LG G5 front facing camera just destroyed S7 in everyway, S7 looked like it's been shot with beauty mode all the time, really soft details. LG G5 auto focus is insane, despite not having a fancy dual-pixel, S7 could barely hold it's ground. and wide-lens was stunning, simply stunning. S7 was a little bit better in low-light, yes it had less noise, but details were also gone away due to aggresive noise reduction. i can't believe you didn't mention the ugly oversharpening on S7, especially in low-light. it's definitely G5 for me.

1st of all G5 may not the fastest to focus but it takes great pict. s7 is faster on focusing. Lg use infrared to focus. it is short focus it will not effective as dual pixel on s7. but g5 have wide angle and more detail in daylight due to 16mp camera.

+alexis nunez LG is king of manual controls from the LG G4, S7 still has better manual controls than the S6, but not as good as the LG camera.. and even if that was the case LG would win for more Megapixels and more details manually, setting iso/wb/shutter speed on the same way in both phones producing the same image quality.

G5 - sound, front video, rear video, front camera, rear camera* S7 - autofocus, rear camera (low light) *rear camera quality is very similar but colour reproduction I think is better on the G5 and, with that wide angle lens, it gets my vote!

Both are excellent. S7 is awesome for group selfies, faster autofocus, and better low light images. G5 is awesome for better colors, more detailed selfies, better mic, and wide angle lens is really a great addition. It's in the end a personal preference.

Hi Saf, serious question so I hope you can help out. Can we do a quick draw photo test with these phones? Allow me to explain - imagine a test where three or more us are in a shopping mall with one of the main phones in a our trouser pocket. We have a third person standing on a floor above with a bouncy ball so we can't see it drop but we can see it bounce. First one to retrieve phone and snap a decent photo wins and we can check who' s best by number of bounces missed and quality of photo. What do you think?

How can you pick the S7 on the tree picture? It's WAAAAAY over exposed. You can barely see the green. It's not about which is brighter... It's about which retains the quality and the G5 definitely won that one

+SuperSaf TV Very nice comparison and fair to have them both at auto. In most cases though, after a shot is taken, people would use some post-processing software (lightroom / instagram) to improve the quality of the photo. Have you tried to use the lightroom app on the LG G5 low light shots to see if the noise can be reduced. I would really like to know if that can improve the picture quality. Also were the images taken in raw mode or simple JPEG? (is that capability even there in both phones?)

G5 has 30 seconds long exposure , S7 just 10. G5 has wide angle lens, S7 doesn't. G5 has better front facing camera. S7 has better rear main camera. The G5 kinda pulled an ace there with the wide angle.. not sure what to do. I'm also not fond of the curved S7 screen.

No its not. If you're looking to upgrade for the camera and you're more than a point and shoot casual shooter, G5 is the way to go. S7 is more of a competitor to the G4 (and the G4 still captures more detail and has 3 times longer shutter speed). But sure , I agree that the S7 kills any other phone right now with low light on Auto and the focus speed. If it had removable battery and IR it would be a tough choice for me.

+charles exhavier I picked the G5 after playing with both because the camera quality is better, you can exchange the battery if you're traveling and it also has that grip module which came free with the pre order which adds more battery and it's a lot easier to snap shots! Oh, and you can add more storage. 32GB is nothing nowadays - I can fill that up with an hour of shooting in RAW! Not to mention that I took side by side shots, and expect in low light, the G5 constantly got better details, better light representation. But the S7E was faster to shoot, had better low light (even though the colors weren't as well represented, you got more detail in darkness). G5 won for me :)

Nah G5 destroyed S7. G5 wide angle lense is sweet....S7 doesn't have that option. You can only use all 12 megapixels on the S7 when in 4:3 rather than 16:9. I prefer using manual mode anyway so again G5 is the winner. G5 takes more realistic pictures, don't like the over saturated photos on S7. I also prefer audio quality on G5....S7 is too muffled for my liking. I also like the removable battery in the G5. I purchased my G5 from my local EE store for just £385.00 and the Samsung S7 was selling for £615.00. No way is the S7 worth that much more than G5? Just paying for a fancy name...for me the G5 is a sweet deal and the clear winner.

I think the design is great. Feels like a nice solid phone. Replacing the battery takes seconds. I purchased the phone without a contract, just using PAYG. I'm not a heavy data user and mainly use my phone for taking pictures and making a few phone calls.

+ted fico the guy in your local store sounds like a shark. He obviously wants you on contract for the commission fee. You can sign up for a payg simm online. EE will also unlock the phone for a small fee. For the money I paid this is a great phone. Especially love the camera and the processor is lightening fast.

No way. S7 produce better low light shots and even in daylight it shoots overall sharper photos with more natural colors. G5 is better in the selfie shoots, thats about it. Also, i don't like the wide angle sensor of it because it produces less quality pictures because of the wider angle. I'm not G5 has a bad camera, not at all, but overall it is second best. Btw, i don't have either phones, i got note 5 but i'm not a fan of brands, i'm a fan of products, what my eyes see.

+Amir Amran a little more surgical approach is required for coming to a conclusion , given that saf did'nt compare some real close macro shots ,HDR shots and scenarios that challenge color reproduction, LG appears to win in these respects by quite a margin with the shots that i have seen and collectively such photos are more common than lowlight ones , but it comes down to preference.

+Amir Amran yes, the lowlight on the S7 is better. but looking at that daylight photo, that blurring image on the g5 was better and so the image quality. the things that disturbing me is the vid on the g5. but the front facer, and the audio quality is better on the g5. anyway the g5 got removable battery, FM radio, IR blaster. the S7 (edge) just got the better design.

Hi Supersaf! I recently bought the S7 and I'm absolutely amazed with its photos!! coming from a Z3, the s7 is absolutely great! I was waiting For the G5 also, the idea of a dual camera seems to me great but I'd prefer normal wide angle (I mean 27-28mm For example, like every smartphone) and the other one a 50mm or 80mm. That would be great and with a big apperture would end the attempts of fake software bokeh that never works properly. Thanks For your great videos!
