Little art history tidbit: the painting in the beginning depicts a man who discovered his wife was having an affair, this piece is a part of a series about the theme of “fallen women”, talking about how if a woman was unfaithful her life was basically over, but men could have plenty of mistresses w/o really facing any consequences. Don’t know how this relates to the game, but there ya go. The series is titled “Past and Present” by Augustus Egg.

Yessss!! Under the painting of Adam and Eve, ‘The Fall’, is the woman’s portrait. The other painting is ‘Abandoned’, depicting a shipwreck and the man’s portrait is underneath of it. you seem very interested in this, so in case you don’t already know, the Pre-Raphaelite era has a lot of this ‘fallen women’ work, so I’d research that 😊 also research Ford Maddox Brown bc he was an artist at this time but he depicted women in a much more respectful way, polar opposite to these other artists. I played the sequel to this game peaking on about 3 grams of mushrooms. It was one of the coolest and most immersive experiences I've ever had. The game was trippy enough on it's own, but actually tripping, it was profound. Layers of Fear 2 is now my favorite horror game of all time. Highly recommend if you feel comfortable with that kind of stuff. this one would be pretty damn cool tripping too
