@Ezugo Obuekwe alot of points made there by you, i was formerly a sony fan and i formerly owned two sony phones when sony were still innovative but that was the past. sony can't keep up with the recent heavy competition believe me brother.. till date sony couldn't make a curved display oled television, back to mobile topic, sony is finding it very very difficult to make a bezeless display, small companies like Vivo and oppo are doing this without any issues, all Sony phones are just too big. Sony makes phones with serious hardware - no argument. Look at Samsung, they are ready to battle this up coming Asia companies with angry Innovation, Huawei brought out three rear cameras, Samsung responded twice with galaxy A7 2018 and galaxy A9's housing 4 rear cameras. Other Asian companies are putting very large batteries on slim devices, Samsung tried it and it cost them so much loss(note 7) but Samsung refused to quit there and they finally achieved their goal with galaxy c9 and note 9. I don't know if you understand me. We have too many smartphones with curve display, even Xiaomi note 2 is a curve oled display, sony is just releasing a curve display mobile 2018 ending lol, first 4k phone sony Xperia z5 premium, the screen alone was draining the mobile battey fast because sony did not do their home work well before putting out the device, Samsung always provide you with options to adjust your screen quality between qHD and fHD cause they they are brainy.

Well, they kind of shot themselves on their foot with one bad decision after the other thereby alienating the general consumers from even shortlisting their phones. Heck, even Chinese brands like oppo or Huawei or oneplus for the matter has a greater reception than these brands. One of the reasons the fingerprint is exactly right in the middle is sony's meant to be neutral position and easier when u unlock the phone when we hold it horizontaly for instant resume of our gaming or watch movies. So there's no need to looking again on back of the phone exactly where's ur hand should to be to for unlocking the fingerprint cause the scanner is right in the middle, no matter when u hold it horizontaly form either right side or left side of the phone. Only smart guy who can relize this, and sony doing it so different from its competitors. That's why i buy this phone

Slaps in the beginning are great, opens my attention pretty quick. I own the xz2 and the finger print sensor is positioned in the middle which serves to do a few things which I appreciate. It allows you to pivot directly in the middle, while holding the phone, you may grab it securely and flip it to the correct orientation and be unlocked at the same time. The one handed mode works well with the lower sensor, and the one thing no one mentions is how slippery it is which means you need a case with grip and the hole in the back actually allows you to better shoot for that position intuitively without looking, just aim for where you think the middle is. The bezels are needed for a spot to put your thumbs without accidental screen input and I believe its necessary with most full screen apps having a long press feature you avoid this easily. The headphone jack is omitted because the sensor in there can actually affect the microphone and speaker functions when wet and it can cause the device to record silence and have faulty playback thinking there are headphones plugged in, the usb-c adaptor solves this, just use wireless charge when needed.

Considering how much people appreciate the LG G7 and Sony XZ3, I think the Sony is the most underrated phone this year. I think in 4k recording still goes to the iPhone XS. The implementation of Sony’s 4k HDR is still in development. There aren’t many devices that support 4k HDR playback. However, it is still good to have considering the XZ3 supports it. Keep it up man!

Sony's Xperia's Bezels are fking awesome because it makes a (function over style) statement. Being able to hold the phone with one hand and pinch the top or bottom bezel with my thumb and side of my index finger means I can hold my phone with confidence, not worried I will hold it awkwardly to not have the screen detect a touch and end up accidentally dropping it. Absolute perfection.

people don't get that every oled panel in the market is an AMOLED.(active matrix oled) . The real P-Oled is PMOled(Passive Matrix Oled){found in those old colorful mp3 players}. The P OlED you are talking about is Plastic Oled refering to the use of bendable plastic as OLED medium. Samsung, LG, JDI ,etc all use the same "Plastic " approach to OLED and all of them are AMOLED. they all have a different way of marketing to appeal to the wide masses so that they'd buy their phones. Samsung just market their oleds with Super Amoled , LG just P OLED, etc etc. THEY ARE ALL *AMOLED* !!!

The location of the fingerprint scanner is exactly the best position when you use the QWERTY keyboard handheld position, and when you put the XZ3 horizontally, your left and right index fingers also can easily press the fingerprint scanner at the same time because it centered position. The designer considers that the user operates the phone at the lower part of the phone instead of the middle part. If you handling middle part of the device the bottom of the phone is blanks/without support and there is a risk of the phone slipping down. Try to Place your little finger at the bottom of the phone it will be much safer and better grip and won't slippery. At this time, your index finger should be at the location of the fingerprint scanner.

I wouldve bought it, no questions ask. Only thing stopping me is the headphone jack 😭 im holding on to my xz premium. Amazing battery life, 6hrs sot 20% battery. Mostly youtube with lots of calls and messaging. Mixed use of data and wifi. Also, i love bezels. I hope they keep this style than adapt that darn notch that just won't die. Also i will miss the side fingerprint sensor. It feels so natutal and can never go back to the back one.

I bought a second XZ Premium, unlocked its bootloader, and installed Carbon ROM on it. Very clean ROM which runs really smoothly, and uses significantly less battery. Does more for me than going from a Snapdragon 835 to an 845 would. I'll unlock the bootloader of my first one and install Carbon ROM on it too, but first I need to back stuff up, because unlocking the bootloader erases the data.

I don't see the big deal, they give you an adapter in the box... You may be thinking, "what if I want to listen to music and charge" however I find this argument really stupid considering not many people do that - if you think about it; it would be really uncomfortable on any phone to charge it and listen music at the same time unless a powerbank is involved. I mean, if you really wanted to listen to music while charging you could just purchase a cheap dongle off the internet.

