I cannot understand why someone would consider Dean hypocritical in this situation. I mean, its clearly stated that Sam must not remember whats behind the wall Death put in. Even if what Sam did during that year isn't necessarily traumatizing, there's no reason to risk breaking the wall.

People tend to criticize Dean more harshly than most character on Supernatural, they don't really try to understand him they judge him before they even understand his motives.

This isn't the best of episodes this season, but I still really enjoyed it just because we had the "real" Sam back. And that bro-hug was everything that the first one this season was missing. Just... the pure emotion coming from Sam, and the way he made a bee-line right to Dean, because you could just see that he thought he'd NEVER see him again, and somehow he's gotten this second chance, and he just hugs him SO tight... Also, you could tell that Dean was happy, not just because his REAL brother was back, but because it's like, he hadn't liked it when their roles had been kind of reversed. Call him a creature of habit, but they spent probably most of their lives in that established dynamic, and it seemed to me like it had been really stressful on Dean that, on top of everything else going on, he realized HE had to be the "moral compass". He was like, practically giddy over the fact that Sam was back to his old self, and complaining about things like stealing dead girls' diaries. I'm also glad that when Sam did find out, he didn't confront Dean with it right away. I know, it was a bit of "keeping secrets" there, but I can also see it as him wanting Dean to be able to stay focused on the job until it was done, and not be distracted with something else. Plus, it also probably gave Sam time to really think it over and decide how he really felt about it all, instead of just giving Dean a knee-jerk reaction. (Because, they had the whole trip from Portland, Oregon (my hometown! Yey!) back to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for him to further mull it over. And even with Dean's driving, that isn't generally a one-day trip.) And when Sam DID confront Dean about it, he was like, gentle about. And he started off with letting Dean know that he understood WHY he'd hidden it from him, but now they needed to deal with it. Also.... ALL HAIL SAM! THE DRAGON-SLAYER!!!!

Cass responded to Sam’s prayer because Sam now has a soul which resonates so Cass can hear him again... just my take.

Cass could always hear him. Back when Dean asked why he didn't answer Sam's prayers, he said : "I didn't come because I have nothing to offer. I don't know who or what brought you back"

darth ken81 ‘fraud it falls into the “nice theory but totally wrong” category. First, as someone else pointed out, Cas tells Dean he heard Sam but didn’t respond because he had nothing to say, and second, we actually saw him answer Sam’s prayer a couple of episodes ago when Sam claimed they had the ark of the covenant.

what Dean did wasn't hypocritical!in the year with Lisa,Dean by knowing that Sam is alive,wasn't gonna die or remember some awful thing!in here Dean got warn from Death himself that the wall inside Sam's head is vulnerable and could break!he didn't want that wall to break!and yeah it's every normal man's action to tell their little brother"you were soulless and you let me get turn by a vampire!you tried to kill Bobby and hided from me for an entire year!"is this really easy words to say?especially considering Death's warnings?while Dean wouldn't die by knowing Sam is alive in beginning of S6

I'm glad this popped up when it did. I am happy Sam is back, but I did enjoy Souless!Sam so much. Sam was very clever tricking Cass into tell him what happened. All of them lying to each other was very frustrating, I felt you on that. It is very awkward for Bobby and Dean though with all the things they experienced. It's going to be interesting going forward. Poor Matt Barns.🤭 I always laugh and feel bad about it. That awkward moment, though, when you're mimicking Mother of All's delivery and it's actually my fave. 😳 Thanks as always!

Funny, I didn’t find the ‘Sam getting his soul back’ thing disappointing. We finally got the bro hug we’d so wanted at the beginning of the season, the return of puppy dog Sam, and also the return of Sam’s more intuitive side (in catching on that Dean was hiding something from him - as soulless!Sam his instincts were very poor). They didn’t over egg it. And of course, it’s not going to be the last we hear of it (not a spoiler, I know you’ve already seen another episode or two) I still don’t really know why Sam refused to hug Cas. They were on good terms at the end of season 5, weren’t they? They’ve never been as close as Dean and Cas, but not distant enough that Sam wouldn’t accept a hug when offered. Does anyone have an explanation?

dajtoad1 I think the reason was that in season 4 and 5 Cas didn’t treat Sam greatly. He called Sam an abomination, the boy with the demon blood and this must have hit sam pretty hard because sam used to pray to angels and look up to them.

dajtoad1 I admit in season 5 Cas was more supportive but even then they weren’t the greatest of friends. Maybe it’s because they didn’t really have time to get to know each other because it was kinda the apocalypse and the only reason they were working together was to stop lucifer and Michael ?

It could've been that he felt awkward about it. Or, it could be that they hadn't known each other long and the last thing he remembered of Cas was feeling Lucifer kill him (but then he hugged Bobby, but that could be because of how long they've known him) *or* it could be that even though he doesn't remember Hell, there's that familiar feeling of Angel Grace and it unconsciously makes him uncomfortable because he was in Hell with 2 Archangels. I mean, when he came to the Skinwalker page he had the de ja vu, could've been similar with the Grace, just without him really realising it... :)

Why in the world would there be a scene wherein Bobby says " Like my daddy used to say " Just because it kills your liver doesn't mean it ain't medicine"??!!". Why on earth would Bobby quote his father when it's made plainly evident that he despises his father, and rightly so, because his father was an alcoholic who emotionally, psychologically, verbally, and physically abused Bobby's mother and Bobby himself when he was a child?!?! That makes no sense. It definitely doesn't fit with the rest of the mentions of his father and his father's impacts and effects on his life. Such as when it's made clear that Bobby never had children of his own, thereby breaking his wife's heart, for fear that he'd continue the cycle of abuse. Given these facts, why would Bobby ever quote his father, especially regarding the use of alcohol?!?!

They retconned Bobby's father in season 7. It's obvious what Bobby was on good terms with his father based on what he said about "just because it kills your liver doesn't mean it's medicine" because if he wasn't and his father was an angry drunk who beat Bobby's mother and who Bobby ended up killing, Bobby wouldn't ever have quoted him.

Looks to me like you've skipped an episode. That's alright just keep in mind the next you upload will be ep14 not ep13, although i'm sure you're already aware ahah. I know these episodes and seasons on are a bit heavy to go through... for me though, i binged it and i didn't analyse as much as you do w the reactions soooo i guess it flew a little under the radar for me. Season 8, 10 - 11, 13 - 14 are great! Episode 15 of this season is also one of the craziest episodes of any show you'll watch most likely.

What?? She just forgot that Crowley was killed a couple of episodes ago.. she just had a baby and was working on 2-3 hours of sleep when she watched that episode.. she also said at the end of that episode that she didn’t believe Crowley was truly dead because he is always 1 step ahead of everyone and just couldn’t see him going out that way or that soon.. I think it was a mixture of “baby brain” and no sleep that made her slip up by saying that she thought he might be the one to tell him..
