Love hearing you say you got 300/350k miles out of drive tyres. We are lucky if we get 100,000 kilometres out of ours on the work we do, agricultural/forestry work in Scotland, I know you can’t compare our work with your work but if you also add in our ridiculous fuel prices life can be difficult here. All the best Dan you’re doing a great job. 👍👍👍

The old Cat Peterbilt is really looking good! You have done lots of work on her since you came home! I was wondering... how is Teresa? Would she ever go on camera to talk a little about her horse? Or horses? How are the dogs? I haven’t seen Cali in the backroad. Last, your patio project looks like it turned out very well! Lots of shade! Continued good luck in rebuilding the old truck! It’s very interesting to watch!

Dan, great channel... Your paint can be restored to like-new if you buy a 32oz. McGuires 105... Use it by hand or orbital ...You will be amazed how nice it brings back old paint....Been out of my Pete a long time ago.... Retired, I now restore my collection of old vintage Harleys.... Cant wait to see the 379 back out there

Super Dan! For what this is worth, my husband introduced me to your channel some months ago. I knew nothing about trucking. While I have watched other trucking videos, they don't hold a candle to your channel. I am so impressed with your professionalism, your knowledge of servicing your trucks and your work ethic. What also holds true to me, is your loving sign in your truck to Teresa. We are retired and live in British Columbia, Canada and in our journeys have encountered many long haul truckers throughout our province, across Canada and the US. You, along with your brothers and sisters are a very valued group. Thank you for what you do. We love your channel!

My dad and I ran Centermatic on our trucks back in the 80s. They will save you money on tire wear and provide a better ride. Glad the old girl is coming along nicely. My last truck was a 377SBFA with a 63 inch bunk. My fav was a T800 with 60 inch bunk.

Hi there Dan, great job on the shocks. If those are the originals that is definitely a testament centermatic balancer, maybe you should see if they would also give a sponsorship? And in my experience replacement parts never seem to last as long as the ones that the manufacturer uses. Looking forward to seeing the old Pete ready to roll out! Thanks for sharing another great video with us.👍

I run Centramatics on all 3 axles also Dan and they do help tremendously with tire wear and harmonics that can speed up wear and tare on your rear ends and wheel seals. And I also get my steer tires balanced along with using the Centramatics. These highways are brutal enough along with pulling heavy sometimes and we need all the help we can get to make these big ticket items last. Wow you definitely got your money's worth outta those shocks! The say Paccar on them now...lol. Good Stuff Dan👍🏾

Big truck shocks rarely last a year. Cheap to replace. Check your warranties!
@tiredoldmechanic17914 жыл бұрын
I've always favored using some type of automatic balancing device on trucks. The Centramatic or the balancing beads or powders work well because they can constantly adjust the balance. Driving through mud can change the balance of a tire and cause it to wear enough so it's still out of balance when it's eventually cleaned.
@wht41324 жыл бұрын
If they are the originals they are long over due for replacement. Last video you said you were going to use a slick disc. on the trailer. Dont paint the fifth wheel just wire brush it and use a good dry graphite( I prefer the Lucas brand ) spray on it and the top plate of the trailer after removing the grease. Also be sure to grease the Kingpin.

How many miles or km is on your old Pete for those shocks heh :) Truck has held up Pretty good, consider her age :) Keep up good work. I’m sure your truck (She) will appreciate it down the road :) Ps what you going do with other Pete? Going keep her as backup or sell her? Lol scrounge another CAT or Detroit diesel engine for the other truck haha. Then she Purr more happily hah.
@larrylister51944 жыл бұрын
Hey, Dan.....Have you checked with your local CAT dealer lately????? Cat has a program for million milers. They give away jackets, hats, etc for million plus mile operators. Might be something to check into. Especially since you are putting your old Pete back on the road.

Hey Dan, maybe I'm wrong but I thought you were going to put a deck on the house? Stay safe.
@chriskahlson4 жыл бұрын
Piece by piece you’re getting it ready for another million miles and it’s not costing a fortune because you’re all about DIY unless it’s an engine overhaul. Can’t wait till you get the APU connected up and running, that’s the single biggest money saver, what a deal you got on it too. You’ll be back on the road in you’re old reliable Pete with the Cat motor. The truck you been driving is still in great shape, you can just list it and find a buyer, say good bye !

I’m pretty sure your theory is correct I’m a tightwad so when I get a chance I’ll run glass beads you can get them at loves truck stop about six months ago I bought a half inch drive Milwaukee 18 V fuel impact and most times I do all My tires let me Say this That was money well spent not sure what brand shocks you put on but I got Patcar I believe was the name of them the last ones I put on they seem to do very well got them from Peterbilt dealer

@grege23834 жыл бұрын
Your grinder appears to be the type with the on/off switch on the side. If that's the case get rid of it and get one with the deadman switch! I was using a cutoff wheel with mine and it kicked out of my hands and the wheel hit the inside of my leg where the femoral artery is. The only thing that saved my femoral artery from being cut wide open was the deadman switch.
@harleyhawk79594 жыл бұрын

I wonder, what exactely is your plan for the trucks? Both on the road, sell one? What about the old trailer, are you going to repair it? Or another Dorsey? Two on the road, expand your buiseness with a new driver? So many questions... Stay safe and healthy Mr Daniel!
@MayorofDipshittery-lq7if4 жыл бұрын
Taking on drivers just brings headaches. All drivers want to do is drive, most of them won’t think for themselves, I speak from experience because I employed many drivers yet wished I’d stuck to one vehicle and just got on with it myself.
@yvindHvaal4 жыл бұрын
Good and trusty drivers are hard to find. Identical problem here in Europa, most of them are from eastern Europa and work for low wages. No work honor and no driving experience. But there are a few.. long between though..

Doing something right or the wrong way is like hitting your hand with a hammer. It only takes one time to know it works or doesn’t. You’ll never hit your self with a hammer twice. But learning how to do something wrong it not bad either, sometimes you need how not to do something to learn.
