I apologize for feeling blue when I check for new videos & there is not one. I know you are busy with all you do (work, family, life) but you need to understand that folks like me check everyday for a new one and am incredibly excited when there is one! When days go by without a new one well----just sayin". Either way I will continue to look everyday and will always be a fan.

Make sure all new lines from cross valve to tanks are the exact same length on both sides. Mis matched lengths will cause uneven level in the tanks otherwise

Dan split the nuts on the lines with a die cutter. Dont even have to cut all the way in and hit thread...just score both sides and give a hit with a chisel they split...Easy way to do fuel and hydraulic lines that are stuck...👍👍

Remember in my young days working in the forestry and having a bad day trying to repair burst hydraulic hoses I threw my 27mm spanner in anger, as soon as it left my hand I knew I was going to have to go looking for it. There may well be a deer wandering the forests with a spanner hanging from an antler, I learned a lot that day but it took age to learn patience 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Love the video Dan love that you’re getting old girl back Road ready. FYY has a couple tricks I learned over the years to get those hoses are soaking with PB blaster take a ball peen hammer and tap the fittings all around that don’t work use the air hammer. Go to Harbor freight and get 12 point Crowfoot

Long time watcher first time commenter, I changed all the lines on my 03 Pete, return lines leaking and draw line was Kinked. Be careful with Napa and other hydraulic hose it KINKS easy and over time relaxes on the bends, make your own line from Peterbilt and whererever else #8 and #10 is better imo, stays open on the INSIDE which is something the hydraulic pressure lines just aren’t designed to do really. Our draw and return lines don’t have much pressure really so not even much fuel comes out when changing them. It’s easy
@adv36664 жыл бұрын
Painting tanks now and run spread out caulking.. Between staps and tanks good too... Inspect t bolt on straps too.. They usually have 12-15 year life span.. And u will hear strap let go and your tank will fold around center of tank.. Dumping liquid Gold all over road
@adv36664 жыл бұрын
I hope u decide to replace all old fuel lines.. Might I suggest... Take fuel tanks off.. And add shut off valve as well for fuel return..

One thing to point out to new drivers is making sure you drain your air tanks on tractor and trailer to prevent brake failure. My trailer lost all air this week due to cold and not properly draining the condensation out of the tanks.
@wilE67644 жыл бұрын
I was told you dont have to..the air dryer takes care of that

Probably too late to say but use Anti-Seize (Never Seize) compound on the male threads before putting back together. Just a tiny bit will do. So if it happens again, the labor is effortless.

Dan, I had a 93 Pete ran flatbed, that would never level out tanks, Pete dealer replaced all valves and lines, still wouldn't level and kept overfill'n to lft tank, ended up cap'n right tank to stop overflow'n to lft tank, gd luck dude

Hi Dan, Why don't you just make up the hoses you need yourself? It seems your fittings is reusable fittings, so you only need 1/2" and 13/16" hose and then you can just cut them to length and swop the fittings over.

@hjc54584 жыл бұрын
I'd have gone Glider. I wouldn't want to go into winter with that old Pete, It just seems like too many things are needing replaced. And if the 1 airbag needs R&R the other 3 aren't far behind. just replace them all, desert heat and sun is not good on rubber.
@MrBigR9284 жыл бұрын
@@hjc5458 We all know Dan has taken good care of that Pete and your basically dealing with a motor and drive line and suspension and he's taken care of the big stuff. The rest is just updating some old stuff and you don't need a tech charging you $195.00hr to do that and the parts are a whooole lot cheaper and plentiful! No need to getting into more debt when you have a darn good 379 with a 6nz motor in it! He's only gotta note on that trailer and he could sell that new Pete and old trailer and darn near pay that new trailer off. And that leaves money for some polished wheels and tanks right?😁 Oh and a peaceful night sleep of not having a truck note over your head!