Great video Mathew! The XZ3 uses Power Delivery ( USB-C PD) fast charging. The XZ2 uses QC 3.0. I've this phone and I love it. The only 2 things that I dislike are the battery life and the camera.

I've never hand an issue with the fps sensor. I don't understand all the hate I literally unlock my phone without even meaning to as I pick up my phone. I have xz2p. The fps on the z5p was terrible for me as any dirt or sweaty fingers and it never worked and was a seriously annoying.

This phone is quite expensive for what it has to offer. $900 dollars in the US market, better off getting a galaxy s9 which runs between 500 to 750 unlocked, just slap on a nova launcher if you hate Samsung UI. The design would have been better, if the front looks more like an lg v30 or v35 with a thinner head and chin. The worse thing about getting an unpopular phone with a curve screen is the headache the comes along with it after. Good luck finding much accessories for it, even something as simple as a proper screen protector.

XZP has a Snapdragon 835, which uses ARM A73 architecture cores. They're very lean, efficient cores. The Snapdragon 845 uses ARM A75 architecture. A75 is actually vulnerable to a Meltdown variant similar to Intel CPUs. A73 is not vulnerable.

Basically all of them are made of glass now ... What happened to good old aluminum phones?!

Well manufacturers are typically using a glass back so they can add in wireless charging. I think it will also help when the time for 5g comes along. But I hear ya metal is much more durable. I typically just use a thin case anyway though.

Well I have an aluminium backed phone rn, but it's not all fun and games. Pros: more durable, better for repair, no fingerprints (mostly) Cons: ugly (imo), no WC, 5G problems, wireless bands, less premium

I don't understand why everyone says the fingerprint sensor is horribly placed. If you hold your phone the way you would using one hand (which most of us do) with the bottom resting on your pinky, the finger print sensor is actually placed perfectly....

this phone has the best display out there , and people out there still praising Note 9 ... sure, it was the greatest display but Sony has already taken over the throne. if you check the facts, it beats Samsung's display in every aspect , except for Samsung being a bit more bezel less but that is irrelevant. ifthis phone had the "pixel" like single camera, i would happily say , its the best under 1000 dollar phone out there ,

@@JeZZGro well actually in the video he said POLED which is from LG. But it could also be from JDI or maybe in the future. However, the part where they are claiming it to be better has more to do with the image processors behind the screen and not as to who manufactured it. Much like the case is with the oled TVs from Sony the A1 series which is currently the best in the world and the panel for that is so far made by LG.

What you said about the 4K HDR video is absolutely correct. The quality is so far ahead of anything recorded by a smartphone. Nobody is talking about it, IDK why. I think it is the highest quality aspect of my XZ2.

I have all the displays here dude it's REALLY good but it's not as good as the display on the iPhone XS or Galaxy Note 9 but VERY close. Honestly whether I had this display or the other one I'd be happy either way

they have the best color reproduction on the market rn , true to life color and not over saturated like Samsung's plus has other bunch of features like hdr rec 2020 , x reality engine, etc . which the others two deprive of. Plus, its screen is produced from an expensive technological method compared to that of samsung and iphones. and the highest pixel density, although that is irrelevant.

Even he was shocked to see the difference. There is no way what you said is accurate. I am 100% certain youre in a position where you can't say that the xz3 has a better display. I am sure we all know what that situation is. But if you do an unbiased test and cover up the brands. I'll guarantee sony is better.

Its a very good phone .. I wish it had an under screen fingerprint sensor and a headphone jack ... Sony has (in my opinion ) best Android implementation without any bloatware just simple clean and stock android with basic sony apps like music album etc . This phone could be on the top if Sony would just add a bigger battery, a headphone jack and a normal fingerprint sensor(A normal placement i meant ) .. As for the charger they have a 1Amp charger for battery life .. if you charge a lithium battery at 5 amps the battery degrades faster and because most people charge their phones at night anyway ... they put a 1 amp charger .. Sony and LG have the best amps and dacs in their phones and for some reason (i think because they want to look as familiar with other brands ) sony stopped putting headphone jacks in their phones .. And now that finally they made the switch to oled i hope they get their team together and start making great phones again just like in the past .. with new and exciting features like ip68 and 4k screens years ago .. Sony i hope you read this and make yourself the brand that you were years ago .. miss the old sony .. not the "we are the same with every other manufacturer " sony ..

Hi Matthew, currently own a pixel 2 xl. Am a massive media viewer on my phone (mainly youtube and other streaming apps). Would you recommend that the xperia with it's excellent screen and stereo speakers are better for media or is the pixel 2 or 3 better for media viewing with its almost as good screen and better battery life? Just wondering which is the better option as my next phone? The xz3 or the pixel 3? Or... Stick with the pixel 2xl?

Do the newer Xperia phones have problems with the SmartConnect app like the other models? I own an Xperia Z5 Premium and the SmartConnect app doesn't work properly forcing me to use a third-party app called SoundAbout. I was wondering there is a better app than SoundAbout? because I'm not liking the fact that I have to manually change the setting from speaker to wired headphones. I'm also don't like that the fingerprint scanner in on the back of the phone instead of the side like my Xperia Z5 Premium.

agree. almost hard to find Sony reviews. Just got my ZZ3 last friday, I had the XZ2 and XZ compact (still do) But This is really the one i´ve been waing for since the XZ. Great job! Thanx for a nice video
