Sam is such a little brother in this episode. He makes Dean nauseous while eating and then not listens his older brother, goes after the murderer and gets kidnapped 😩 That eye scene still makes me scream 😰

What I like about Bela's character is she brings a different perspective to this world. She's not a "monster" or one of the "good guys" or a "hunter. The only other non-monster antagonists have either been hunters that thought they were doing the right thing by "hunting" Sam or law enforcement. It is refreshing to see more sides to the Supernatural Universe than Sam and Dean knew existed.

the human vs monster thing gets pretty interesting and they go into it more later on, which I think is really cool! also the only kinds of gore I can't handle are wacky eyeball stuff, bugs crawling inside people, and fingernails being ripped off. can't look at any of those without feeling awful

I like her balance with both brothers. It's actually nice to see a reactor to have empathy for both boys you know to have a real balance because a lot of reactors can't do that no matter how they say they like both and that can make the experience very annoying.

@@spiritofloveipi4804 dean is shown to have no empathy most of the time so when they try to force moments of heart its like oil and water, it doesn't mix. its not believable. i have more empathy for the ''monsters'' then him because most everything that he has condemned them for is something he has done or would do. hes a jerk who basically just enjoys killing, which is actually worse then most monsters he kills. i can't take it serious when he whined about wanting more in life. if he cared about saving lives he could have any number of jobs like a firefighter police or emt, but he has a compulsion to kill like a serial killer.

I love that you recognized Major Lorne! I'm a huge Stargate fan myself (I've seen every Stargate episode and movie ever made). I am hoping the rumors of them possibly starting up the franchise again with a new series comes to fruition. I hear MGM is just holding back until this possible deal with Amazon is done, so here's hoping. Also, your comments on this... you have no idea what's to come and I can't wait. Oh, an additional fun fact since you're clearly a Stargate fan - Supernatural is filmed at the same studio (Bridge Studios in British Columbia, Canada). Every now and again, if you see some scenery that looks familiar, it may have been in an episode of Stargate (I've spotted several over the years).

As for this episode, it always reminds me that SPN in early seasons prided itself in pushing the ick factor. They wanted to see what they could get away with and...it's something. I think this is the second squickiest episode for me.

I remember they decapitated her, but she was immortal, so... yeah, that's quite the punishment. Also, SPN is pretty much one brother always trying to save the other, plus some other great major arcs.

Kevan Smith/Major Lorne plays a different role later on that is much better. Supernatural likes to recycle actors. Although I kind of like Bela's character because she's so snarky, she is a terrible person. Yeah her childhood was way messed up and she made a bad decision with the whole demon thing, but she really went all in on just being horrible to everyone and not caring how it affected other people.

I think this one is my least favorite episode of the first 13 years of Supernatural (I saw the last two seasons just once, so I am not sure about the rewatchable factor of those episodes yet). 1- The MotW makes me kind of nauseous; 2 - I don't like the abruptness of the unfolding of Bella's story; 3 - She wanted to straight-up kill both brothers! This episode is almost a chore to watch, even in snippets in a reaction.

I’m sorry, but I HAVE been in Bella’s shoes. And the same age. I did not kill my step father. There are better ways to handle the situation. I reported my step dad to authorities and it was handled appropriately. Luckily he got counseling and we’ve made our peace, Did Intrust him w/my daughter or any other young female? Hell no. Besides, we don’t know Bella’s mother’s involvement. Did she know? Turn a blind eye? Complicit? IMO Bella created her own Hell, and she deserved what she got.
