Shame. I have been there many times. I used to live in Levittown PA and this was the closest coastal place for me to visit. My ex's grandmother lived in Toms River. Very sad. My heart goes out to all my friends and extended family up in the NE. Hope you are all ok, stay safe.

@@gabbyavallone5497 I was in my Senior year of High School. The way it started I’ll never forget. The whole day was cloudy, but as the day went on, the clouds and rain slowly started to come in. By nighttime, the wind came in and boy was it something. All of a sudden the lights started flickering and as I was watching MNF (49ers vs Cardinals) the power fully went out. The next morning we drove around and never did I ever see so much widespread power outage in my entire county. Very few businesses had little if any power at all. I also probably saw dozens of trees uprooted. We were out until Wednesday afternoon. We were fortune compared to others near me who apparently lost power for a couple weeks. I’ll never forget those days. When we returned to school the following week, the whole school was talking about their experiences.

I live in NJ and my house was literally shaking my chandelier fell right off my ceiling, our power was off for 3 days, we lost all our outdoor furniture, and our siding flew off! We were all scared to death we couldn't even make any phone calls, no reception at all! & the fact that they didn't even ask our area to evacuate because it wasn't supposed to hit it that hard. I can only imagine this it was 100 times worse than what I felt...smh. Now our Jersey Shore is all just a memory....

I remember Hurricane Sandy and I wanted to have a slumber party with my friend but my parents told me no because they didn't know if it was coming to PA. We went to Virginia halloween week for a week in November. It was freezing at the beach and watery ship yard. But, on the radio on the way to the beach, two children drowned in the floods. I felt terrible for their mother and everyone involved.

It's a shame. Seaside Heights would be celebrating its 100th birthday in 2013. All of the old iconic scenery & amusements are in ruin right now. Everything would need to be rebuilt. But maybe this will mean that new hotels & motels will be built to replace some of the notoriously bad ones.

instead of exploiting the NJ coastline with shanty houses packed together like sardines these Barrier Islands should be turned into exactly what they are. "BARRIERS" National or State Reserves much like Maryland. I know for sure that the frequency and severity of these storms is only going to increase and eventually no one in their right mind will have a property there.

"Will never be the same even when they rebuild." They should not be the same when they were rebuilt ! why? Because you don;t want to worry about another hurricane if you solve the problem of the wood frame houses ! I even donated money to support the people are effected by this horrible tragedy. Can you imagin, they lost thier homes how the heck are they going to live!!! sad really sad
thats anybody ever notice that yea rby year the sizes of hurricanes hasbeen increasing and noone talk about ten years ago there was a hurricane half of the size of sandy that never made landing and in tht time that was consider huge now sandy is about half of the country in size and it made landing as just category 1 can imagine if it was category 2 or 3 that is what is coming in the next years and we are not getting the information about It is man made

Why do people blame God for disasters then credit him for good luck? Why do they say he hate certain children of his and then he is this all loving father? Why do people claim Gods on both their sides of wars. Are they saying God is sinister that he is both God and the Devil? Why don't people want to take responsibility for their own actions? Such as a foolish man builds his house upon the sand!
