I know this is an anti-HYP video lol BUT, I found out I was admitted to Princeton as a transfer this week and I owe a HUGE thank you to this channel. Thank you Brooke for all you do and the excellent, spot-on information you provide.

I have been watching this channel since freshman year and now I'm coming to a close on my senior year. I am so grateful for this channel! My family has never had a lot of money, so this has helped me immensely through the SAT, AP tests during the pandemic, and the college admissions process. Thank you, Brooke!

Reasons Why Not To Go To Harvard (or any elite school): 👑 1:10 - Not a good fit 👑 4:03 - The economics don’t make sense 👑 7:17 - Relative Deprivation Theory For y’all choosing where to go or where not to go, whichever college you decide to go to will be the best decision if you make the mot of it. There will always be the “what if…?” questions, but what sense does it make to live making assumptions of things that did not take place? It is better to make the most of your time wherever you go to study. If you look for the opportunities to grow academically and as a person, you will find them sooner or later. Don’t worry! It is just 4 years of your life! You got this! Lastly, don’t compare yourself to others. That may be the worst thing you could ever do to yourself. Try your best and study hard, but do not compare yourself to a person that lives completely different lifestyles. Sure you may admire them and see them as motivation, but do not beat yourself down because of something you wish you had or wish you hadn’t, okay? Maybe we will meet someday, maybe not, but wherever we end up in a few years, I’m sure the person reading this right now will be proud of who you’ll become after all your hard work. Keep going and do not give up!

I love that you pulled in Gladwell's research as I was just thinking about it while watching another one of your admissions videos. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and research.

Oh my god! This is so relevatory. Harvard was on my list of colleges to apply to, and I have now changed my mind. I will leave with my 1060 sat score 😌 Edit: I forgot my score was 20 points higher, self criticism really hurts you

Kraken: I am so relieved Brooke saved you from Harvard. She is amazing: 95% of those who applied to Harvard were saved. 😁

@@jhmrem what people forget that these institutions are incredibly exclusionary of those who have already been admitted. You can't just go and join a club, you have to perform specific rituals to perhaps be considered. Please save yourself the hardship and go to a good school correlated with success in your career field

People just need to remember that it's not the school that makes a person but the person that makes a school. Bill Gates is not famous because he went to Harvard but Harvard became more "prestigious" because Bill Gates went there even though he didn't even graduate there. Whoever wrote The Bible didn't even go to any universities. It's what we do in our lives that matters not the school we went to.

Economics is simply supply vs demand. There's a higher demand to hire alumni of certain colleges. Meanwhile, there's a lower supply of those available alumni at certain colleges. This tilts the economics in favor of certain colleges than others. If you don't want more favorable economics through life, then simply avoid the colleges with highly rewarded alumni. If you don't want people clamoring to hire you through life at pay rates well above average, then you'll definitely want to avoid the colleges that tend to produce such outcomes for their alumni.

Another great video by Brooke. She really is the BEST. I have always said that, unless you are going into hard-core research fields, Harvard really doesn't make sense. Unless you want to do it just for the ego trip ... But, news flash, Harvard isn't the best school in the world anymore, so even that reason isn't valid.
@35mayocynthia2 жыл бұрын
If you do get accepted please do not be the person who thinks that they re better than someone because they went to an ivy league college. If you have that attitude you might as well take your college degree and throw it in the trash because no one is going to hire you with an attitude like that.

in the long term the school doesn't really matter that much. But in the short term those elite schools open almost every door for you and yes i would say it is worth it. You will have a much easier start.
