Superstition got me this Fantastic Fishing!

In this episode GP heads off to grab a few hours summertime fishing arriving in the afternoon...There's a hot spell coming but he still fancies his chance of getting a fish with either float or freeline....At first the fishing is dead,then he realises that he has a banana in his food bag,alleged to be a sign of bad luck fishing...No problem...he eats it hoping to change his luck. Then he thinks his landing net is on the wrong side of the swim and at a totally "bad luck" angle ??....You think he is joking ??...No,he is deadly serious with his Fisherman's superstitions,so just watch the film to find out if eating a Banana and moving a net from right to left actually does anything to his fishing...Its Totally Awesome wackiness...but.....?????? .

Good Lord, is there anything better than a summer's evening fishing by a gorgeous English country lake? It just looks idyllic there, Graeme. Also, is there much that's better than logging into KZbin, after an hour-long stroll along Portreath beach, on a Friday evening, after a weeks work, and finding a new TA video to watch? Also grabbed some cod in batter, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce, so might just pour a wee stiff one and welcome the weekend in in style. Tight lines and best wishes to Graeme and the TA Army! 😉

@@TAFishing Living the dream, my friend, living the dream! A Polish neighbour/friend of mine kindly gifted me a few bottles of their own brew spirit. It is like a whisky/vodka/brandy type spirit and tastes of caramel. It is literally the smoothest spirit I have ever had the pleasure of imbibing, and, crazily, should you accidentally over indulge, leaves you with ZERO ill effects the next morning. Owing to language irregularities, neither he nor his wife or children could find the English word for what it exactly is, so can't share that with you, but EVERYONE, literally, who has tried it, LOVES it! We've moved now though, so the remaining three litres I possess are EXTREMELY dear to me. Or, to phrase it differently, NO, you CANNOT have any! 😁 (You're more than welcome to a nip from the hip flask any time, Graeme!) 😉

Use a small log as a pivot point for the net. Place the net in the water, use two hands on the rod to bring the fish in to the right spot, then step on the handle of the net to pop it up and net the fish.

Try floatfishing a bait off the bottom. I saw other anglers on the float previously which is why I thought I would try it.

Totally awesome video. Thank you. Going out for the 1st time this season (hopefully) this week-end. Target species is Catfish/Bullhead, but a stray carp or two will suit me just fine. A lake near us called 'Bullhead Point' is where I am going. Hopefully, with the temps in low 70s and the sun supposed to be out all weekend, it won't be loaded with people with the same idea. I would take the boat out ( a 14ft 'V' hulled aluminum rowboat refitted as a major bass boat, but I'm going alone, son has to work) so gonna get to try out the new folding fishing chair the wife & kids got me for Christmas. It's nice and comfy, 3 rod holders and it swivels too!

Come to our estate in Ireland private lakes are pretty much unfished except by me but we have huge bream and I get regular 20lb+ pike.

There are many varieties of groundbait used for different species and techniques. The best way is to go into your local tackle shop and ask them if they can help with whatever species you are going to target.

Great method you use for the catfish simple and avective but can you tell me what bait your use in not that I could use it theres no catfish here in Dublin.Good video again Graham.

I have some baby squid I will be trying this year,also called "Party squid".You might get them in your local sea fishing tackle shop. Pound them with a piece of wood or 8 oz fishing lead first,its said to let essential oils out. The beach anglers down Somerset do this..I reckon small Squid are about the right size for average Catfish. I am told by a Catfish expert that a huge bunch of lobworms just hooked once through the middle is hard to beat. I personally think Catfish eat pretty much anything.

I can never work out the rules at that fishery. It says Day Tickets are 7am - 7pm and then day tickets end at 4pm. More rules than the EU as well. I used to catch some of those catfish 20 years ago when they were kittens, about 4 or 5 lbs. I'd have another go if I could work out the rules.

Thats some real savage striking just wondering buddy whats the percentage of the fish you hook and land compared to stricking and landing just a set of lips could you please just mention to your views that you have to strike like that with cats as they have a boney mouth and are a much bigger fish compared to stricking a small bleak could you please do a bit for us vìewers about how hard you have to set the hook for different size fish as ive seen kids strike way to hard i have even seen just the fishes lips on the hook many thanks grayem

I am fishing for Catfish in the centre of the lake using,not a Catfish rod,just a through-action regular Carp rod. Its a soft rod so I have never,in 60 years had a pair of lips come back ! I do have a film up on our playlist on reel drag settings and how little pressure is applied with a fishing rod. Might be worth a look.

@@TAFishing thanks buddy I'll try and find it im not in any way criticising you ive had 50lb cats from great linford lakes i know the crack its just young kids that are just joining the sport they have been givin hand me down rods,reels etc which is great you know the crack rods like broom handles and line like washing line all they catch is tiny perch tiny rudd roach bleak etc and get so excited they strike so hard ive witnessed just lips coming out as i walk the Thames daily in season seen it a few times just wondered as you have a very successful channel and you can reach alot of people i feel it would worth you bringing it up every now and then as people look up to you im so not criticising you all the best ALEX Ps keep up the fantastic work

Question , can you use pop ups on canals . I went to a stretch the other week and come dusk the canal was absolutely buzzing , used maggots and hemp one fish all day . Admittedly I had two noisey kids with me . I need some new tactical advice depths bait and rigs I was fishing on a waggler float and a whip.

Check with your local tackle shop or maybe if there is a fishing club that has a match section. You might get tips on canal fishing from them.I think maggots and hemp would be better on a canal than a popup.

Its the boat fishing lucky hat ,but sometimes I give it a run out on a freshwater trip. I have another lucky hat but I have had to paint out the logo as I got fed up with people saying I was sponsored !!..I just daubed black paint over it.

Battery died..I've only got old ones and they don't hold a charge very long. Its worse in cold weather. I carry 3 batteries for that reason but changing them takes time.

You never never take a banana fishing that was why you never caught anything and you definitely definitely don't take a banana on a boat i knew a bloke once what ever he did he always come back to the harbour with fish his mrs put 4 bananas in his lunch bag went out to sea fishing and his boat sank he was out fishing for 6 hrs not a touch no liners nothing then for no reason his boat just took on water and sank think they split up after that or he split her lip gutted they were an amazing couple everyone i knew wanted a relationship like theres it was perfect all it took to destroy there great relationship was 4 bananas slyley put in his food carrier bag the bloke has lost some great mates he turned weird after that he was shot to shit after his boat sank to be fair think I'd be totally the same
