This episode is the episode that changed my life as someone in a wheelchair I could feel everything that Bobby was saying in this episode in my soul and the fact that I got to meet his actor last October is just the cherry on top of this wonderful show he was an example of this fandom at it’s finest he was so sweet and he changed my life and I was able to thank him for that I can’t speak for everyone in the disabled community but in my opinion Bobby is still the best representation the disabled community ever got or at least I ever got.

If you want a wheelchair representation you should try Mom the sitcom if you haven’t watched it already. Granted the person who is disabled doesn’t appear until around season 3.

Another representation. Barbara Gordon. Or Franklin from Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The ending with the girl giving up her years was so sad. You could see see guy wasn't a monster he truly cared. He also cared about Sam when he was going all in saying "there is poker and then there's suicide". I bet you he even let some of the old guys he liked win.

This is such an underrated episode imo. All of the guest stars were wonderful here and the moments between Bobby and Dean are excellent as well. Watching Bobby feeling so depressed is heartbreaking, but like Dean said Bobby is needed and is family. I'm glad he was there to remind Bobby of that in the end.

I loved seeing Chad Everett as Dean in this episode. He was a big star in the seventies with “MEDICAL CENTER “ and he guest starred in so many shows.

I love this episode! Chad Everett was inspired casting as Old Dean. He absolutely nailed it.

Absolutely SAM would have played many a hand of poker at Stamford to earn some walking-around money. He had to rely on himself alone. I bet he was a shark among those well-educated happy-family kids.

I've met the actor who plays Patrick. He's lovely! Said he had a blast doing the show and that everyone was amazing!

I really like when Supernatural plays with grey characters. It’s easy to do an archetypal comedy villain but harder to do a baddie which is a mix of good elements with their bad elements. And I really like Patrick for this. What he is doing isn’t right but the show still gives him character and insight that make him more complicated and I love that. Plus this episode is great for all the things you mentioned like Bobby, and old Dean, and Sam bluffing, and Feelings! 🤗 great fun to watch. Really enjoyed your reaction! Cheers 👍🏻😄

This episode really highlights that old question. “Is immortality a blessing or a curse?” In this case it was a curse. Enough of a curse to not only give it up, but save others in the process.

Wow... I love what you're wearing - you're positively GLOWING!! Yes, this was a very memorable episode. Old Dean was hilarious! This episode also explored the terrible pain, frustration, anguish that Bobby felt being confined to a wheelchair, no longer able to fight the big fight, feeling useless.

Never seen you double flip off a antagonist before. I say antagonist because the "he witch" wasnt evil, he's a dealmaker and a gambler. He and the "good witch" are one of my favorite duos. Tragic characters are always great at tugging at the heartstrings
@xXSinForLifeXx2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree he wasn't a total monster just a gambler who's really good. He didn't want to kill people and even probably let the old guys win who become young.

For some reason I never appreciated Old Dean's performance until right now. He really has Dean's mannerisms and line delivery down.

The only emotion that was acceptable in the Winchester household while the brothers were growing up was anger, or so it seems. Sam could probably apply to Bobby's childhood home.

Old Dean and all senior citizens can eat cheeseburgers. They just need to supplement with digestive enzymes and Betaine HCl. Hopefully Bobby finds the book with that info in it someday.

Why haven't you Reacted to Arcane yet ? It is currently hype so you would hopefully get more new viewers and your whole "Analizing the Characters" you do would be really at home with a Series like that. But i have to disagree with you on Sam being good at hiding his emotions. Think back of the getting the Colt / Killing Vampires episode: The first time the boys worked with their Father for like... 10 years, and it didn't took an hour until Sam & John where once again screaming at one another ^^

Kind of, no, REALLY disappointed with this episode. It's a filler episode, it's the Apocalypse and they give us a filler episode. Worse, it follows this disgustingly painful trope I once read about how badly films/shows represent people with disabilities as these angry pathetic people desperate to get their lives back. It mentioned Locke from Lost as the main story but this episode of Supernatural would qualify. The guy contemplated suicide when he got back from the hospital and felt like a coward for not doing it? I'm not disabled but one day I know I'm going to grow old and lose something about my life that could make me dependent or incapable but that is no excuse to forsake living. I do like that Dean hammered that point in the end to Bobby but if anything it just reveals how Bobby is pathetic and selfish. Worse, it encourages Dean to want to say yes to Michael. That terrible trope aside I got to admit it was great seeing Chad Everett play an older version of Dean, I've seen this guy do a few shows here and there, heck I once saw him make out with Naomi Watts in Mulholland Drive. I wonder if he and Jensen talked for a bit to understand the character on screen while they read the script as he tried to capture some of his quirks. Sad that that man is now dead, but his performances live on. Love the final game, I liked how for once Sam used his emotions against Patrick instead of just simply losing it. There truly is magic when it comes to filming a card game, almost like a non-violent joust. Not a bad episode in the scheme of things. There is some bad storytelling but some great acting in it.
@rtozier20112 жыл бұрын
The show wouldn't work as well without filler episodes. It's two brothers travelling America and hunting monsters - if every episode was part of an arc, it wouldn't have the same feel of relentless grind of the mission that affects the brothers so much. Locke wasn't messed up and angry because he was disabled, it was because of what someone did to him. Bobby is messed up because he's a hunter. His messed up attitude to suicide stems from that.
@shamidkpzd2 жыл бұрын
I mean, Bobby very recently became disabled in that point in the series, during a violent altercation very suddenly. I imagine it would take a while of adjustment and that of course there’d be anger and sadness. I don’t think that’s pathetic. I will say that in general representation for those with disabilities isn’t great.
@kimberlywilmoth9184 Жыл бұрын
There's a comment in this very thread from someone who is disabled and they are extremely thankful and say great things about this episode and how it represents the disabled community. I mean, I didn't agree with you either, but I'm not disabled.
@kimberlywilmoth9184 Жыл бұрын
Oh, and one other thing. Of course they give us filler episodes! They're otherwise known as "monster of the week" episodes. Eric Kripke has even said that each season has around 6-8 episodes that are heavily plot driven, while the rest are case by case episodes. That's the whole system of this show...and it's perfect.
