HOLY SHIT. Your comment about the tips not sealing properly just changed my opinion of the IE300s by a absolutely huge amount. They were so off sounding and sibilant to me this whole time. Swapped tips and boom. What the hell. I can't believe that was why this whole time. They felt sealed!
@Spin3l3ssJ3lly Жыл бұрын
Ok, so ...yeah. In my experience there's a bass richness that is pleasant, not a lot of punch but certainly a full-bodied sound. Lower mids are slightly muddy to my ears, but that impacts mostly spoken language, podcasts, youtube videos etc; music sounds generally good all across that part of the spectrum. There's a slight hint of sibilance in the higher mids, maybe that (in combination with the lack of definition) is what Mark refers to as "swishiness". Treble is tame but is there, not the most incisive but still clear and extended. Technically, the only things that stands out to me are imaging and soundstage, the first because is certainly better that what you find in the budget segment of the market and the second because ...I can hear it! (being generally insensitive to soundstage in headphones and iems it's a nice surprise). Detail is no better than what you find in the sub-100$ segment of the market, but not worse either. Generally a decent IEM, if it were priced similarly to, say, the Hexa we would have much to talk about but at double the price it's not really competitive. And yes, change tips, the foam tips provided will do the job but impact negatively the sense of clarity and detail.

With your explanation I think JVC FDX1 (FD01 on Drop) is a better option. It has rotatable metal shells, excellent cable, 3 different nozzles, superb clarity, decent soundstage and a cheaper price tag (129$).

Love these with the Dunu S&S tips Gizaudio suggested. I'm sorry to say, it looks like I'm the only guy who has very mixed feelings about the Hexa. They just seem unexciting to me, and lacking in bass. Well, different strokes for different folks. :)

I was playing around with EQ yesterday using Squiglink Auto EQ and frankly, i can easily see why so many people adore the IE200 and 600. I know this isn't like 1:1 comparison but the way these 2 are tuned, no surprise it appeals to so many people. Frankly, i prefer the tuning of these two over everything else Crinacle has graphed and may even pull the trigger on the 200's since there is a local deal for 70$. If they sound even 90% of what just testing the tuning with Auto EQ is, thats a W. It has clearer vocals and bass boost without being obnoxious.

The IE200 are my favorite IEM, not because of sound quality (they sound good enough, and I can't fully pay attetion to the sound while walking / working anyway) but because of the excellent comfort and design. The look clean and professional, and the comfort is simly unmatched. They are just a perfect pair of earphones to use at work and on the go and that's why I bought them.

Use dunu s&s tips with them for a bass boost, sounds exactly like the ie600, as they use the same exact driver, only difference is the metal composite and the ie200 having a hole on the nozzle to bleed the base, cover that hole and it's a ie600

I already have IE600 and as hailed by some reviewers was tempted to have a cheaper version of IE600 for travels and daily use. I almost stopped myself while pre-ordering IE200, looks like I made the right decision as these don't seem to live up to the hype. My issue with some reviewers is the unnecessary hype they create without testing them properly, pushing gullible consumers to pre-order/buy. That's why I appreciate Super* Review, it's late as compared to others but always a comprehensive and dependable one. No BS, just straight, objective and honest opinions.

I think the previous success of IE600 is why the IE200 got a lot of hype, and for most people 600 is a steep price so most would prefer a cheaper price tag and again why the IE200 got a lot of hype. Just finished boxing these up, and I agree with your take on them. There are definitely strengths here, but the little downsides add up and I don't really feel like compromising at this price. The highs are swishy, the bass is nice and rich but doesn't have enough definition to the hits. In the end I feel like the Hexa does a lot of the same things just better and it's $80; feels more premium too, the IE200 feels like cheap plastic and the terrible cable doesn't help things.

And when compared to the Letshouer s12 PRO? I saw someone saying that the Sennheiser is noticeably better in terms of sound quality and tuning. But when I listened to the demonstration of these two models here on KZbin, I didn't notice that much of a difference. At least I didn't notice any big differences using good headphones (but that could be the compressed audio and KZbin). The IE200 just seems to have more controlled treble and a slightly higher sub-bass. But like I said. You can't be 100% sure by listening to demos here on KZbin. I'm very undecided between the two. All my headphones are from Sennheiser, I like the brand. But I know which one to choose: IE200 or s12 PRO.

This iem needs a proper mod to sound really good. I covered this stupid hole on the nozzle with a tape and changed the tips to the Azlas Sednaearfits. I noticed that they also need more power than the Xelento or the u12t so i cut the plastic rings around mmcx connectors to be able to use some third party balanced cable. My AK sp1k now can power them properly from balanced out at around 110-115/150. The u12t need around 88-92/150 and the Xelentos even less.
