This episode is so epic and introduces so many important layers to the mythology. Chuck is amazing, and special shout out to Castiel who is able to help the brothers on the sly there.

I love this episode! I think I say that a lot. But I mean it. Zachariah is just a regular angel. A meta episode is one that makes fun of or references itself. Chuck writing books about Sam & Dean in a show about Sam & Dean make it a meta-episode. There is a Sesame Street book with the same name. It's about Grover reading a book that's telling you not to turn the pages because there is a monster at the end of the book but he does anyways & the monster is himself. If you think about it, there is a similarity.

Castiel told Dean that Sam was headed down a dark path, Pamela told Sam that what he was doing with Ruby was not good intentions, now Chuck tells Sam that sucking blood was wrong. Red flags all over the place, but no one seems to see it - esp Sam. Cas said he was considering disobedience, but I think it’s hard for him to do it directly. I love how he gets around that conundrum. I don’t like how Sam willingly gives up Dean’s life w/o even asking him first. Chuck is GREAT (except in ‘Lucifer’ LOLOL)

In this series, there are only four Archangels: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Lucifer... all of the other angels featured in the show are lower in rank. and, unfortunately, there is no way to answer your pinned question without risking massive spoilers, particularly with regard to character motives... This is always a great ep to rewatch, especially with all of the hints and straight up announcements (which become clearer later) that occur in the episode.
