It's funny how tech reviewers still complain about fingerprint scanner placement. I'm glad I only use ONE phone 📱, it's muscle memory and your finger will automatically hit the right spot. And I have a Note 8. If your using multiple phones every other month like most tech reviews and then it will be a problem. The avg person won't have that problem.

I have an XZ2 and their centered fingerprint scanner makes some sense. it's easier to find in a pocket or on a desk IMO. if you're coming from a phone with it higher up, you'll get use to the placement. it's really no big deal. that being said, I liked it better when Sony had it on the side, built-in to the power button. :)

The XZ3 has bigger bezels Simply because of the front facing speakers, and I find this setup better for media consumption, which is one of the Sony strengths. Also, the Sony sensors are bigger than the Samsung ones: 1/2.3 inch compared to 1/2.55 inch for the Samsung, but the pixels are as you said smaller at 1.22 µm for the Sony and 1.4 µm for the Samsung.

I'd argue most of their originality is gone, especially after they downsized when the recession hit. It's to bad too, big Sony fan here, but before I buy something I try and I go out of my way to see what Sony has, and usually it's that much more expensive with a little less built in compared to comparative reputable brands.

I had the xz2 for a month , my favorite phone after the pixel 2 xl , it's only let down by the camera . Otherwise the skin is near stock the display was great for an ips and the battery lasted all day.

But in real life I really don't see people buying their phones, I seriously didn't see any person with a Sony smartphone on the street since a very long time, and when I do see a person using a Sony smartphone it's usually an old model. I've been loyal to the Xperia brand for the past 5 years but tbh the current crop of phones don't really cut it in the market - where's their innovation - be great if they could also add wearables to the range Xperia watch etc... The camera on my XZ has recently started taking an age to start up and the whole phone has gotten slugggish (just like my previous models did; maybe it;s a deisgn feature??)

Marvellous, I had Sony phones for a very long time and when the XZ2 came out I decided to leave Sony for a generation and got the One Plus. The XZ3 has brought back my faith in Sony a little bit and I am seriously thinking of moving back to them. Although I already have a good phone. I'm toying with the idea of giving my One Plus to my partner whose Xperia z5 Compact is starting to die and getting the XZ3. If it doesn't die soon, ill wait another 6 months to see what Sony does with the XZ4. Im excited for Sony, they are starting to get their groove back.

I'll prefer the xperia xz3, you know what note9 and xz3 are just the same processor in terms of snapdragon. So for me i don't need more feature cuz it may contribute more activities for the processor, and which will lead to a bad performance. And i believe that xz3 is cheaper than note9.

Sony's long term user experience is a massive win and goes beyond the spec sheet war when considering contract deals imho. I wouldn't buy a Sammy over a Sony for the spec sheet ram alone for instance.

I want Sony to be a contender in the international cell phone market like Apple, Samsung and Huawei. I remember in the 1980-1990s Sony use to be the number one electronic company in the world. Sony cell phones use to be the James Bond cell phones. in this comparison the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is better then the Sony Xperia XZ3 but I will choose the Sony Xperia XZ3 over the Apple X and the Huawei P20 because of the Sony SD card slot.

Nice phone, but it's going to have to do something about that super slick, slip and slide body. I can't stand that. Or they could just put a case in the box with the phone.

Availability, the note9 can be had anywhere any network. The Sony is very limited. No US carriers. Plus the s-pen & 4000mamp battery. The base model has 128gb's. Many more features so my choice would be the Note. But the Sony is still a very good phone, nice design & P-OLED display, very nice! Actually the Sony should be matched with the s9+. The note is in a class of it's own!

No other phone on the market can do what Note 9 can do! Notes are the most complete phone's there is! I can sign a pdf file and email it! No other phone be doing that! Samsung Dex basically making Samsung phones a walking computer in yo pocket. You can do power point presentations with a Note 9 and use the S-pen to change the slide! Any other phone have that capability? Nobody talks about the Bluetooth 5.0. You can hook two bluetooth speakers to the S8, S9, Note 8, and Note 9. Can any other phone hook up two bluetooth speakers and let them play simultaneously? And they're IP-68 proof.... p.s. please lemme know your findings 😂. I find the Note Line untouchable! Last but not least Samsung Pay!!!! Ever pay for something with yo phone. Just walk up to the card reader and Boom paid!!! Its like magic lol.

Yesterday i got my xz3 and it's awesome. But there's something annoying and it might be just for me and it's battery, i feel it's not good enough and drains fast. If you start using it at morning, it might finish afternoon. But everything's awesome. And by the way it charges fast.

I agree with you that xz3 is what xz2 should have been. But i have to dissagree concerning the batteries and rams and ip certification. All reviewers and on all forums you will see that sony's battery optimization was, is and probably will continue to be waaaay better than samsung.s. You.ll always get higher screen on times with sony than any other samsung. Also, regarding rams, again, sony's software optimization is again superior to touchwizz, and this applies also considering a higher phone usage (1+ years). The.sony will remain fast, while samsung will.lag. Again ip certification, the comparisons s9 vs xz2 showed clearly than sony is superrior regarding water contact, too bad that all.manufacturers have changed their policy and not advertise the phones as waterproof, but as rain/splash proof

You can really keep a phone for many years and it'll do most of what people want. Technically you can still get away with older devices like a Galaxy s2, it plays videos, goes on the internet, makes calls and texts.
