticeship for commercial or industrial? I know lot of people starting out go into apprenticeship with residential, but I’m more interested in grocery store refrigeration systems. Just started watching your videos today and so far I’m loving them, any advice would be fantastic. I’m also getting ready study for the 608 Certification.

I'm not sure I knew a guy. But this Is what I would do If you can get your EPA certification. And if you can do schooling it will be a big help. Most places have a unhealthy fixation on those things. Just applied everywere you can and take what you can. There is alot of HVACR places that do take Apprentices. But if it does not work out. Just be a residential tec for a year then try again. Just keep building your resume until you get the job you want. School EPA CERTIFICATION job experience. Also NET WORK while your in school you will find leads !! Good luck and God bless. I hope it works out for you !

Thank you for this training. Is it okay to have a gauge on each compressor suction and discharge line to monitor their operations?

Looking to break into supermarket refrigeration. I came to HVAC later in life, im 40, have been a resi tech and installer for two years. Somethinghing of a standout at my company. No rack experience but have watched all your videos, listened to every Advanced Refrigeration podcast etc. I know i could excel at it with some training, should i just approach a company and try to apprentice or go to school?

It depends on what you want really, I got into my supermarket refrigeration gig with no school and no experience. I did well. The thing I will say about the schooling is. It depends on your state. So if you need schooling to get a license or if your state needs a license, it might be worth looking into the schooling. Now, you might want to debate on. If your current job has somewhat of a consistent lifestyle, it might be easier to take schooling now. Because a supermarket refrigeration tech typically doesn't have a superconsistent lifestyle. But I would say that if you are listening to the advanced refrigeration podcast and can follow what they're saying. You'll probably do fine. So as far as would school help your Skill . It would but you would probably do okay at your current level. I learn much more from brian ore At the h v a c school, then I did an actual h v a c school. ( I eventually took schooling while working) In my state you need schooling to get a License Also typically for my experience most companies are begging for supermarket tecs. If you have hvac experienc They will probably Value that over schooling. Now they might try to pay you less if you don't have schooling. Especially if that will result in you not being able to get a license. These are just some things to consider. Good luck!

@@gendronhvac-r1269 Man, thank you, thank you, thank you for your response. Im in Georgia, do not need school for my license. I'm going to start applying to some supermarket companies and see what they say. I have confidence in my ability to quickly learn once I have access to the equipment to get hands on experience with it. I just don't want to be lowballed on pay because of lack of experience or not having a license. I have already approached my current boss about helping me get my license, he's supportive, and offered to buy me the study books. Going to take him up on the offer. But Im also sending resumes to four or five companies right now. I really really enjoy the trade, and I really like to be challenged and learn. So I'm excited to see what's out there. Hope you and your family had a great holiday. Thanks again for your time and response.

Yeah that sounds like an odd set up. I would check to see if the refrigerant is feeding to the medium temp that's not working. I'm guessing that it has an e p r I would check the e p r or the solinoid. But it's hard to tell it was not being there

@@gendronhvac-r1269 thank you very much. I have a opportunity to get on with a large supermarket chain coming up. I have been doing hvac for about 2 years and have always gravitated to the service side. Honest question, since I’m so new is it a good thing to just go ahead and get in to refrigeration or should I get some more service experience under my belt ? I’m really enjoying the channel so far

Did you say your racks typically have 50lbs? The store i work at have atleast 200lbs on the protocols

It depends on the store. But I would see this smallest would be 200 pounds. I think I said 450lbs. I think that would be more of the average that I saw. I did work on one 1400lbs That one was huge. It was cool
