Don't apologize for loving Mary. Everyone forgets too quickly that Sam got himself addicted to demon blood BY TRUSTING SOMEONE HE KNEW HE SHOULDN'T, that Cas broke Sam's wall and let the Leviathans out and caused the angels to fall BY TRUSTING SOMEONE HE KNEW HE SHOULDN'T, and Dean got himself the Mark of Cain and became a demon and was ready to kill Sam BY TRUSTING SOMEONE HE KNEW HE SHOULDN'T. Sam deals with his pain by running away, Dean deals with him pain by drinking, and Cas deals with his pain by punishing himself. Yet when Mary deals with her pain by getting some distance and makes bad choices for the right reasons by trusting someone she knows she shouldn't the way all THREE of her boys have, she gets made a scapegoat, and unfortunately, the only difference I see between the fans' hatred for her and their love and forgiveness for the boys' mistakes is that so far is not fitting into the angelic-motherly-perfect archetype that people expected her to be for her sons, which is a subtle and all-too-insidious form of internalized misogyny. The boys are free to make their mistakes and will be forgiven, but the woman who's supposed to be the perfect mother RIGHT AWAY, after being yanked away from her babies and husband heaven and thrust into a world where her boys are suddenly grown, scarred men who were raised by her now dead husband to the life she never wanted them to have, is bashed and demonized for not being the perfect, angelic woman. Screw the archetypes, Mary, you are awesome and just need a little help to get back on track!

Actually wow have you missed the whole point of the anger of probably 90% of the fandom. It NOT the fact that she is trusting the BMOL. It is what Dean stated at the beginning of this episode. She stated she needed space. That space was FROM HER BOYS. Dean understood that. Mary has yet to try and get to know her boys. To try and have anykind of relationship with them. Mother or otherwise. She has coldly blocked them out of her life. That is what 90% of the fandom is pissed about.

+Odothuigon Sam definitely would do what he has to for greater good. And he did want a normal life for him and Dean too. I guess I just was not impressed by BMOL, to me Sam saved the day so it's interesting they had Sam join. It definitely has a big impact by Mary and Sam wanting to help her even though he was also hurt by her. Lol I hope I made sense

I guess I see that, it's just with this season I feel we have seen a confidence and a comfort from Sam, Dean, and Cas (in terms of their place in the world) that Sam making the decision to work with them felt out of place for me.

And I could see Sam doing it I thought it would happen since episode one of this season because well the writers made him work with lucifer so. Just assumed the BMOL too. I love mary as well. I'm really happy she's on the show. I felt like she was always apart of the show but never really apart of it so i'm really glad she's here now. My favorite part of the episode was when she gave that slight mention of Bobby Singer which says so much in so little. Just from that exchange of words she was essentially filled in with an entire history with Bobby, she probably never even knew was there.

But what happens once the Brits go for the demons? Are the boys gonna let them kill Crowley? And what happens once they go for the angels? I have a bit of a feeling that in their view of the world anything supernatural may be a monster. I'm not confident that they'll leave the angels alone. After all, isn't Lucifer an angel too? Maybe that's where the line will be in the end: Cas.

MichiruEll I had the same thought. Though angels don't prey on humans (except for the Grigori, but they're almost extinct), they're still powerful supernatural beings and once attempted to destroy earth (though the majority of angels didn't know that). And once they start hunting down angels, I bet Cas will attempt to fight the Brits and the Winchesters will help.
