This clip is from the amazing HBO concert "The 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame." Stevie Wonder is an amazing piano player and he gets paired with Jeff Beck who is an amazing blues guitarist. Classic song with a new amazing solo. Hopefully there will even be more from this concert up soon.

I love the fact that Stevie uses the genuine Hohner clavinet that is vital for this song instead of some keyboard that has a sampled clavinet sound. It looks and sounds great! What an excellent combination of talent as well with Jeff in the mix.

I agree 100% about Peter Green. His name is mentioned all to infrequently and he is so very underrated. Incredibly sensitive and beautiful are very apt descriptions for Peter's playing.

i dont know man you can think what you like, but I listen to everybody from Lonnie Johnson to led zeppelin to Bernard Allison and whatever else i can find and i am sick of people drooling all over Jeff Beck. He has perfect pitch and great tone but i his new style gets old. His covers like Day In The Life is real good, but his stuff that he did with George Martin on blow by blow and wired is just so much more appealing. It brings in the whole band into the music and makes Jeff sound much better

contd.... It has blues undertones but it is not a blues song. I put Jeff Beck in a similar category as Hendrix in a way that they both are experimental with their licks and their tone (mostly jeffs early stuff). Except when Hendrix played a blues song he fuckin kills it, singing and playing. can Jeff say that???

@philebbesen people have their gods. btw, i'm gonna say whatever i choose just as the next person. choice is a good thing He gave us....all depends on what we choose. Anyways, i'm just going to enjoy my music & comment at my own will as I see fit. And no, I'm not reliious as you would think. Just one who has chosen to see myself in the mirror & to see that I needed salvation. My choice.

Clapton on stage head to head with Beck and the blues greats. You can decide for yourself who is better at the blues on the spot. And who tears up the stage but Albert Collins (who is practically on his death bed in the video). (put this link behind the youtube.com) /watch?v=apgi9Hlrd9o

Jeff Beck is an incredible guitarist. Truly one of a kind. But he is not a good blues guitarist. His licks have blues influence, but his blues days were when he was a les paul guy in the 70's. Once he got that whammy bar he left the blues licks with the les paul. He does a show with BB King called "By Request" in about 2000 or so, and he can't even keep up with ol' B on the blues tunes. But as I said before, great guitarist but clapton does circles around him with blues and Beck knows it.

@philebbesen This is why so many people reject God. They just do not know nor do they want to know. You have Him all wrong. Hell was never made for man. Man makes that choice all on his own. God is not based on fear. However, that being said-I looked in the mirror of His word & saw for myself that I needed God because I was so far from Him & from the love he has for mankind.

@philebbesen Hmmm, It's your choice to choose. God made sure He created us with that option. It's good to know we are not robots but rather we choose to belive in Him or we choose to reject Him. So there ya have it.........

now im gonna stand up for Beck. /watch?v=gXtR0GUcXz8&feature=relmfu /watch?v=K9NyC73CjTg I love his older stuff. Blow by Blow and Wired are absolute masterpieces. But he was blues rooted, not a blues guitarist. BBA was one of the baddest bands in the 70s and they didn’t sell anywhere near what they should have. And I love peter green as much as you do, but where has he been for the last 30 years? Same with Mick Taylor?

@JimmyPagesSoloLover Paul Henri Thiry, baron d'Holbach, an 18th century advocate of atheism. "The source of man's unhappiness is his ignorance of Nature. The pertinacity with which he clings to blind opinions imbibed in his infancy, which interweave themselves with his existence, the consequent prejudice that warps his mind, that prevents its expansion, that renders him the slave of fiction, appears to doom him to continual error." How do u clarify the blues, different people play different blues, no certain style is better than another. he prefers to play blues like that. Its still blues if u hear it that way. Clapton just does that original kind of blues. Eric Johnson Shreds the blues. Beck Uses his effect pedals and tremolo bar to do blues. Page plays harder blues, BB King plays softer blues. There all different, but all the same, GET IT?
@DMac1712

why don't you ask your brother dan marino he knows more about the blues than you ever will. just because he plays sits in with blues players and Beck said in an interview with rolling stone that every time when he picks up a guitar these days he tries to play like he has never touched one before. It gives him a unique sound that is his own and original. But it is not blues without outside influence. Peter Green tried the same thing with his single Albatross.

Nah - you are mistaken . Eric Clapton stopped playing really good stuff at about the same time Duane Allman died. His most expressive blues music came very early on, when he was playing with John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers but even then Peter Green ( who replaced him in that band ) was the most incredibly sensitive and beautiful blues guitarist, out of Eric's contempories . Jeff Beck and Mick Taylor also are way out in front of Eric, who seems, these days to make music for the disinterested.

@philebbesen Oh g, u are going to believe whatever you choose that fits what you want it to. Ya know, people would much rather believe they came from monekys than from the first man Adam. Ok Ok, you have made your choice. It is yours to follow. You do not wish to know the truth and that is another choice you've made. Ok then. So, graviy created your way of thinking & your beliefs? , it's really a bad choice to make but it's your GOD given right to make it.

/watch?v=skNIKP_I6fg All you need for proof Clapton is better at blues. The cocky Chuck Berry is ON HIS KNEES for the guy. BB King once said that he was the best living blues guitarist. He has helped keep blues mainstream ever since his bluesbreakers days. Yes, he did some shit in the eighties and nineties (who didn’t), but every album he ever did has at least one blues standard on it. Jeff Beck hasn’t done a traditional blues song since the yardbirds.

ur not getting the point, bro. U think all blues is just sitting with a strat and playing the 12 bar blues over and over again from the same person? No, the blues should be varied, if it wasnt that would be just what u were hearing. People admire him because he pioneeded his kind of blues. Y do u think eric clapton and bb.king and all these greats would want to play with him if they thought exactly like u? Ya, he sits in with these guys, but at least that means THEY like him.

@JimmyPagesSoloLover reject him? i dont beleive in god the same reason i dont beleive in santa, the tooth fairy, and the easter bunny. its one thing to have faith...but when you live your life based off a book written thousands of years ago by people who honestly had no clue about life ( they thought the earth was flat and you would fall off!) its pretty sad. besides god is based of fear. if you dont do or live a sertian way you go to hell? naaa not for me

@philebbesen You must get into the old & new covenant books & pray for wisdom knowledge & understanding in oder to "know". If you choose not to then it's all up to you. As I said-It's all a matter of choice. Many people have faith in many things or many peoples. There is a measure of faith given to all. It's just up to us where we put that faith. You've put it in something or someone other than God. Again-Choice. I'm done w/this. I'm really not a preacher. To each his/her own!
