Actually, there is one game that addresses the power in the chaos emeralds, being Sonic Adventure 1. The final boss, Perfect Chaos, absorbs all the negative power from the chaos emeralds leaving them as empty shells. Sonic then uses them as a conduit for positive energy to become Super Sonic. Still doesn't cry when Robotnik's ship explodes, though, so non-canon.

and also for not native speakers. I am a mexican living in mexico who has a high-level proficency (and I have the crediantials to prove that) but even then, there are times when they speak to fast or use words that are to complicated to understand to those not using the language in their daily lifes. So, I really appreciate that they do this.
