Dr Ingrid Visser is so worthy of her title - a true fountain of knowledge about the amazing world of orcas. I love to hear her speak as she has such a lovely way of connecting with her audience. Love from 🇬🇧

She really has a gift to be able to keep the crowd engaged and actually interested with all of the technical issues occurring throughout the presentation. The girl has the gift of gab backed by facts and research, and experiments, and more research to find more facts about other people's experiments where they were able to recreate and therefore prove facts that she stores in her mind machine gun and just fired away anytime there's a pause in the sound waves around her.

Love Doctor Ingrid! I've always loved killer whales and always wanted to be a marine Biologist. My dream is to go kayaking with the killer whales soon. I would love some day to meet her. I really hope soon that all the whales and Dolphins will either be freed or something better than what is going on now.

I really feel for the trainers who loved these animals and they rose up to save them. It is such a shame that China, Russia and other countries are now building up these shows and aquariums as they are winding down in the West.

I find it oddly hilarious that one or The SeaWorld people said their fins bend as they get older. even if %25 wild orcas have collapsed fins it is absolutely not age.
@EquineMetalhead7 ай бұрын
It’s due to gravity. Since the orcas are in shallow tanks, the gravity pulls their dorsal fins down. But of course, they can collapse because of being sick. Edit: Wild orcas only have collapsed fins because they’re sick or malnourished.

Does an Orca need to be in warm or cold waters to help it thrive ? And does not or cold water effect the dorsal fin ?
@delphinidaeinfo4 жыл бұрын
Orcas live and travel through oceans all around the world. There are tropical populations, arctic/Antarctic populations, and everything in between. Certain groups stick to certain areas and may have physiological adaptations for that temperature. Overwhelmingly though, orcas are found in cold waters. There's no indication that water temperature alone impacts their dorsal fin.

Their fin bone is made up of something called collagen-like what we have in our nose and ears sort of. But in heat, it breaks down permanently So the heat makes it soft and even if they were introduced back into ocean water it would harden in that position. If %25 percent wold the orcas had collapsed dorsal fins that means you should/ would likely see I with a collapsed dorsal fin every two pods in the wild. The orcas in the wild who have damaged fins have reasoning generally. The ones with no/ little fin probably got hit by a boat. Honestly seen wild orcas is so much more magical. I have only ever seen common dolphins in the wild they follow me and my dad's boat when we're fishing. I am going on Wednesday and there were some Orcas spotted not to far away yesterday so I have my hopes up :D

Sadly they have new facilities in China and Japan (Russia, I don't know if it is SW): tiny tanks, a pilotwhale was able to jump over the glass of the tank. Young girls IN the water with these young orca's doing these crazy, dangerous high spins and so in. It is a tragedy waiting to happen!! John H was right when he wrote he fear's that SW will move to other countrie's!! And the poor cross and inbred orca's in the US and in Europe: they could make a new business model. SW can afford to buy a seaBAY with human care for these animals and could take the visitor's out with boat's to see how these amazing animals are doing in their natural habitat. I bet they wou!d make more money than they do now. I am NO expert but I don't believe these crossbred not socialized orca's can be let out in the ocean but they would have a much better life and SW could make money. But sadly they are to narrow minded to change anything!! It is a shame. Yes PLEASE NEVER BUY A TICKET!! And I want to raise awareness about dolphin's, beluga whales and all marine mammal's in captivity!!

Seaworld has it's facts rigged. I like hearing both sides but no one learns shit from Seaworld. They're not educational, no way. The new Orca Encounter is boring. I watched snip bits of it on KZbin. It doesn't cover about them at all and it's something you would tell a five year old.
