You see they won't let you make your own sprites or audio because it would invite catastrophic results for them and hurt their pretty spotless image when it comes to trusting kids with their games. Edit: Additionally the point of Mario kart is racing with mario characters so it wouldn't make much sense unless it's just accessories or something. Including a track builder however don't sound impossible.

Matt, you can't turn because you're both playing on the same keyboard, some keyboards have anti ghosting features that prevents this from happening, basically pressing some keys together make other keys not register. With anti ghosting keyboards you can basically press all the keys of your keyboard and they all register.
